Chapter 2 - An Unavoidable attraction

After staring at each other for a while, Adrian decided that they take a walk.

It was to ease the tension brewing between them.

The chamber was big, but the tension between them made it feel so small.

They took a walk in the woods.

Just to clear the air, even though the both of them knew it wasn't going to help.

Side by side.

And for a moment, their hands brushed each other.

Kylie shivered.

Adrian froze.

She cleared her throat, and decided to try to ease the tension in the air.

Do you mind...she took one look at him and continued?

" Do you mind telling me how you got into that situation last night?"

Adrian froze.

He clenched his jaw hardly.

His hands fisted.

Kylie noticed his change in demeanor and decided to drop the topic.

" Never mind, just forget you asked about that".

In a real sense, Adrian didn't want to talk about it.

But looking at her.

Seeing her brown eyes filled with so much curiosity, he couldn't hold it in.

" What do you want to know?"

She blinked.

I thought you didn't want to talk about it.

He nodded, but you saved my life, and you deserve to know how I ended up in that situation in the first place.

In logical reasoning, Kylie didn't have a theory to Adrian's situation.

Because the moment she saw him, even before knowing his identity, she knew he was powerful.

Despite being on the brink of death, he still excluded power.

The kind of power that is now making her feel strange, just by standing close to him.

She frowned at his response.

"If you don't want to talk about it, it's fine".

He shook his head, now dead serious, just tell me what you want to know.

She gave in.

Her curiosity got the best of her.

So she asked the first question that came to mind.

" Who poisoned and slaughtered you?"

He frowned deeply, even though he was the one that requested it.

But he replied.

"My brother ".

Kylie stopped in her tracks.

What?

Your brother did that to you?

How could someone do that to their blood?

Adrian tensed.

She noticed and kept shut.

But she wasn't wrong, how could someone do that to their flesh and blood?

It's not a surprise that Kylie knew Damien.

Everyone who knows Adrian knows he has a twin brother.

Damien Gravemire.

The second prince of Morvayne Kingdom.

From the stories about him, he was the opposite of Adrian.

While Adrian is cold-blooded and ruthless, Damien is more warm-hearted and considerate.

However that didn't stop him from being a great warrior.

While Adrian was the cold-blooded and merciless vampire prince who could set the world on fire.

The man whose name alone can send shivers down the spines of all creatures.

Damien, on the other hand, was empathetic.

Even though he was still great, he was the complete opposite of Adrian.

So that leaves Kylie with the question.

" Why would he do that, to his own twin brother?"

Kylie saw that he didn't like the topic, so she dropped it.

And the walk continued quietly, with Adrian stealing glances at her.

Watching her lips.

His breath hitched slightly as she smiled sweetly and licked her lower lip.

Unable to bear the tension anymore, he asked her a question.

" Why did you save me ?"

She paused and looked at him.

The intensity in his made her swallow hard.

" I just couldn't leave a weak and dying man, even though he is a vampire ".

Adrian nodded, but he was not satisfied with her answer.

" So if it were to be someone else in the woods that, would you have saved them?"

Kylie sighed.

Her heart skipped a beat.

Then she replied.

" I don't know ".

Her expression remained calm, as she allowed the late afternoon breeze to hit her face.

She closed her eyes, slowly, inhaling deeply.

Her eyelashes swept over her cheeks.

That made Adrian shift uncomfortably.

****

Both Adrian and Kylie thought that they could ignore it.

They believed that they could ignore the tension.

The urge to move closer and feel the other person.

But they tried to fight it until they couldn't.

It was nighttime.

Adrian was the first to bathe in a little lake beside the Shead.

He was on the bed preparing to come down; he would rather not inconvenience her.

Then she walked in.

He froze.

Adrian swallowed hard and tried not to look, but it was hard.

She was wearing a black nightgown that didn't cover much of her body.

The robe was actually see through, so he could see her some good parts of her body.

Her shoulders, her cream thighs.

He felt heat crawling all over his body.

Then his eyes landed on her chest.

The dress was showing a good portion of her cleavage.

Adrian could see parts of her cream breasts under the moonlight.

Kylie could feel her body warming up under his gaze.

She felt a strange fluttering feeling in her stomach.

Adrian was still lost when she spoke.

" I don't really have guests here, so I never thought of bringing less revealing clothes ".

And that wasn't a lie.

Adrian was the first person Kylie has ever brought to her hideout.

She scrambled through the closet for a blanket, and told him to sleep on the bed.

Adrian refused.

" No, I've inconvenienced you enough, I don't want you to sleep on the floor because of me ".

Kylie chuckled at his consideration.

"Don't worry, I'll manage".

Not all vampires are bad after all, she thought to herself.

Adrian bluntly refused, saying he is better, and can

sleep on the floor.

Kylie chuckled, making him smile.

"You are the one whose hurt, I wouldn't have a sick man sleeping on the floor ".

Adrian chuckled.

"Mind what you say, Little Wolf ".

"Little Wolf".

Kylie strangely liked the sound of it.

After arguing for a while, they both decided to sleep on the bed.

And that was both the biggest mistake, and the best choice of their lives.
