"You didn't do your work again today. Show me your hand," the teacher scolded a boy.
"Sir,"
"My grandfather passed away, so I couldn't complete my work. I promise I'll bring it from now on," Dharmesh said.
"Save these excuses for someone else, not me. Show me your hand," the teacher replied.
Dharmesh slowly extended his hand forward, and the teacher began hitting his hands with a stick. After five or six strikes, the teacher said, "If you don't do your work next time, I'll beat you even more."
Dharmesh looked at his hands and quietly returned to his seat. The marks from the stick were clearly visible on his hands.

After class ended, the teacher left the room. As soon as he stepped out, Rocky came to Dharmesh.
Rocky was Dharmesh's friend.
"You get beaten up every day. At this rate, you're going to fail, and then you'll have to stay back another year with that teacher. You know what he does to the students who fail his class. You won't survive," Rocky said and laughed at Dharmesh.
As soon as school ended, Dharmesh rushed home. He didn't want to stay even a minute longer, afraid that he might run into the teacher on the way.
"You're back? Your teacher called to say you didn't do your work again today," said Dharmesh's father, Ayush.
Ayush looked very angry at that moment. Dharmesh was his only son, and he wanted to see him score good marks.
"Until you complete your work, don't even think about stepping out of this house. Or I'll break your leg," his father yelled. Dharmesh quickly went to his room.
"Is that any way to speak to your child?"his mother, Kusum Devi, said to his father.
"He needs to be scared. Otherwise, he won't focus on his studies and he'll fail,"Ayush replied.
"Just wait and see, he'll pass with good marks this time," Kusum said.
In his room, Dharmesh tried to do the homework assigned that day. But he couldn't understand any of it, especially since math was his weakest subject. This filled him with fear about what would happen to him the next day.
Many dark thoughts ran through Dharmesh's mind, even thoughts of hurting himself just to escape all of this.
He continued working for a while longer. After some time, his mother Kusum came into his room.
You've been working for a long time, son. Do the rest later. For now, come with me to your grandfather's house," she said.
Dharmesh's grandfather had been a great scientist working on a major project, but he passed away before he could complete it. The project was left unfinished.
Dharmesh nodded and left with his mother.
Upon arriving at his grandfather's house, Dharmesh began exploring. He was never allowed to wander around this house when his grandfather was alive. But now, he was seeing it properly for the first time.
While exploring, Dharmesh reached the basement, which was quite messy. He was about to leave when he noticed another hidden chamber. Curious, he opened it and stepped inside.
"A basement within a basement? Why would Grandpa build this?" Dharmesh wondered.
It was dark inside. Dharmesh began searching for a light switch. His hand brushed against something strange, and suddenly, another door opened. A bright light shone from within, making it hard for Dharmesh to even open his eyes.
He stepped forward to see what was behind the door — and was shocked. The door led to a cave.
As Dharmesh exited the cave, his eyes widened in disbelief. He had come out into a forest. The cave was on a higher elevation, giving him a good view. Strange creatures flew in the sky, and others roamed the ground. They looked bizarre and unfamiliar.
"Is this… another planet?"Dharmesh whispered.
As he tried to understand what was happening, a giant eagle-like bird flew straight toward him. It was many times larger than him, and it looked like it could swallow him whole in one bite."What kind of world is this…?"
