Ginta's body fell with a thud. Hisoka approached, searching Ginta's body and quickly found his Hunter License.
Not every Zodiac member was as careless with their license as Ging, readily handing it to others. Hisoka had just obtained the license.
Hisoka stood, and a sharp whistling sound echoed from the elevator shaft. Hisoka's instincts screamed danger, a feeling he'd never experienced before—a sense of threat even before seeing his opponent. This surprised even him.
Hisoka stared at the elevator entrance. At some point, Netero began walking towards him. Hisoka's eyes widened.
He hadn't looked away from the elevator, yet Netero appeared, seemingly materializing out of thin air.
'Impossible!' Hisoka froze, clutching his playing card, his gaze locked on Netero's approach. Sweat soaked his back in seconds.
Netero reached Ginta's body, glancing down. "A clean strike; the killing intent unleashed and vanished instantly."
Netero's gaze, though calm, concealed a murderous intent like a looming storm. Before the storm, there is always an unnatural calm.
Hisoka frowned, his Nen taut. Even at his best, it felt insufficient. Before the fight even began, he felt he'd be defeated instantly.
'The Hunter Association Chairman... this old man is terrifying. I only understand the pressure now that I feel it firsthand.' 'I'm no match for him.'
Hisoka lowered his head, looking at the playing card. The number and color surprised him.
"Kid, are you ready?!" Netero's voice boomed, like a death knell.
Hisoka narrowed his eyes. "Every second, I'm one hundred percent ready, Chairman Netero."
"Then, let's begin."
Buzz buzz buzz A solemn, sacred light emanated from Netero. He raised his hands, not like he was about to kill Hisoka, but like a devout believer in earnest prayer.
'Ah!' Hisoka was strangely excited. Even death wouldn't be so bad if he could witness this.
Netero's movements, though seemingly slow, were beyond Hisoka's comprehension. Hisoka realized it wasn't time slowing down; the movements were impossibly fast.
Suddenly, a figure dropped behind Hisoka, halting Netero's actions. Only after Netero lowered his hands did Hisoka realize his clothes were soaked in sweat, his spirit drained. He felt like he'd fought a fierce battle, even though nothing had happened yet.
Hisoka followed Netero's gaze to Kanzai, who had just vanished from sight.
'Another Zodiac member!' 'So that's why Netero stopped.'
He turned to Netero. "Shall we continue?"
Netero, who had been still, suddenly looked up, his eyes wide, at Hisoka.
"Kid! If you truly seek death, this old man will grant your wish."
The smile vanished from Hisoka's face. He watched Netero walk to the elevator shaft, his back exposed. Yet Hisoka didn't attack.
Only when Netero jumped into the shaft and disappeared did Hisoka breathe a sigh of relief.
"Whew!"
"What a terrifying old man."
"No chance of resistance."
"I almost died." He looked at the four of hearts. "My lucky number." He flung the card into a nearby wall. Turning to the outside, he smiled.
"He deliberately exposed his weakness to provoke me, huh!"
Bang! Sssshhh! Thud! Mizaistom slid across the ground, landing in rubble, blood trickling from his mouth. His right arm was horribly swollen.
"Why are you so much stronger?"
Mizaistom's bloodshot eyes fixed on Loki, who approached, blade in hand. He didn't understand why Loki's aura was so much more terrifying. Before, Loki was strong, but not strong enough to defeat them so easily.
Loki's aura was incredibly powerful—both in quantity and intensity. With a single, casual blow, he'd sent Kanzai flying. Mizaistom, after Loki had sliced Botobai, had his arm broken and was kicked into a pillar.
Loki's cold eyes slowly turned, finally settling on Mizaistom.
"Pathetic. Aren't the Twelve Zodiacs of the Hunter Association personally chosen by Chairman Netero?"
Thump thump thump! A series of rapid footsteps echoed.
Loki's brow rose slightly. He turned, his white cloak billowing as his aura surged. He swung his blade, striking the newly-appeared Botobai, who was now bleeding from a gash on his shoulder. But his eyes remained fixed on Loki, as if feeling no pain.
