Leila's head hurt, she felt a weight on the other end of the bed, that was when it dawned on her that Gavin was still at her apartment. She smiled like a teenager that just saw her crush. She was not the best judge of character but she knew that there was no other way to sugar coat it, 'Gavin cheated on Adele with her for the second time', she actually felt bad. If the tables were turned, she would have probably hated on the girl that was sleeping with her man too. She shrugged off the thought, it had happened and she did not actually regret it.
Gavin slept peacefully beside her, she watched him sleep for a few minutes, while resisting the urge to plant a kiss on his forehead, it was probably too lovey dovey and since they were technically not in a relationship, she basically did not have the right to plant forehead kisses, it felt too personal and intimate. His eyelashes were too long for a guy and it took all she had to not brush her fingers on it. Gavin stirred in his sleep and she stood up instantly, God forbid he catches her staring at him.
Her stomach growled, she was hungry. Breakfast it is then. She was not sure if she should make breakfast for both of them, it seemed like what couples would do and she was just sleeping with him, nothing more. But it would be nice to be his woman though, she smiled dreamily at the thought.
Leila made a simple breakfast of bacon and eggs for both of them, ignoring the voice telling her that it was too much. Anyways, he was a guest in her house and courtesy demands you to feed your guest and make provisions for them to feel comfortable. She made a mental note to get eggs when next she went grocery shopping, she would probably forget, she had the memory of a goldfish which was surprising because her field of work required her to remember things and be up to date with most business topics.
She was about to set up the dinner table when Gavin came outside, God! He looked so cute in the morning, Adele was probably enjoying so much being his woman, a wave of jealousy washed over her. She felt cheap for even engaging that thought in the first place.
The doorbell ringed and she was genuinely shocked, nobody ever visited her. She gave Gavin a quick kiss on the cheek and went to check who was at the door.
"Leila, how are you doinggg? It's been a while" Karen cooed.
Leila all but shouted, Karen was her first friend in New York, they lost contact over the years but she was surprised to see her again and in front of her house for that matter, "What are you doing Karen and how have you been? How do you even know where I stay? Girllll, I have so many questions, where are my manners? Come in sweetsss!"
Karen muttered a quick thank you as she stepped into the apartment. Gavin smiled at her and said his good morning in a husky voice. Leila could swear that her ovaries were singing at that moment, she was a goner.
"Do not mind me, you girls can have your conversation", to Leila, he whispered, " I am taking the day off, I'll be inside if you need me darling"
Leila blushed, to think he was being mushy in front of Karen, it made it seem like they were in an actual relationship"
Karen cleared her throat, "Damn! He's hotttt, where did you snatch that gorgeous man from"
Leila laughed, "Back to the important matter, how did you know where I live and what are you even doing here?Not like it is not good to see you but i am genuinely surprised, I have not seen you in like two years now and you just show up out of the blue in front of my apartment"
Karen smiled, "Actually, I was sent here by someone. Do you know an Adele Cooper? she is actually very popular among the millennials right now."
Leila's heart skipped a beat, "Adele cooper? I have heard about her, she sent you here? For what? Sorry for asking so many questions"
"It's fine Leila, ask away. Actually, I work at an advertising agency and Adele is one of the sponsors there. It is mostly business matters so I'll just skip to the important part, the post of a brand strategist opened up in one of our branches in Ohio and she brought up your name to the meeting, said you were a good person and you deserved the job. When she said your name, it was all too familiar and then I confirmed it was you"
