Chapter 1 - I am the Answer to Life

I am the Answer to Life

A Cultivation Novel: A Fantasy Tale:Romance Novel

In the 1980s, in a rural village in China, a woman—heavily pregnant—was riding a sturdy "28-bar" bicycle on her way back to her mother's home. The bike hit a few stones on the path, and she fell hard to the ground, her pregnant belly soon covered in bruises and purplish marks. A few days later, the baby girl was born.

Her aunt—her mother's elder sister—came to visit and, upon seeing the newborn, remarked, "Why is she so small and so ugly?"

And so, this tiny, homely baby girl named Sandland began her journey of witnessing birth, aging, sickness, death, sorrow, grief, and suffering, of witnessing the world, of witnessing the truth of the universe, of life, and of culture.

Sandland's life had four turning points:

First: She left the countryside for the city, where she experienced discrimination from urban children.

Second: She moved from a mid-sized city to Beijing and felt the overwhelming pressure of the metropolis crushing the smaller city.

Third: She left Beijing for the United States—and walked toward God.

Fourth: She returned to China—and walked from God toward the Buddha.

[The minds and dispositions of modern people are all crooked and flawed, making true spiritual cultivation very difficult.]

BuddhaRonnie:The temperaments of modern people are like misshapen fruits—it's hard for them to cultivate.

Lotus: Misshapen fruits are good—untouched by carving or polish.

Sandland: Why do you say modern people's temperaments are like misshapen fruits?

BuddhaRonnie: Language carries temperament. The void is untouched by dust.

Fateleth:Turning back is the shore.

Young Master Ji heard these words, twisted his head and realized—he could only turn to the left or right. What if he couldn't turn back? Without hesitation, with a crack, he twisted his head all the way around to the back.

BuddhaRonnie: That which gives rise to life does not itself arise. That which ceases does not itself cease. Movement and stillness are two appearances—clearly understood, they do not arise. The palm is movement, the back of the hand is stillness. The palm and the back are the two aspects of motion and stillness—but the hand itself transcends both.
