"You wanna talk about it?" Cass's voice was soft as she snuggled against me.
I shook my head and drew the blanket closer. "Sleep, Cass."
She didn't push, which I was grateful for. Instead, she wrapped her arms around me even tighter and shifted so she was curled to my side.
"I'm glad you're home," she whispered.
"Me too," I said, though my voice was quieter than I'd intended.
The next morning, sunlight came through the curtains and landed on my face, which made me groan and pull the blanket over my head. But it was too late, I was already wide awake.
Cass was still asleep beside me. I placed a kiss on her forehead before exiting the room. Christopher, however, was already wide awake. He was seated at the counter with a mug in his hand.
"Morning," he said without turning to look at me. "Sleep well?"
"Yeah," I replied and walked over to the counter to grab myself a cup.
