Chapter 6 - Chapter five [5] whisper beneath the moonlight

The moon hung low over Nezo this Friday night, just like always town of untold stories

For Godon, tonight felt heavier than most.

He lay flat on his bed, arms tucked behind his head, eyes locked on the slow spin of the ceiling fan above. Sam had gone home after a long, aimless walk. They hadn't said much, just strolled in the silence, watching the town breathe like it, too, was keeping something hidden.

Have you ever felt like you're being followed?

It repeated in his mind.

That prickles down the spine.

That low whisper of being watched.

Followed.

It wasn't the first time.

Downstairs, the murmur of the television and the faint clinking of plates meant Cynthia was still awake, probably with Daiana again.

A smile tugged at Godon's mouth.

Cynthia had changed lately, grown quieter, softer, . He'd caught her looking at Diana when she thought no one noticed. Their fingers brushing across notebooks, laughing too close. He didn't tease. Not anymore. Whatever it was between them, it was real. And that was enough.

He closed his eyes, trying to rest.

Then

Thud.

He sat up, heart thudding.

Another thud. Closer. From the backyard.

He crossed the room quietly, brushing aside the curtain.

The trees swayed gently. The wind moved like breath across the grass. For a moment, he saw nothing, just the stillness of night.

Then he saw her.

Angela.

She stood under the streetlight, arms folded, jacket hugging her body against the cold. She wasn't moving. Just… watching the house. Making sure he was safe.

It wasn't the first time she'd done that either.

Godon's breath hitched.

She looked like a storm in waiting. Fierce. Beautiful. Wild. Like something the wind forgot to carry away.

He raised his hand to knock the window then froze.

She looked up.

Right at him.

And smirked.

Then turned and vanished into the shadows.

Whether she walked away or the dark swallowed her, he couldn't say.

---

Elsewhere that night…

The forest on Nezo's edge wasn't supposed to feel alive.

Not like this.

Something moved between the trees fast, hungry, wrong. Not human.

Zik crouched near the stream, hand pressed to his ribs. Blood darkened his shirt,

 "They're getting stronger," he muttered.

A voice like cold steel replied, "You mean it is."

Judas.

The vampire prince leaned against a tree, arms crossed, the night curling around him like it belonged to him.

Zik didn't turn. "What do you want?"

"What you want, mutt," Judas said. "Answers. Or maybe just to see if you're still useful."

Zik bared his teeth. "This isn't one of your games. Something out here is hunting."

Their eyes locked crimson fire against silver frost.

Then

A scream. Far away. Humans.

They both moved instantly.

Zik vanished into the trees. Judas followed, slipping into mist.

Back at home…

Godon eventually drifted into sleep, but rest didn't come easily.

In his dream, he walked a stone corridor lit by symbols that pulsed with ancient light. The walls whispered in a language he didn't know. Each step echoed louder than it should've.

Then he saw her.

A woman with silver eyes and a crown of thorns. She stood behind a gate of bone and gold.

She lifted her hand, and in it, she held his face.

He screamed.

---

Morning came like an apology.

The smell of pancakes pulled Godon from the dream, warm light spilling through the window. He dragged himself downstairs, half-awake.

Cynthia and Daiana were already at the table, sharing quiet laughter over something on a phone screen.

For once, Cynthia looked unguarded. Happy.

Godon paused in the doorway, watching them. It didn't feel like spying,it felt like seeing something rear,

"Creep much?" Cynthia teased.

He smirked. "You love the attention."

"Don't flatter yourself," she said, rolling her eyes.

"Morning, Godon," Daiana added warmly, her smile genuine.

He sat across from them and stole a piece of pancake off Cynthia's plate.

"Rude," she muttered, but didn't stop him.

Daiana leaned in and whispered something into Cynthia's ear, and Godon watched his sister blush, laughing softly. He didn't understand their story not yet. But he is happy for his sister

Whispers Between Sheets

Golden afternoon light painted lines across Cynthia's bedroom. Daiana lay curled beside her, her silver hair spread across the pillow like starlight.

Cynthia brushed a strand behind her ear as Daiana's eyes slowly opened.

"You're staring," Daiana murmured, grinning sleepily.

"Can you blame me?" Cynthia whispered. "You're unfairly beautiful."

Daiana chuckled, shifting close. "Then kiss me before I lose my mind."

Cynthia did. Slowly. Softly. Familiar and new all at once.

Their rhythm was unhurried fingers and sighs, laughter tangled in sheets. Each moment felt like rediscovering the other all over again. Love wasn't fireworks it was this. Quiet. Warm. Unapologetically tender.

Later, under the covers, Daiana asked:

"Do you ever wonder what we'd be like… somewhere else? Normal?"

Cynthia kissed her bare shoulder. "There's nothing normal about how I love you. And I wouldn't want it any other way, truth, honesty and caring.Daiana promise me you won't leave me or hide something from me

Daiana smiled, but something flickered in her eyes.

A secret.

Not ready.

Not yet.

---

That Evening…

Near the forest's edge, Godon stood beside Angela. The air was colder here. Trees clawed at the sky, and something metallic lingered in the wind.

Shallow claw marks scored the bark nearby.

"Are you sure this is where it happened?" Godon asked.

Angela nodded. "Three reports. All say the same thing.smart animal killing people

He looked at her, worried. "You didn't have to come out here with me."

"Stop." She met his eyes. "Don't act like I can't handle myself."

"I know you can," he murmured. "That's what scares me."

Angela stepped closer, voice low. "And you've changed. You're not hiding anymore."

She touched his chest. "Whatever's inside you… it's waking up."

Before he could reply, a low growl broke the silence.

The beast lunged.

Angela reacted instantly kicking it midair, flipping back with flawless control. Godon raised his hand without thinking.

Boom.

The creature flew backward slammed into a tree.

Angela turned, stunned. "You…?"

He stared at his own hand. "I didn't know I could do that."

---

Meanwhile…

At the forest's edge, Sam stood breathless, heart racing. He had followed them quietly, carefully but what he'd seen?

That thing, the beast

Godon… wasn't just his quiet friend anymore.

He turned and ran toward the town.

Toward his father.

---

Later at the crime scene…

Detective Marshal Rein stood before a set of claw marks carved into stone. They weren't from any human or werewolf.

He frowned.

Then turned as someone rushed in.

"Dad!"

"Sam? What the hell are you doing here?"

"We found the beast. I just came to check on you. Make sure you're okay."

Marshal narrowed his eyes. "We?"

Sam paused. "Me and Godon. He's heading home now."

The detective sighed. "You're not going back alone. Officer take him home."

He added, more gently, "Next time you and Godon want to get into trouble, bring me with you."

Sam smiled, heart pounding, as he climbed into the patrol car.
