"Now, we will be reading the will of Charles Francis Brown, so I must ask those of you who are not listed as beneficiaries to leave at this time." Froglip says.
As everyone goes to get up Ron speaks up: "Harry, Hermione, can you stay please?"
"Ronald, what's going on?" Lavender asks.
"You'll find out shortly." Ron says.
Harry and Hermione sit back down as everyone else leaves. Once everyone else has left Froglip pulls out a rolled parchment and shows them the Gringotts seal. Froglip breaks the seal, unrolls the parchment and starts reading.
This is the last with and testament of
Charles Francis Brown. This will is signed July 1, 1995 and negates any previous wills.
I, Charles Francis Brown, being of sound mind and body wish the following to happen upon reading of this will.
My daughter, Lavender Brown, is to be emancipated for 30 days.
I leave all my worldly possessions to Ronald Bilius Weasley, on the terms that he marries Lavender Brown within the 30 days she is emancipated and they agree to take care of Lilac Brown until she is of age.
"I don't understand." Lavender says.
"It all started last summer." Ron says.
=== Flashback ===
The fireplace inside the Leaky Cauldron flares up and Ron steps through. He looks around and sees Lavender's father, Charles, sitting at a table. Ron walks towards the bald and very plain looking man. Who is wearing a yellow shirt with a black zig-zag pattern.
"Afternoon, Mister Brown." Ron says as he sits.
"Good afternoon." Charles says. "Thank you for coming."
"Of course," Ron says. "Your letter said you had something you wanted to talk to me about?"
"Yes, I'm sure you're aware that I'm an auror." Charles says.
"Yes, Lavender told me."
"Did she mention their mother?" Charles asks. Ron shakes his head. "She left us for her old boyfriend, a musician, last I heard they were in the states."
"I'm sorry to hear that." Ron says.
"It's fine, but I worry what will happen to the girls if something happens to me. So, that's why I asked you here." Charles explains.
"You know I plan on marrying Lavender eventually." Ron says.
"I know," Charles says. "If something happens to me I want you to marry her as soon as possible and take care of Lilac."
"While I would love to do that, you know I don't have that kind of money." Ron says.
"You will," Charles explains. "I'm going to leave everything to you. The current laws stop the girls from inheriting real estate. So you will have a house, and I have decent enough investments that you can live off them for a few years."
"I'll agree, only because you can't leave the house to the girls." Ron says.
=== Present ===
"So we shook on it and he made me promise not to tell anyone until after the will was read. Which he changed the next day." Ron explains.
"What happens if we don't get married in the next 30 days?" Lavender asks.
"Everything will belong to Gringotts." Froglip answers.
Lavender nods then looks at Hermione. "You think we can arrange a wedding in that amount of time?"
"That all depends on what you want." Hermione replies.
"Something small, I just want our friends and Lilac for me. What about you Ron?" Lavender asks.
"I'm fine with that." Ron says. "I need to tell my parents what's going on, and have them sign so we can marry."
"Let's head back to Hogwarts and plan from there." Hermione suggests.
"Good idea." Lavender says. "Thank you for your services Froglip."
"My honor," Froglip says as he hands Lavender a scroll. "Here's a copy of all the paperwork you need to prove your emancipation."
Lavender takes the scroll. "Thank you again."
"I hope to see you both before the deadline." Froglip says.
The four teens step outside the room and collect their wands. "Hey," Harry says. "We literally have a vault of old jewelry, would you two like to see if we have some wedding rings you can use?"
"Are you sure?" Lavender asks.
"They're just sitting in the vault, so why not?" Hermione asks.
"You can consider them a wedding present if you want." Harry says.
"What do you think Lav?" Ron asks.
"Let's go look." Lavender says then looks to her sister. "Do you want to go with us?"
"May I?" Lilac asks.
"Sure," Hermione asks. "We don't mind."
#####
They enter the vault, Harry leading the way. The vault is long and narrow with jewelry displayed on stands on either side leaving a path in the center. "Welcome to the Potter jewelry vault."
"Bloody hell!" Ron says as he starts walking through the vault and picks up a large chunk of amber with a perfectly preserved insect inside of it. "How is this even considered jewelry?"
"Don't ask us," Hermione says. "We haven't put anything in here yet."
"Then where did it come from?" Lavender asks.
"Apparently one of my ancestors liked to make wagers, and won a lot." Harry says. "We even own an island because of him."
"Some of it seems useful, look at this cloak pin shaped like a leaf." Lavender says as she holds a green three-bladed leaf clasp with silver filigree.
"Look at this." Ron says as he holds up a golden necklace. "Tag says it's gold pressed latinum embedded with dilithium crystals." He laughs. "I swear it weighs a stone."
Lavender shakes her head. "Put that back."
Ron does. "Sis, look." Lilac points to a necklace, it appears to be a large blue diamond set in a heart-shaped frame of clear diamonds.
"Tag says it's cursed, and was found on the ocean floor." Lavender says.
"We don't know how much of what these tags is true." Hermione says as she holds up a pair of golden bracers. "The tag claims they're made of feminum, I still don't know what that is."
"Look at this." Ron says as he spots a golden gauntlet big enough that it would easily fit the troll from first year. Six different colored stones are embedded in the back of it. "That thing is just massive."
"I agree." Hermione says. "Whomever wore that must have been a titan."
Lilac gasps as she points out a broach shaped like a peacock with seven tail feathers. Each feather has a different color pearl. "Rainbow pearls!" She exclaims.
Lavender picks up the broach. "It's definitely magical, it's almost like I can feel the memories of the previous owners." She carefully places down next to a pair of earrings shaped like a cutlass.
As they continue back they see a glass case inside is a golden crown sitting on a red pillow. Also in the case are a pair of golden scepters and a golden orb. All of the objects are heavily jeweled. "Wow," Ron says as he looks at the crown. "That looks fit for a king."
"It looks awfully heavy." Lavender says. "Personally I prefer this." She holds up a golden tiara with a single red gemstone, when she puts it on the gemstone sits right in the middle of her forehead and the tiara sweeps up from there.
"You look like a princess." Ron says.
"That looks good on you, Lavender." Hermione says.
"I think it would look better on Tonks." Lavender says as she puts the tiara back.
"We'll have to remember that." Harry says as they continue back.
"This collection is just bizarre." Lavender says. "I mean who wears silver slippers?" She asks, holding up the aforementioned shoes.
"Probably the same person who wears these." Lilac says as she points to a pair of glass slippers in the next case.
Lavender sighs as she puts the slippers down. They all continue down until they finally get to a selection of rings. "I think there are more rings here than any jewelry store!" Lavender exclaims.
"No wonder you don't mind letting them look for wedding bands." Lilac says. "There must be a thousand rings here!"
"It does seem endless." Hermione says.
They look at the rows of time and see five rings set off by themselves. Three of the rings were gold and two were silver, all of them had have large emblems instead of gems. Upon examining the emblems they realize that they are: a globe; three squiggly white lines; one dark blue squiggly line; a flame and a heart.
Lavender examines the shelves and takes a pair of silver rings off of one of the shelves.. "Nice and simple, I think these would work."
Ron looks at the rings in her hand. "I agree."
"They are yours." Hermione says.
"Thank you." Lavender says. "I think we're ready to go." They all turn and start out.
"Wait! Look at this." Lilac says as she grabs a necklace from one of the displays and holds it up. The necklace consists of a charm shaped like an anthropomorphic beagle attached to a slender gold chain.
Lavender nods. "I've never seen anything like it. It's quite cute."
"Go ahead and put it on." Hermione says.
"Okay." Lilac says as she puts the necklace on.
"I like it." Ron says.
Lilac blushes slightly and starts to take the necklace off. Harry stops her. "Keep it." He says.
"Really?" Lavender asks.
"I insist." Harry says.
"Only if you're sure." Lilac says, hesitantly.
"Just promise to take care of it." Hermione says.
"I promise!" Lilac says. With that they leave the jewelry vault and head to the exit.
#####
They all enter the Gryffindor common room. "Hey," Lavender says. "You two mind holding the rings for us?"
"Sure, let's put them up now." Hermione says, then motions for Lavender to follow.
Once the girls head to the room. "Hey," Harry says. "We should go see your mom, and tell her what's happening."
"Yeah, good idea." Ron says. "She only agreed to not being there since I told I was going to ask you two to stay."
#####
Once in her and Harry's room. Hermione sits on the bed. "Everything okay?"
Lavender nods. "Just a lot of stuff on my mind."
"Anything I can help with?"
"I don't know, maybe?" Lavender answers. "The most obvious thing I have to figure out is where we can get married within 30 days and how to arrange it so all our friends can be there."
Hermione grins wickedly. "I have an idea."
#####
Harry and Ron come out of the floo at the Burrow. Harry quickly cleans both him and Ron off just in time for Molly to see them.
"Ronald, Harry." Molly says as she hugs them both. "What are you doing here?"
Ron sighs. "I have a favor to ask."
#####
The gargoyle moves as Hermione and Lavender approach Dumbledore's office. They go upstairs and find Dumbledore working. "Missus Potter, Miss Brown, what can I do for you?" Dumbledore asks.
"I'd like you to officiate the marriage between me and Ronald before we leave for summer break." Lavender explains.
Dumbledore puts his quill down. "Why so sudden?"
"We have 30 days, and this is the one way we can think of to get everyone together for a ceremony." Lavender explains.
"I was thinking they could have the wedding in the Room of Requirement, right before the farewell feast." Hermione says.
Dumbledore nods. "If you can get Molly Weasley to sign the appropriate paperwork I'll do it."
"The boys are on that as we speak."
#####
"Ronald, you told me you weren't going to marry until after you were finished with school." Molly chides.
"That was our plan, I swear." Ron says.
"Then why the change?" Molly asks. Ron looks nervous. "You didn't knock her up did you?"
"You raised me better than that." Ron says while blushing. Ron looks at Harry for help.
"Missus Weasley, I think it would be better if I explained it for him." Harry says.
Molly sighs. "Please call me Molly, after all you are an adult."
Harry nods. "Very well, Molly, here's what happened: Lavender's father left everything to Ron, on the condition that he marries Lavender in the next 30 days. It's so they can take care of her little sister "
"Is that true?" Molly asks.
"Yes, Ma'am!" Ron says.
"As you know the current inheritance laws prevent females from inheriting real estate." Harry explains. "This is a legal way to keep the property in the family."
Molly nods. "When is the wedding?"
"Friday, at Hogwarts, if you'll sign to allow it." Harry says. "Dumbledore has already agreed to officiate."
"Why so soon?"
"Lavender wants all of our friends to be able to attend." Ron says. "Most of them have summer plans."
"I'll agree, only if you'll agree to have a second ceremony for the family." Molly barters.
"I'm fine with that." Ron says.
"Lavender agrees too." Harry says, having relayed the request to Hermione through their bond.
Molly nods. "Deal."
#####
"Here, let me give you this before the boys return." Hermione says as she pulls a potion out of her trunk and hands it to Lavender.
Lavender takes the potion. "Is this the contraceptive potion?"
Hermione nods. "It's my last vial, but I can brew more once we get home."
Lavender tucks the potion in her robes. "I appreciate this."
=== June 14 1996 ===
"I must say, in all my years here I never knew this room existed." Dumbledore says to Harry as they walk down the hall toward the Room of Requirement. "How did you come by it?"
"Draco showed it to us during our second-year." Harry answers.
"I hope you have not used it for anything untoward." Dumbledore says.
"I assure you we have not." Harry defends. "This is where we have been training."
Dumbledore nods. "Makes sense."
They enter the Room, the door closes behind them. They both look around the large room with walls that look like they are made of glowing translucent crystal. Ron, dressed in his best robes, stands at a crystal altar.
"Hermione outdid herself creating this." Harry says.
"It is certainly otherworldly." Dumbledore says as he walks up to the altar. "You look good, Mister Weasley."
"Thank you, Headmaster." Ron says.
Dumbledore takes his place behind the altar and Harry steps beside Ron. Chairs appear in the empty space, leaving an aisle between them, and students fill them up.
Lavender starts down the aisle in a white dress complete with a veil and train. Hermione and Lilac, dressed in matching light pink dresses, hold up the end of the train. Once at the altar they release the train and take their places at Lavender's side.
Dumbledore clears his throat and starts speaking: "We are gathered here, friends and family alike, to share in the joy of the union between Ronald Bilius Weasley and Lavender Brown. If there is anyone here who wishes to speak against their union, speak now."
After a moment of silence Dumbledore continues. "Very well, now as they have written their own vows I will leave the next part to them, Ronald you may begin."
"Lavender, I probably should have asked Hermione to write this for me, but then I'd probably trip over the words." Ron starts and everyone chuckles. "I just wanted to say I love you, and will do my best to prove it to you every day."
Lavender smiles. "I'm glad you used your own words, you've always preferred to stand on your own two feet, and I'm glad that your wedding vows are no different. I know that there is nobody I would rather spend the rest of my life with."
"Do you have the rings?" Dumbledore asks.
Harry and Hermione hold up the rings."Ron, Lavender takes these rings and seal the bond."
As Ron puts the ring on Lavender's hand he says. "With this ring I seal our bond, now and forever."
Next as Lavender puts the ring on Ron's hand she says. "With this ring I seal our bond, now and forever."
"I now pronounce you bonded for life." Dumbledore says. Ron and Lavender kiss passionately, and everyone claps.
