Chapter 7 - Digging Information

"Hello, I'm coming over right now." She didn't wait for the receiver to respond, as that was not her style. She smiled to herself as soon as she dropped the call. The blowing wind readjusted her long blonde hair backward, and it shone as the sun gave up its ray. Slowly, she climbed down the train, adjusting her black glasses. She walked in sync with her language, and unintentionally, she was admired by passersby.

Celeste had become successful over the years as a contractor, working for notable companies overseas before coming over to Paris. As she walked out of the airport, the designated driver she had already called was waiting for her. She entered the car and told him her destination.

As she settled into the car, Celeste changed the music she was listening to, removing one of her ear pods. Her beauty was undeniable, with her long blonde hair cascading down her back like a river of gold. Her black glasses framed her face perfectly, commending her striking features. Her skin glowed with a warm, golden undertone, and her full lips curved into a subtle smile as she hummed along to the music.

"Celeste!" Cassian called out after staring at her long red coat that covered her white crop top and tight-fitted blue jean trousers.

"You're beautiful as ever," Cassian said as she was now two feet close to him. Celeste smiled, replying to him, "Thank you." "You didn't even settle down home before coming over, when I saw your call, I was awed," Cassian continued. "You never cease to amaze me."

"That's me, Cassian, I am full of surprises," Celeste replied, her voice playful.

Celeste followed Cassian as he entered his company's entrance, where they had a meeting to discuss some of the contracts Cassian was working on. Cassian collected her luggage bag, and as they walked in the hallway, every worker greeted them with a bow of their heads, mesmerized by the beauty beside their boss.

The workers' faces were dazzling with admiration as they gazed at Celeste. Some of them couldn't help but stare, taking in her stunning features and elegant demeanor. Others whispered to each other, speculating about her identity and her relationship with Cassian.

When they entered the office, Cassian offered Celeste a drink, which she accepted. They sat adjacent to each other, and Celeste's gaze surveyed his office until her eyes landed on a framed photograph on his desk. The photograph brought back memories of their past encounters, and Celeste's eyes lingered on it for a moment.

The office was decorated with sleek, modern furniture, and the walls were adorned with abstract artwork. Celeste's eyes scanned the room, taking in the various decorations and mementos that Cassian had collected over the years. Her gaze landed on a small, intricately carved wooden box on Cassian's desk, and she felt a pang of nostalgia.

As they discussed the contracts, Celeste asked Cassian about his recent product, which had generated billions in revenue. Cassian smiled, covering up the fact that he had stolen the template from another company. "My team worked tirelessly to develop the product," he said confidently. "We conducted extensive market research and testing to ensure its success."

Celeste listened intently, her eyes narrowing slightly as she processed the information. She knew that Cassian was a shrewd businessman, and she wasn't surprised that he had managed to create a successful product. However, she also knew that he was capable of bending the truth to suit his purposes.

After they finished discussing the contracts, Cassian asked, "So, my dear, tell me how you survived in China," he asked, curiosity getting the better of him. Celeste smiled, her eyes glinting with amusement.

"Save that for another day, friend," she replied.

"At the moment, I want a place I can lay my back."

Cassian chuckled, understanding her hint.

"Oh, my bad. You need to rest, please do," he said, gesturing towards the door.

"We'll catch up later." Celeste stood up to leave, her movements fluid and graceful.

As she stood up, Cassian made a suggestion, "Or will my bed be better? It's actually softer." Celeste smirked at him, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

"Well..." She paused as if processing what to say. "Not today, though," she ended her words, leaving Cassian smiling.

Cassian watched her leave his office, his hand in his pocket.

"What a funny guy," Celeste muttered to herself as the elevator took her down. She entered the same cab, her mind ruminating on how she really survived in China.

"I must have been resourceful and determined."

When she got to China five years ago she decided to build a network of contacts and allies and that helped her navigate the complexity of businesses and the landscape as a whole, and with her skills as a contractor, she quickly established herself as a valuable partner, taking on high-profile projects and delivering exceptional results.

One of her notable experiences in China was working on a high-stakes project that required her to collaborate with local businesses and government agencies. Through her expertise and adaptability, she successfully completed the project, earning recognition and respect from her peers.

Celeste's thoughts were interrupted by the designated driver's voice, "We're approaching your destination, miss." She looked out the window, taking in the familiar sights and sounds of the city. She paid and stepped out with her luggage.

Cassian watched her leave his office with a mixture of admiration and intrigue. He couldn't help but be drawn to her confidence and charisma, and he found himself wondering what secrets she might be hiding. As he sat back in his chair, he couldn't shake the feeling that Celeste was more than just a successful contractor; she was a complex and multifaceted individual with a rich inner life.

"I need to know her hidden card." Cassian thought deeply.

He put a call across to his secretary... "Get me every information about Celeste Donovan."
