Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Stone’s Surge

I woke up to a sharp pain in my head, disoriented and confused. As I opened my eyes, I realized I was lying on my back, staring up at the rocky ceiling of the cavern. The purple and blue hues had faded, replaced by the faint light of dawn filtering in from an opening in the ceiling.

As I tried to sit up, I winced at the throbbing pain in my head. I must have hit it on the fall. I reached up to touch the spot, and my fingers came away sticky with blood.

I looked around, trying to get my bearings. The cavern had opened up into a wider chamber, with rocky pillars rising up from the ground like ancient monuments. I could see the exit, a small opening in the wall at the far end of the chamber.

But something else caught my eye. In the center of the chamber, surrounded by the pillars, was a circular stone platform. I could feel a pull towards it, like a magnet drawing me closer.

As I approached the platform, I saw that there were strange symbols etched into the stone, arranged in a pattern I couldn't quite decipher. But as I stood there, staring at the symbols, a strange feeling overtook me. It was like a buzzing in my head, a vibration that seemed to resonate with the symbols on the platform.

I reached out a hand to touch the stone, and as my fingers made contact, a blinding light erupted from the symbols. I felt a surge of energy coursing through my body, and then everything went black.

That surge carried me beyond the cavern, to a void where stars danced and fear took form.
