Chapter 161 - Chapter 161: The Imperial Soldier, the Jujutsu Student, and the Devoted Daughter

"Hey, we got new people in the chat group?"

Bulma was immediately intrigued, her curiosity sparking like Naruto spotting a new ramen shop.

[Bulma: Welcome, welcome! This is a chat group connecting different worlds. I'm Bulma from the Dragon Ball world, 16 years old, living in West City… @IronHead @EternalBroTanjiro, Mr. Minato, Eri, and Miko, come check out the newbies!]

[IronHead: Yo, I'm here!]

It was around six or seven in the morning, so Eri was probably still catching some Z's, dreaming of her favorite Naruto episodes. Minato and Miko hadn't popped in yet either.

Tanjiro, on the other hand, was full of energy, jumping into the group to introduce himself and explain how "you can just think to type and chat." He'd been totally thrown off by that when he first joined—took him days to wrap his head around it, kinda like Naruto struggling with a new jutsu.

But Bulma noticed something else—

[Bulma: Hold up, one of the newbies has 'Haunted by Demons' as their tag? Is that a friend of yours, Miko? @YotsuyaMiko]

[YotsuyaMiko: …I doubt it's that much of a coincidence. Didn't Miss Hikari say we're all from different worlds?]

[YotsuyaMiko: But if this 'Haunted by Demons' person is actually dealing with some kind of ghost trouble, they should speak up! Miss Hikari and Miss Kikyo are pros at handling that stuff. I'm just starting to learn, but I'll do my best to help if you need me!]

At that moment, the new group members started to stir.

The one tagged as "Haunted by Demons" spoke first:

[HauntedByDemons: …I'm not totally sure what's going on here, but thanks for the warm welcome. I haven't seen any ghosts yet, but if I do, I'll definitely hit you up for advice.]

[HauntedByDemons: Oh, and by the way, I'm Brand, 25, male. Used to be an imperial soldier, but now I'm just kinda… wandering.]

"Brand…"

Hikari Uchiha, silently lurking in the chat like a Sharingan-wielding ninja, muttered to herself, Just as I thought.

Brand, from the Akame ga Kill! world, was a Teigu user with the nickname "Hundred-Man Slayer." He was a former imperial soldier who defected to the Revolutionary Army after getting fed up with the Empire's corruption, becoming their go-to assassin. His "Haunted by Demons" tag referred to his Teigu, a special piece of gear from his world. Teigu were like the ultimate ninja tools, crafted a thousand years ago by the Empire's founder. Brand's "Haunted by Demons" was an armor-type Teigu made from the body of a super-dangerous beast called Tyrant, giving its wearer insane close-combat power. In theory, it could even fuse with the user and evolve, not unlike how a tailed beast like Kurama bonds with its host. But that kind of fusion wasn't exactly a picnic—it was more like a curse than a blessing.

Brand didn't have to worry about that, though. According to the Akame ga Kill! storyline, he wouldn't live long enough for it to become an issue…

As for the other two newcomers…

"Tiger of Nishinaka" was, no surprise, likely a vessel for Sukuna, the King of Curses.

[TigerOfNishinaka: Whoa, this is wild! You guys are really from different worlds? I'm Yuji Itadori, a student at Jujutsu High, 15 years old. Nice to meet you all—looking forward to getting to know you!]

[YotsuyaMiko: Wait, Yuji Itadori, you live in Tokyo too? What's Jujutsu High? Is that a school in Tokyo?]

[Nameless: Your Tokyos probably aren't the same. Jujutsu High's full name is Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College. It's a place that trains students to deal with curses—think of it like a modern-day Demon Slayer Corps.]

[IronHead: Huh? Miss Hikari, you know who Yuji is?]

[Nameless: I know a little something.]

Truth be told, Hikari Uchiha was probably the only one in the group who knew who Brand and Yuji were. They were both from anime worlds, but Akame ga Kill! started as a manga in 2010 and got an anime in 2014, while Jujutsu Kaisen didn't hit the scene until 2018. Even Eri, who was from the Dragon world, wouldn't have access to their source material.

Of course, by 2009, the seeds of Akame ga Kill! were probably already floating around. If someone in the Dragon world tracked down the manga's creator, they might dig up some info—but why bother?

Meanwhile, Bulma pinged the third new member, "Oni Princess."

[Bulma@OniPrincess: So, who's this friend?]

[OniPrincess: …I'm Kaido's son. You can call me Kozuki Oden!]

[Nameless: Lol.]

Hikari's guess was spot-on.

"Oni Princess" was Yamato, daughter of Kaido, one of the Four Emperors from the One Piece world.

And "Kozuki Oden"?

That was the name of the person she idolized—the former daimyo of Wano Country. Oden was a larger-than-life figure: born into a powerful family, beloved by his people, and strong enough to go toe-to-toe with Kaido himself. But his intelligence? Let's just say he made Naruto's early days look like a tactical genius. Oden had all the cards—a royal flush, even—but got played by the simplest of tricks, basically jumping into a boiling pot and cooking himself alive.

Talk about a dumb move.

Hikari figured even a dimwit like Fenrir, the wolf from Dragon, could've done better in Oden's shoes.

As for Yamato's obsession with Oden… it was hard to judge. Growing up in a messed-up family with a dad like Kaido—a shady, abusive jerk who ruled with an iron fist and a club—didn't exactly set her up for success. No school, no friends, just a copy of Oden's Journal to cling to. In that kind of environment, it was a miracle she wasn't more messed up.

[Nameless@OniPrincess: Miss Oden, mind if I ask how old you are?]

[Bulma: Wait, Miss? Didn't she say 'son'?]

[EternalBro: …Sorry, I was chatting with the Nine-Tails and missed the group messages. I'm not sure what's going on, but the system's tags are usually spot-on, right? 'Princess' is definitely a female title. Does Miss Hikari know something we don't? @Nameless]

[Nameless: Hmm…]

Back in reality, Hikari Uchiha dug through a stack of manga books, pulling out a few One Piece volumes. She handed one to Bulma, who was sitting across from her, and uploaded the rest to the group chat.
