As expected, the one who had diarrhea again was only Ely.
But this time, maybe because it was his second time eating meat, or perhaps because Paige fed him herbs in time, he only had diarrhea twice and then it stopped.
"You two stay home and fix the clothes. Uziel and I are going out," Paige said. She was currently wearing a padded jacket borrowed from the army.
As for the two worn-out padded jackets she used to wear, she had left them in the cave for Winn and Ely to modify.
Uziel really didn't want to wear the new clothes to go hunting.
He wanted to wear his worn-out padded jacket, but Paige stopped him.
That jacket was too thin and couldn't keep him warm. Except for Paige, the other three already had frostbite on their hands and feet.
Paige felt that since they had become her men, she had the responsibility to take good care of them.
New clothes were no big deal. She would make sure they had enough from now on.
Frostbite wasn't a problem either. Later, she would make some medicine. If they used it all winter, it would heal and not come back.
She wasn't afraid of how thin or dark they were either. She believed she could slowly nurse them back to health.
Paige felt a real sense of achievement watching the boys she had brought home turn from skinny and dark to fair and chubby.
Wild boars lived deep in the mountains and usually came out in the evening.
They still had to travel, so it would be too late if they waited until after dinner.
So Uziel made flatbreads with dough for the two of them to take and eat on the way.
The dough hadn't fully risen yet, so the flatbreads were a bit hard, but more filling.
Uziel brought a machete and some rope. Paige went empty-handed.
If she knew the way, she wouldn't even have brought Uziel along.
Uziel led Paige to a pond deep in the mountains.
He had accidentally found this place before and noticed a lot of animal footprints around the pond.
After that, he made sure to avoid the area when going into the mountains, afraid he might run into a big predator and never make it back.
He was still very nervous about coming here this time.
They hid in a large tree nearby. Since it was still early, they quickly ate something to fill their stomachs.
During this time, a few small animals came over to drink water, but there still weren't any large prey in sight.
Paige leaned against the tree with her eyes closed. To someone who didn't know, it might have looked like she was just resting with her eyes shut.
But that wasn't the case. She was actually training her mental power.
She was currently at level one, so her sensing range was still very small.
With herself at the center, she could clearly sense everything within a kilometer, every blade of grass and every tree appeared clearly in her mind.
She could go deeper into the ground too, but that would use a lot of energy.
She still needed to save her energy to catch the wild boar, so she didn't want to waste it on things that didn't matter.
Soon, she "saw" a herd of deer approaching.
That was great, deer meat was nutritious.
Paige looked at the five large and one small deer and quickly gave up the idea because she realized that both of the female deer were pregnant.
She never harmed animals that were carrying babies.
The six deer drank water peacefully under Paige's watch and then left.
"Awwooo Awwooo" Not long after the deer left, a few wolves came over.
Uziel gripped the machete in his hand nervously.
Wolves? And several of them?
Paige reached out and held Uziel's hand, signaling him to relax.
Uziel looked at the small hand on top of his. His attention began to drift.
Paige was holding his hand. Her hand wasn't pale or soft, but it was small.
He figured he could probably wrap her whole hand in his own.
He looked at his other hand. Should he try holding hers with that one too?
Paige had no idea Uziel's mind was wandering in so many directions. Right now, she was excitedly watching the two large and three small figures coming over.
Those chubby, dark bodies made her feel really happy just looking at them.
Paige gently squeezed Uziel's hand and whispered, "It's here."
"Huh? What?" Uziel quickly turned around, feeling embarrassed about where his thoughts had just wandered.
They were deep in the mountains, how could he let his mind drift?
"Our food is here," Paige leaned close to Uziel's ear and said softly.
Uziel could feel her breath tickling his ear, which made his ears itchy, and his heart as well.
As soon as he thought about what Paige had said, he became alert.
Their food? Where would they get food from?
Oh, right, they came here to hunt wild boars.
Soon, two big wild boars appeared in front of Uziel, followed by three smaller ones.
He swallowed hard.
These must weigh at least three to four hundred pounds. Could he become their food?
No, wait, could they become his food?
Paige also swallowed. Wow, that's a lot of meat.
Since the weather was cold, there was no worry about the meat going bad. She could handle even more than this.
The five wild boars were casually drinking water when suddenly, bang, they dropped unconscious.
Paige put them all into her space before they even hit the ground.
Uziel watched the five wild boars vanish right before his eyes and rubbed them in disbelief.
In his mind, he had imagined all kinds of clever and intense scenes of Paige outsmarting the wild boars.
He had even made up his mind that if Paige got hurt, he would use himself as bait to give her a chance to escape.
But now? That was it?
It seemed like nothing had even started, and it was already over?
As they were getting ready to head back, Paige noticed a wild horse flash through the edge of her mental sense.
It had several injuries on its body and looked really pitiful.
"I just saw a lonely little cutie. Let's take it home too," Paige grabbed Uziel, who was about to turn back, and headed toward the spot where the wild horse had disappeared.
