=== June 27 1995 ===
Harry and Hermione are in their room when someone knocks at its door. Harry goes and answers the door, finding Amanda on the other side. "This looks important." Amanda says holding up a letter with the Hogwarts seal on it.
Harry grabs the letter and opens it.
Dear Heir Gryffindor and Heir Ravenclaw,
With the recent unexplained passing of the Slytherin's long-time governor Lucius Malfoy we need to formally induct his son as the next governor. I'm requesting an in person meeting at your earliest convenience.

"I was thinking we would try meeting him tomorrow." Amanda says as she holds up an opened letter.
"I'll go write him back." Harry says and heads off.
Once Harry is out of the room Amanda speaks again: "I need your help."
"What's the matter?" Hermione asks.
"Summon Munin, I'm not sure I can describe it." Amanda admits.
Hermione summons the dagger and hands it to Amanda. As soon as Amanda grabs it Hermione is assailed by the memory of Malfoy Manor.
=== Memory ===
Amanda approaches the poor girl tied to the bed, Peter is standing there watching as she slowly works a spell to change the girl's appearance. Once he realizes this process is going to be slow he leaves the room.
Amanda sighs as she works her magic making sure she can undo the process. She hates to leave the girl like this, but doesn't see a choice.
Peter comes into the room and sees the girl as an almost exact replica of a young Ginny. "Good work." He says as he goes to touch the girl.
"Wait!" Amanda says, putting herself between him and the girl. "The spell needs to sit for 48 hours or it will unravel."
Peter walks off grumbling. Amanda sighs in relief, she bought the girl time.
=== Present ===
Hermione breaks the connection and takes Munin from Amanda. "How long ago was this?"
"Unfortunately he wouldn't let me leave until the 48 hours was up so she's currently at his mercy." Amanda says.
"Damn!" Hermione says. She summons Rowena's grimoire, the pages of the book flip themselves. When they finally stop Hermione nods. "Here, we can put her into a form of suspended animation."
"How?"
Hermione gets up and walks to her jewelry box. She pulls out a silver ring with a pink stone. She holds it in the palm of her hand as her eyes glow blue. "Put this on her."
Amanda takes the ring. "Then what?"
"The charm on the ring will make them think she's dead." Hermione says. "Volunteer to take care of it then bring her here." Amanda nods and goes to head off.
"Wait!" Hermione says as she summons Hugin and hands it to Amanda. "Take this so I know you're coming."
Amanda steps up to Peter's door right as he opens the door. "Is the spell holding?" Amanda asks.
"Go check yourself." Peter says.
Amanda goes into the room and sees the girl laying there a complete mess. "I'm sorry I had to leave you, I hope that my spell dulled the pain at least." The girl nods, too weak to do anything else. "I'm going to get you out of here." Amanda slips the ring onto the girl's hand. The ring instantly vanishes as she goes into a death-like state.
Amanda has just enough time to clean the girl up before Peter comes in. "Well?" Peter asks.
"I'm sorry to tell you this but she's dead." Amanda says.
"What?!" Peter growls as grabs Amanda by the neck and slams her into the wall, pinning her. "What did you do?"
"Nothing," Amanda squeaks out as Peter makes it hard for her to breathe.
In another room Draco falls to the floor in front of Voldemort. "Get up!" Voldemort says kicking Draco.
"Can't breathe… Amanda in trouble… Pettigrew." Draco manages to say before he passes out.
Voldemort marches up the Peter's room and sees him choking Amanda. "Put the mudblood down." Voldemort says.
Peter quickly let's Amanda go, she slumps to the floor unconscious. Voldemort walks over to her and revives her. "My lord!" Amanda croaks as she sees Voldemort looming over her, wand in hand.
"What happened here?" Voldemort demands.
"I came to check on Wormtail's toy and found her dead." Amanda says, her voice coming back "He did not take the news well."
"The mudblood did something to her. I know it!" Peter says.
"What could this mudblood do?" Voldemort ask as he shakes his head. "This girl was a muggle. Wormtail you were just too much for her."
Peter nods. "Yes, of course."
"Now clean out the trash!" Voldemort commands.
Amanda nods. "Yes, My lord."
An hour later Amanda apparates to the Grangers. In her arms is the girl, a robe loosely wrapped around her.
Hermione is standing there when they appear. She comes and takes the girl from Amanda. "I take it the plan worked?"
"Not perfectly." Amanda says as she rubs her neck, bruises already showing.
"What happened?" Hermione asks.
"Pettigrew wasn't too happy with the news." Amanda says.
"Let me heal you." Hermione says.
Amanda shakes her head. "I should leave it. Otherwise they'll suspect something."
"Okay." Hermione says.
Amanda hands Hermione Hugin. "You can undo the changes I made, right?" Hermione nods. "Also, the ring disappeared once I put it on her. It's on her left ring finger." Amanda then apparates away.
Hermione takes the girl inside and lays her on the couch. She pulls out her wand and summons the grimoire then starts reverting the girl's appearance. She has just finished and allowed the grimoire to vanish when the floo flares to life. Harry and Madam Pomphrey step through the flames. Harry heads to the bag.
"Is this the patient?" Pomphrey asks.
"It is." Hermione says. "I just finished removing the cosmetic spell that was forced on her. She is wearing a ring that mimics the effects of the draught of living death, without the smell of the potion."
"I had no idea such a charm existed." Pomphrey admits.
"I found it in Rowena's grimoire." Hermione says.
"I don't see the ring, can you remove it?." Pomphrey instructs, and Hermione carefully pulls the ring off the girl. Soon as the ring is removed the girl starts to wake up.
"You're safe." Hermione says as the girl looks at her. "I have a nurse here that's going to try and help you."
Pomphrey casts the diagnostic spell on the girl. "She's in pretty bad shape." She pulls a potion out of her robes. "I need you to drink this, it'll help." She carefully helps the girl drink the potion, the girl passes out immediately afterwards.
"You gave her a potion." Hermione says.
"Aye, it's one of the few that's safe for muggles." Madam Pomphrey says. "Not that it mattered, despite everything her magical core is still in one piece."
"She's a witch?" Hermione asks, surprised.
"Aye, that's probably the only thing that has kept her alive." Pomphrey explains.
"So can you help her?" Hermione asks. Pomphrey nods. "We need to keep her existence secret for now."
"I can do that." Pomphrey says .
Harry comes back with a small bag. "Here, to help cover her expenses."
Pomphrey takes the bag and opens it, and sees it's full of gold. "I can't take this." She tries to hand it back.
"Please," Harry insists as he pushes the bag back at her. "Give it to her if nothing."
Pomphrey sighs. "Very well." She puts the bag in her robes. "I'll keep you updated on her progress."
"Thank you." Hermione says as Pomphrey carefully takes the girl and leaves.
