Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

I woke up to the sound of birds chirping outside my window. The sunlight streaming through the curtains was warm and inviting, and I felt a sense of peace wash over me. It was a new day, a new beginning.

As I got out of bed, I noticed that Julian was already up and about. I could hear the sound of him moving around in the living room, and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air.

I took a quick shower and got dressed, feeling a sense of excitement and nervousness. What would the day bring? Would Julian and I start to get to know each other better?

As I entered the living room, Julian looked up from his phone and smiled. "Good morning," he said, his voice low and smooth.

I smiled back, feeling a sense of warmth spread through my chest. "Good morning," I replied, taking a seat next to him on the couch.

Julian handed me a cup of coffee, and I took a sip, feeling the rich flavor fill my senses. We sat there in comfortable silence for a moment, sipping our coffee and enjoying the peaceful morning.

But as the silence stretched on, I couldn't help but feel a sense of curiosity. What was Julian thinking? What were his plans for our future together?

I turned to him, my eyes meeting his. "Julian?" I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

"Yes?" he replied, his eyes locking onto mine.

"What do you want from me?" I asked, my voice a little louder now.

Julian's expression changed, his eyes narrowing slightly. "I want you to be my wife," he said, his voice firm. "I want you to stand by my side and support me."

I nodded, feeling a sense of determination. I would do that, I thought. I would be the wife he needed.

But as I looked into his eyes, I saw something there that gave me pause. Something that made me wonder if there was more to Julian's words than met the eye.

As I looked into Julian's eyes, I saw a flicker of intensity that made my heart skip a beat. It was as if he was hiding something, something that he didn't want me to see. But I couldn't quite put my finger on it.

"I'll do my best," I said, trying to sound confident. "But I need to know what's expected of me."

Julian's expression softened slightly, and he reached out to take my hand. "You'll learn," he said. "Just be yourself, and we'll figure it out together."

I nodded, feeling a sense of uncertainty. What did he mean by "figure it out together"? Did he mean our marriage, or something more?

As we finished our coffee, Julian stood up and pulled me to my feet. "Let's go for a walk," he said. "I want to show you around the estate."

I nodded, feeling a sense of excitement. The estate was beautiful, with rolling hills and gardens that seemed to stretch on forever. As we walked, Julian pointed out different landmarks and told me about the history of the estate.

But despite the beauty of the surroundings, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. Julian seemed... distant, as if he was hiding something from me.

As we walked, I noticed that the gardens seemed to be surrounded by high walls, with iron gates that looked imposing. "Why are the walls so high?" I asked Julian.

He glanced at me, his expression neutral. "Security," he said. "The estate has been in my family for generations. We have to be careful."

I nodded, feeling a sense of unease. What kind of threats was the estate facing? And why did Julian seem so... guarded?

As we continued our walk, I couldn't help but wonder what secrets Julian was hiding. And what lay beyond the walls of the estate.

As we walked, the silence between us grew thicker, like a fog that clung to our skin. I tried to break the tension by asking Julian about the estate's history, but his responses were curt, his eyes scanning the surroundings as if searching for something or someone.

The gardens were beautiful, but I couldn't appreciate them fully, my mind preoccupied with the feeling that Julian was hiding something from me. The way he glanced around, his eyes darting from one point to another, made me feel like I was walking alongside a stranger.

After a while, Julian stopped in front of a large fountain, the water cascading down in a soothing melody. "This was my mother's favorite spot," he said, his voice low and contemplative.

I looked at him, sensing a glimmer of sadness in his eyes. "Tell me more about her," I said, my voice soft.

Julian's gaze drifted away, his eyes fixed on some point in the distance. "She was... fragile," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "The world was too much for her, and she couldn't cope."

I felt a pang of sympathy, sensing the pain that still lingered in Julian's heart. "I'm sorry," I said, my voice sincere.

Julian's gaze snapped back to mine, his eyes intense. "Don't pity me," he said, his voice firm. "I'm not weak."

I took a step back, surprised by the ferocity in his voice. "I wasn't pitying you," I said, trying to calm him down. "I was just... empathizing."

Julian's expression softened slightly, and he took a deep breath. "I'm sorry," he said, his voice a little more controlled. "It's just... complicated."

I nodded, sensing that there was more to Julian's story than he was letting on. "It's okay," I said, trying to reassure him. "I'm here to listen, whenever you're ready to talk."

Julian's gaze lingered on mine, and for a moment, I thought I saw a glimmer of vulnerability. But then, his mask slipped back into place, and he turned away, his eyes scanning the surroundings once more.

As we stood there, the tension between us grew thicker, like a physical presence that pressed against my skin. I felt like I was walking on eggshells, unsure of what would trigger Julian's temper or make him withdraw into himself.

Suddenly, Julian's head jerked up, his eyes fixed on something in the distance. "We need to go," he said, his voice low and urgent.

I followed his gaze, but I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. "What's wrong?" I asked, feeling a sense of unease.

Julian's grip on my arm tightened, and he pulled me towards the mansion. "Just trust me," he said, his voice firm.

I stumbled alongside him, my heart racing with anticipation. What was happening? And why was Julian so agitated?

As we reached the mansion, Julian pushed me inside, his eyes scanning the surroundings one last time before he slammed the door shut behind us.

"What's going on?" I asked, feeling a sense of fear creeping in.

Julian's eyes locked onto mine, his expression intense. "You're safe," he said, his voice low and reassuring. "I'll always protect you."

But as I looked into his eyes, I wondered if he was trying to protect me from something outside, or something within himself.
