Meanwhile, inside the penthouse, Zane reached for his mug from the cupboard and moved toward the kitchen island. He needed his roasted coffee that morning—to keep himself grounded against the daunting feeling of being invisible during Selina's celebration.

As he pressed the coffee machine to fill his cup, his hearing sharpened toward the living room across from him, where voices drifted in despite his distant composure.

"Last night was extremely fun! Not my usual kind of fun, but…" Noah said, throwing his head back, his arms spread across the sofa. "It was more heartwarming than I've felt in a long time."

He chuckled loudly, shaking his legs as he relived the blissful moment everyone had lost themselves in.

"Yeah… I can see that. Your face was practically glowing," Damien said, still arranging a file on the table as he listened.

"Why didn't you join us?" Noah asked.
