Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 Smith manor

Chapter 3

"New professor post at Hogwarts?" Arthur was stunned for a moment, as he too had heard about this news, and for a few days he too was thinking about whether to apply for this job or not, as he knew that the pay would pretty much be good to sustain his family, without having to rely on passing down things from one child to another; however, in the end he couldn't bring himself to a convincing point and the idea was dropped, but the same was not the case for Alan, so he said, "Oh, so you already had another idea in your mind; that's good; anyway, joining Hogwarts would be a good experience for you."

'Sigh, finally he understood.' Alan couldn't help but sigh seeing Arthur finally calm down and understand what he was planning to do.

"And moreover, if you get the job, you might even become my children's teacher; wouldn't that be good for them as well?" Arthur smiled; his anxiety from earlier was nowhere to be seen on his face.

After conversing with Alan for a few extra minutes, Arthur finally returned to his office, allowing Alan to take his leave.

Meanwhile, Alan couldn't help but praise himself, as he had applied for the post of professor at Hogwarts, a job that was pretty acceptable among common folks; as he didn't know what Arthur would've done to him if he had said he was planning to just study some material at home or was planning to search for ancient tomes to find treasure.

with the box in his hand Alan arrived in front of the elevator, and then, walking inside, he pressed the button for the main hall, which caused the elevator door to slam shut and a few letters to dance over his head, which continued for a few other minutes until the elevator got devoid of any letters.

The main hall of the Ministry of Magic is relatively large in size and is magnificent in view; the dark wooden floor has been polished to a high level and is pretty eye-catching for the newcomers. The blue ceiling is inlaid with sparkling golden symbols, which change and move, like a huge sky.

In the middle of the foyer is a fountain, and in the middle of the pool stands a group of gold statues, which seem larger than life; as the coins thrown here were used in a good cause, many of the visitors threw coins in the fountain without any hint of hesitation.

Alan, looking at the fountain, stopped in his tracks for a moment and then, putting his hand in his pocket, took out a galleon, and then, glancing at the statue, he threw the coin in the water, with hope that he would get what he desired.

"Alan, you're too generous." Just as Alan had thrown the coin in the water, two people happened to come out of the fireplace, one after another, and noticing Alan's act, they approached him.

Among these two people, the first one was a dark-skinned man, tall but bald with a gold ring in one of his ears, while the other was a woman with a pale, heart-shaped face, her eyes black, and her hair short and pinkish.

"Kingsley, Tonks, were you two on a mission?" Alan couldn't help but ask, as he recognized the two, as these two were doing a job that he wanted to do at first, the job of Auror.

"Something like that." Kingsley said, not really disclosing anything else.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Tonks, noticing the box full of Alan's things, couldn't help but ask, "Alan, did you really resign? I thought you were just joking when you said you wanted to join Hogwarts."

"What? Is that true?" Kingsley couldn't help but show slight surprise.

"Yes, I think the job of teaching students suits me more than this job of chasing after petty thugs. well, as long as Dumbledore thinks I'm a perfect candidate." Alan smiled and replied.

"Don't worry, you'll do well."

"Yeah, we believe in you, Alan." Tonks followed Kingsley while winking at him, and then both of them made their way toward the elevator, leaving him to himself.

Alan, watching them leave, smiled while shaking his head and then walked to the fireplace on the right, as the floo network is a common mode of transportation in the wizarding world. Alan grabbed a handful of floo powder and then, calling out the name of his destination, threw the floo powder in the fireplace, causing the green flames to emerge in the fireplace.

"Smith Manor"

Smith Manor, this house belonged to his parents and wasn't managed with much modesty, allowing some nasty creature to appear in the garden frequently. Meanwhile, Alan walked out of the fireplace, and taking out his wand from his robes, he tapped it on the luggage, allowing it to float in the house and then finally resting on its usual place.

Growl…

Just as Alan had sat down on the sofa, he felt his stomach growling in protest as he hadn't eaten all day, but as he was feeling so tired and was in no mood to cook with his own hand, once again he grabbed his wand and gave it a wave, allowing the pots to do their work on their own.

"Magic is really convenient." Alan couldn't help but smile, as a few minutes later the aroma of food began to waft toward his nostrils. The food, with the help of magic, was prepared in less than half an hour, and Alan, who felt like a hungry wolf, ate two portions.

"Burp… that tasted good." After downing the food and feeling full of energy, Alan made his way to his room and picked up a few books to review his knowledge; though he was confident in his own skill and moreover, if people like Quirrell and Gilderoy Lockhart could be selected to teach at Hogwarts, then why couldn't he?

Alan knew that he was, if not two hundred times, certainly a hundred times better than those two paupers, but at the same time, he was worried that if the interview was conducted in muggle style, then the question could arise from anywhere, so it was better to be prepared than to be sorry.
