Chapter 4 - [Zhu Clan] Farming Ideas

Lingyun looked at the two and asked "Am I right or am I right?"

The two laughed and said "Big brother is always right!"

The mother smiled and laughed with them, then she told the two young ladies "Okay, go back to your fields! A spiritual planter doesn't leave his fields until they are finished, and even then, you will have to inspect them diligently to make sure nothing happens! Remember, absence is the origin of mistakes!"

They nodded like chicken picking corn, then jumped and skipped towards their fields, one small acre for each. Their bodies were supported by medical materials, so they could cause a lot of trouble and still be fine and healthy.

These two liked taking care of the spiritual fields from early on, probably because their parents were busy with them day and night, while their big brother didn't have much time to spent with them on usual days.

"Hmm, mother, I have a feeling these two will awaken spiritual roots, high grade ones even."

His mother, Lu Xuelin, nodded when she heard this "They do show extraordinary talent which means they have at least some talents, as for the grade, we don't know yet. Alas, I just hope they grow up well!"

Lingyun knew this was the wish of all mothers, hoping their children won't be bullied at school, that they have enough to eat and many more worries. Lingyun felt that he was lucky to have reincarnated into this harmonious family, even if the clan they were part of wasn't the best.

If it was his second or third reincarnation, he might still feel weird about calling them his parents, but with time and experience, he knew that different ages required different behaviour. He became used to it and now it felt like he was reincarnating for the first time every time, with a feeling of optimism, hope and freshness.

Lingyun and his mother walked around the peak as they chatted, mainly about the topic of spiritual planting. His parents found out early about his interest, so they satisfied his thirst for theoretical knowledge, but also told him to focus on cultivation.

For Lingyun, this arrangement was fine. He just wanted to compare his own knowledge with others. Rogue cultivators generally don't share their attainment, which slows down many things. Now that he had the chance, he wanted to learn more.

As the years passed, he was able to help his parents when encountering difficulties, and by extension the branch. His reputation is rather hidden, but most branch members know of him, giving him the reputation of a knowledgeable scholar.

After walking around for half an hour, they finally met Zhu Liyun, Lingyun's father. Their lineage took upon the mission of keeping 'Yun' as their name, the change is only the generation name of Ye, Li and Ling. Lingyun found it funny, but he also thought that it was similar to the naming style of adding "junior" after the name, or the royal naming of "the second, third, etc.".

Liyun also looked Lingyun up and down.

Although he was slower than Xuelin, he still showed a proud look as he kept hitting Lingyun's shoulder, pushing him a few centimetres into the ground. He laughed out loud "Hahaha, this is my son! This is the son I raised, now he can even catch up with his old pa!"

Lingyun smiled and shook his head "Father, you also have three aligning spiritual roots, how can I compare to you? I'm just blessed enough to have many resources and be a bit smarter than others, otherwise I'm sure father would have reached the foundation building stage!"

"Than others?!" Liyun hit his son even further on his shoulder, pushing him down "Hmph, that old man always says bad things, how am I any worse than you! You little brat, you are so smart, really good, you also knew how to cry loudly when you were hungry and pee on your father's close when you wanted to empty yourself! I really raised a piece of dirt like a diamond!"

He was a bit angry but the joy in his eyes couldn't be concealed. What a joke, not to mention anything else, there was basically no bottleneck for the whole time his son cultivated, he could go through the stages as long as he cultivated consistently. Resources can only go to a certain stage, real talent is even beyond spiritual roots!

Real talent is based on many factors of comprehension, roots, physiques, arts, etc., his son has high comprehension, which is comparable to a cultivator with one strange spiritual root!

Strange spiritual roots are all roots that stem from the five elements, while pure spiritual roots are single roots. In fact, there is no essential difference from pure and strange roots, both of them are single roots and have extremely high cultivation speed.

If there is a difference, then it would be that pure spiritual roots have a higher variety of spells to choose from, while strange spiritual roots are already a kind of specialisation, going backwards is difficult and not very beneficial.

The two parents and Lingyun walked and inspected the fields, talking about the situation.

"Ah, where is my head, I forgot to mention this. Your idea worked very well, rotating different people for one field is the best choice. It's better than having one person take care of their field. With the split, we managed to increase the output by 10%, it is estimated to increase by another 10% after the spiritual planters get used to it.

As for further improvements, we would have to test it on a larger stage and then change more things. Currently, we are only testing it on our peak which still has the previous arrangement, if we were to make a whole new arrangement based on this idea, we might increase by another 10%. There is a possibility it will increase further through practice and experience, but it shouldn't be too much and can be accounted to personal ability of the different planters."

Lingyun was happy. He proposed this idea he had for a long time, which is basically the industrial chain work for spiritual planting. He wanted to expand this, but he only trusted his own branch. If he laid it out on the open, who knows what wrongs the main lineage would do, so he'd rather just wait for an opportunity or not do it at all.

"You can use my peak for that. The space there is smaller than this one, which should make it easier to inspect and see results. Since we split the work into the five elemental nourishment spells, we should focus on plants that can absorb it all.

All plants take wood and earth nourishment, water and fire usually conflict, but if we use different nourishment spells, we might achieve the effect of one plus one being more than two. The Nourishing Light Spell and Morning Dew Spell can be used together, the fire enhances the dew absorption speed of the plant and the water enhances the light absorbed by the plant.

In combination, this should allow the use of four. As for the fifth, well, the wind spells are usually used to kill insects and such, but wind gives birth to water and enhances fire, it will serve as an adhesive and temper the plant in the process, so that no spiritual power is wasted."
