> "That's right—my target is Alex!"
"I want to see for myself whether he's really as strong as the legends say!"
Dr. Neuro didn't deny it.
He just grinned—wide, twitchy, manic.
That kind of grin only true lunatics had—
half-mad scientist, half-monster.
Even his breathing came in jerky bursts, like laughter was trying to claw its way out of his throat.
> "Is that so?"
A calm voice came from outside the door.
> "Then you'll see him soon enough."
The grin on Dr. Neuro's face froze.
Silver Swan's expression darkened instantly.
An invisible chill swept through the room.
BOOM!
Before either of them could react,
the metal door exploded inward,
blown clean off its hinges.
It tore through the air like a missile,
the sound so sharp it hurt the ears.
Silver Swan moved first.
Her wings flared out, catching the light like blades of silver.
She twisted, kicked—
and shattered the flying door into splinters before it hit them.
Dust and smoke filled the narrow room.
And then—
a tall figure walked out of the haze,
his boots echoing softly against the cracked floor.
Calm.
Unhurried.
Eyes glowing faintly red.
Alex.
> "Alex!"
Catwoman's voice trembled from the chair she was tied to—
a mix of relief and fierce pride.
She'd known he would come.
He always did.
And here he was—
faster than her kidnappers could blink.
> "Selina," Alex said softly,
his tone unexpectedly gentle,
"I'm sorry you had to go through that."
He lifted his hand.
Two thin beams of scarlet light flashed—
sssst!
The ropes binding her wrists and ankles were sliced to ash.
Selina stood, brushing herself off,
her catlike eyes gleaming.
Then, with effortless grace, she crossed to Alex's side,
as if nothing could touch her now.
Meanwhile, her captors froze.
Dr. Neuro stared like a child seeing a god for the first time.
> "Laser beams! Did you see that?!"
"He can actually shoot lasers from his eyes! What marvelous data!"
He clapped like a lunatic,
his voice trembling with excitement.
> "Enough!" Silver Swan snapped.
"Do it. Now!"
Dr. Neuro blinked, then nodded.
The madness in his grin dimmed,
replaced by something like fear.
He raised his trembling hands.
The glass cylinders wired into his skull began to pulse with sickly light.
A faint hum filled the air—
the sound of psychic energy building.
Then his eyes rolled white.
> "What—what's going on?!"
"Impossible! My power… it's not working!"
Dr. Neuro's glee shattered into disbelief.
The humming turned into a shriek as the light in his head-devices flickered violently,
like they were short-circuiting.
Silver Swan's eyes widened.
Even she could feel it—
his telepathic field should've engulfed the entire building by now.
But Alex didn't even blink.
It was like trying to hypnotize a mountain.
> "No—no, that's impossible!"
"It has to work!"
Dr. Neuro screamed, veins bulging in his forehead.
The light flared until it seared the air—
and then fizzled out.
Alex merely sighed.
> "Are you done?"
Before the words even faded,
his heat vision erupted.
Two crimson beams—
swift, precise, merciless.
Pchhht!
A hole opened clean through Dr. Neuro's chest.
He staggered backward, choking,
eyes wide with disbelief,
before collapsing like a puppet with its strings cut.
Smoke curled from the wound.
The machines on his skull sparked once…
then went dark.
> "He… he's dead…"
Silver Swan's whisper was barely audible.
Her face had gone pale as paper.
Even her wings trembled.
A senior member of the Syndicate—
wiped out in seconds.
She couldn't even track his movement.
Before she could breathe—
Ssst!
Another burst of heat vision streaked toward her.
She dodged purely on instinct, spinning midair.
Her metallic wings scraped the walls as she dove aside,
the blast missing her by a hair.
And then—
Alex was in front of her.
No blur.
No transition.
Just—there.
> "Too slow."
One punch.
BOOM!
The impact blasted her through the wall like a cannonball.
The shockwave ripped through the room,
shattering glass,
splintering concrete.
Outside, she tumbled through the night sky, coughing blood,
her wings folding and flaring just to stay airborne.
Her bones screamed in pain.
Her lungs burned.
> "Too strong… he's too strong!"
Panic clawed up her throat.
That single punch had almost killed her—
and she was one of the Syndicate's top-tier fighters!
She'd thought Wonder Woman was terrifying,
but compared to this man?
Diana was human.
Alex wasn't.
He was something else entirely.
What the hell is he?!
Her body trembled.
Every instinct screamed the same thing—
Run.
So she did.
She spread her wings and shot through the sky like a silver comet.
BOOM!
A sonic boom cracked behind her.
Her heart seized in terror.
No way…
She looked up—
and her blood ran cold.
He was there.
Floating above her, arms folded,
gazing down with calm amusement.
> "You—You can FLY?!"
Her voice broke in disbelief.
That shouldn't be possible.
He wasn't Kryptonian—was he?!
> "In such a hurry—where do you think you're going?"
Alex's tone was mild.
Almost teasing.
The air shimmered.
Two beams of heat vision cut through the darkness again.
Silver Swan twisted desperately,
barely avoiding them,
and yanked a small vial from her belt.
Her last resort.
Formula No. 1—
Poison Doctor's strongest enhancement serum.
Without hesitation, she jammed it into her arm.
Whoosh!
Power flooded her veins like liquid fire.
Her screams echoed through the night as her body convulsed.
The pain was unbearable—
but along with it came strength.
Real, monstrous strength.
Her bones knit.
Her shredded muscles reformed.
And her aura exploded outward, crackling with raw energy.
Her eyes flared silver.
> "Let's see how long that arrogance lasts, Alex!"
She launched forward like a missile,
the shockwave tearing open the clouds.
