Chapter 77 - HHES: Chapter 77

He had already booked a spaceship and planned to leave Yorknew City that night.

Loki's final smile haunted Dalzollene; he didn't want to risk being killed. If that monstrously powerful kid held a grudge, no one could save him.

Dalzollene valued his life more than his job as head of security. Since he'd provoked Loki, and wasn't sure if Loki would retaliate, he decided to leave immediately.

Beep beep beep beep beep beep! His phone rang. It was his private number; only Squala knew it. After hesitating, Dalzollene answered.

"Squala? What is it?"

"Captain Dalzollene, where are you?"

"I'm leaving Yorknew City."

Squala was stunned. "Because of Loki?"

Even now, Dalzollene was terrified of Loki's smile. His immediate answer surprised Squala; Loki had made that much of an impression on Dalzollene.

After a long silence, Squala sighed. "I'll see you off."

"Okay. I'll wait for you."

Squala drove out of the hotel, weaving through the streets. A red light stopped him. He rolled down his window, thinking about his long time working with Dalzollene, and their sudden separation. He looked at the crowd.

His gaze stopped on a girl with glasses, staring at him. Squala's brow beaded with sweat. Wasn't this the person who'd almost killed him outside the auction? He floored the gas pedal, running the red light.

The screeching tires caught Shizuku's attention. Franklin saw the car speed off. "Shizuku, do you know that person?"

Shizuku shook her head. "No."

"But he looked at you, then left quickly. He must know you."

"Maybe. Should we chase him?"

Franklin's gaze locked onto the car. "Of course!"

Cars whizzed past Squala's window. He didn't know where he was going. He hadn't expected them to be so brazen. Yorknew City's mafia was frantically searching for the auction attackers, yet they dared to appear in the city.

After driving a long distance, Squala checked his rearview mirror. No one was following. He relaxed. "They didn't find me."

Then, a figure stood in the middle of the road. The car headed straight for them.

Boom! The figure punched the hood, instantly denting it; black smoke rose. The tires blew out; the car skidded to a stop.

Franklin jumped out, looking at Squala. Disoriented from the impact, Squala raised his head. Shizuku stared at him.

Squala tried to escape but was pulled from the car.

"No! Don't kill me! It wasn't me! I'm just a bodyguard!" Squala cried, tears streaming down his face. It was terrifying; they'd stopped a speeding car. What kind of strength was that? They were monsters. He shouldn't have come out. It was too late to go back.

Shizuku hadn't recognized Squala, but hearing him, Franklin and Shizuku paused.

"Unexpected luck, Shizuku. Thanks to you," Franklin said, smiling.

Shizuku was confused. "Why?"

"Your scary face startled him, so he caught our attention."

"My face is scary?" Shizuku turned to look at Squala.

Squala tried to escape. Shizuku paused. 'Is my face really that scary?' "Don't let him escape. I'll contact the others," Franklin said, calling Nobunaga.

Meanwhile, Ivlenkov was eating dinner, sighing.

"I need a new job." He'd planned to stay until he found another, but today he realized he was nothing in the Nen user world. Working here was too dangerous. A normal life was better, even with lower pay.

He looked at the ceiling light, thinking about the wall of fire. 'If I had Loki's power, Alisa and I could live carefree lives.'

Boom! The door burst open. Ivlenkov stood up. A cold katana was at his neck. Nobunaga, still bandaged, glared at him.

"Sit!" Nobunaga said, his tone irresistible.

Terrified, Ivlenkov sat down. The cold blade at his neck made his back shiver. Franklin dragged Squala in, Shizuku behind him. Nobunaga entered last.

"Where's Uvogin?" Nobunaga asked. "Tell me in three seconds!"

"Three..."

"Two..."

"Wait! I'll talk!"

The killing intent paralyzed Ivlenkov. He glared at Squala; Squala must have told them the hotel location.

"Your companion is dead! The body was..."

Swish! Nobunaga appeared behind Ivlenkov, sheathed his sword. Ivlenkov's head flew through the air, blood spraying, landing in the corner. Ivlenkov's body fell. He hadn't felt any pain. This was probably his reward for answering.

Squala was stunned. Nobunaga sighed. "Too late!"

Nobunaga said coldly, "I'll personally cut off that flame kid's head."

Nobunaga turned to Squala, "Tell me everything you know, or I'll kill you."

"No! Don't kill me! I know a lot! Please don't kill me!"

The elevator opened. Loki and Kurapika stepped out, returning to the hotel.
