Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: In Coma

**Anna's POV**

"Elinda, what is it?" I asked, shivering. My whole body trembled as cold sweat trickled down my spine, but Elinda didn't respond.

Frustrated by her silence, I asked again, "Did you find her?" This time, my voice was sharper—desperation creeping in. I sprang up from where I was seated and rushed to where Elinda stood, looming over my son's unconscious body.

She was so focused, she didn't even notice my presence at first. Without lifting her gaze from Ethan, she finally replied, "I found her. She's the daughter of the Hillard family from the Moonlight Pack. Only she can save an Alpha. She's the perfect wolf."

Tears welled in my eyes as I knelt beside my son and gently cupped his chin. "My boy… I'm so sorry you're in this state. But I promise, you'll be fine very soon," I whispered, my brows drawn together, a hopeful smile stretched across my lips. I brushed back a few strands of his hair and kissed his forehead softly.

Then I turned to the staff standing quietly behind me. "Someone, prepare the most expensive gifts and send them to the Hillard family. We must act quickly—my son must wake up again."

"Yes, ma'am," they chorused before hurrying out of the room.

As soon as they left, I placed a hand over my chest and exhaled a trembling sigh of relief.

**At the Hillard Mansion**

**Ruth's POV**

"Beautiful! I can't believe it!" I screamed with joy as I opened one of the many gift boxes spread across the table—inside was a limited-edition *Ocean Eyes* necklace, worth nearly a hundred million dollars.

"Oh my God, this is stunning," I breathed, setting that box aside and opening another. My eyes widened, a shiver of excitement rushing through me. "Heavens! Look at this list—*The Lost Crown*, *The King Emerald*, a one-million-dollar yacht, and even *Maya Island*!"

My voice echoed around the room as I stared, nearly drooling over the luxurious treasures. I was lost in thought, entranced by the fortune before me.

"Mom, we're rich!" my daughter's voice snapped me back to reality.

"And with all this, the Moonlight Pack won't ever have to beg help from those bigger packs again," she added with her usual smug smile—though it quickly faded. Her brows furrowed, her mood shifting.

"Aria, what's wrong?" I asked, reading her expression.

"But Mom," she said, her voice strained, "all these lavish gifts... they're just to force me into marrying some Alpha in a coma. I can't do this. It's disgusting. What will people say? Please, do something—I don't want my life ruined."

I chuckled softly. "Don't worry, my love. Alina will take your place. No one in the Moonlight Pack knows what you look like. We'll pass her off as you."

Just then, Alina entered the room, carrying a tray with a teacup.

"Speak of the devil," I muttered with a smirk, rising from my chair.

"Get ready," I said mockingly, "you're marrying the Nightshade Pack boy tomorrow."

My words sent visible shivers through Alina. Her hands trembled, and the porcelain tray slipped, crashing into pieces.

"Auntie…" she whispered, eyes wide with fear. "Isn't Aria the one getting married?"

"You'll marry if we tell you to."

"No! I won't marry a stranger!" she burst out, tears rolling down her naive face.

I cupped her chin firmly. "You don't have a choice, my dear."

"Yes, dear cousin," Aria chimed in, her voice dripping with condescension. "You, a lowly omega, should feel honored to marry the Alpha of the strongest pack."

"You think I don't know?" Alina shot back, her voice small but trembling. "The Alpha of the Nightshade Pack was poisoned with Moonshade flowers—he's in a coma. You're using me, and I won't let you."

Before she could say another word, I slapped her hard across the face.

"Forgot your mother's still in the hospital? Refuse to marry, and you'll never see that wretched woman again."

Her defiance crumbled instantly. Shoulders slumped, eyes cast down.

"Now, will you listen?"

"…I will," she murmured.
