Chapter 13 - THE UNEXPECTED VISITORS

Haruko opened her eyes, having feeling the sudden rise of a raw, ragging energy from the genins' room. But just when She was ready to intervene, that energy suddenly faded out.

Normally, that wouldn't be a problem for her since she's the one in charge, as the hokage always makes sure every ninjas who is guarding Naruto for the night, and she can always submit her report the next morning. So the ninjas, she could handle.

The civilians, however, are another matter. They are too selfish, stubborn, rude, annoying, don't care about anyone else but themselves and above all, they are soooooo, Sooooooooo, So dumb. Due to that, it wasn't surprising to see a large mob, while wielding common sharp tools, charging at the hokage tower, ready to tear everything down and kill anyone on their paths. Only to scatter like scared sheeps when a CHUNNIN started spraying fire style Infront of them. And yes it happened, more than once.

So she wouldn't be surprised if some civilians marched to Naruto's home without second thought just to kill that 'demon'. "Pfff!" She couldn't help but chuckle. Killing the demon. As if. Even when the fourth himself couldn't. What are they, gods of Shinobi?

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps were heard, breaking her from her thought. But however, she couldn't help but chuckle. "Speaking of the devils." She exclaimed to herself as she turned to look at the source, only to frown in concern.

There, on the roadside connecting to the genins building, were about a dozen civilians all welding weapons such as clubs, torches and kitchen knives, angrily marching to the apartment like angry mobs who are demanding the closed up bank to pay up their money. Except those civilians possessed energy that didn't consider them as civilians, or ninjas either.

"You gotta be kidding me.!" She exclaimed in anger when she realized who they really were, hunters.

"I'm telling you guys, I felt it. He's right there." One said.

"Do we really have to disguise ourselves like that?" Another asked.

"It's the best solution so far." The one at the front, probably the leader, answered. "We're not supposed to be here in the first place. And we can't sneak around in a place filled with assassins."

"And how does this help?" A fourth asked, gesturing to their outfits and equipments.

"The boy she's staying with, according to our Intel, is wanted dead by the village right?" Their answer were their heads nodding. "That's perfect."

"What do you mean boss?"

"We'll launch an attack with the a scale large enough to end both of them. Even if it doesn't kill him, it doesn't matter as long as it finish her."

The others looked at each other, unsure about his plan.

Seeing this, the boss sighed "The girl is the target. But the boy will be the excuse."

"Huh!" Yeah, those guys are dumber than parrots.

"We disguised as civilians so everyone will think it was the civilians who attacked, not the hunters. Everyone will see it as another failed assassination. Their chief won't do anything because it's civilians, the family will be too busy hating either the the public or boy to search for us, the real killers, and we finally get to avenge our leader. Easy as taking a candy from a baby."

There was a moment of silence before:

"Whoa! I never thought of that!"

"Yeah. And it's sound so simple."

"As expected of our boss."

"Yeah. No wonder he's so good at this."

'More like you just dumb.' He couldn't help but think as he sighed. Seriously, how did those morons got their licenses in the first place?

Suddenly, he came to a halt as a woman just dropped Infront of him out of know where.

"Who's that boss?" The first thug asked when he saw her. But the boss didn't answer, as he was seriously studying the newcomer.

Long blond hair reaching her waist, with a smile that trick people of being friendly when they're the exact opposite, sleeveless light purple dress with the down open to reveal all her legs, black shorts being so short it's mistaken for boxers, a black pouch tighten to her right thigh, purple gloves and socks, both having wire mesh stretching out to past her elbow and right below her knee respectively, and a staff hung at her back.

Just from those, the boss knew he was dealing with someone expert in speed and techniques, a true contrast against his strength and brutality. And the fact that she has a ninja headband thighed on her forehead didn't make things easier.

"What do we do boss?" The sensor thug asked. Dealing with those ninjas wasn't part of the plan.

The boss just stared. Those ninjas were the reason why hunters took only monster hunting missions. Sure they were trained to fight, but against beasts, not people. And the one facing him seems to be a real time expert in that field.

'Honestly, the only reason I took this chance was because that old geezer Danzo promised to take care of the ninja bodyguards. But by her standing means that he either failed, which is unlikely, or he double crossed us.' he couldn't help but wonder how much of an idiot he was to trust that guy.

"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" The woman question broke him to out of his thoughts. "Wolf in sheep clothing I see? Gotta admit, that was a solid plan. That disguise could have fooled any ninja. Unfortunately," she took out the staff hanging at her back then spinned it while lowering it to her side before dropping to a relaxed stance "that trick is kindergarten level for me. Unless, of course, you cancel that mana filling you like a water filled bottle, then your chances will be a little better."

Narrator: In this world, everyone possessed magical energy in themselves which allows them to live in the external magical energy that surrounds them. But those energy are dormant as they are too low to do anything than keep them alive.

However, in the western continent known as Fiore, wether it is through hard work or talent, some are able to surpass those limits, making their energies flow through every part of their bodies. A process that doesn't just make them stronger, but also give them special abilities. Those people are known as the 'awakens'. Or hunters as they are commonly known.

"So you know we're hunters hen? Then you must be pretty stupid for taking us on our own." One of the thugs sneered.

"You bitch! Who do you think you are? We're all awakens, and each of us is way stronger than you'll ever be." A second challenged.

"Boss, give us the signal, We'll take care of her in no time." A third demanded.

But the boss didn't gave any order, as he was somehow scared of his opponent. For him, one of those ninjas is always a nightmare to deal with. Not because of who they are, but what they can do.

Narrator: The eastern continent, on the other hand, never got to awakening. But they however, managed to flow their dormant energies throughout their bodies in different specific pathways. With each structure representing a unique abilities, the ninjas, despite not being as powerful as the awakens, are known to be extremely versatile. This is what makes them unpredictable, and dangerous.

"We retreat." Was the boss final decision. He may be prideful, but not stupid. He wasn't about to lose his life in a flight he wasn't sure about winning.

Of course, the others didn't see it that way.

"What do you mean boss?"

"You can't be serious?"

"We have to avenge the beast brother!"

"It's just one woman! And we're awakens!"

"QUIET YOU FOOLS!" The boss outburst silenced them. "If you think just because you're awakens, you're unstoppable, then you have no right to call yourself beast gang members. There'll always be someone way stronger than you as long as you refuse to learn to become stronger and accept your weakness. So stop acting like little brats!"

Nobody talked, as they all felt the meaning of his words. Some even bowed their heads in shame as they felt spoken to directly.

"Besides, that woman may not be an awoken, but she's a ninja, trained to kill people, awakens or not. So you rookies will never have a chance." His gaze never left the woman who was still lazing standing there with an aura of confidence.

"Maa! You really believe I'll just let you all go just like that?" She asked before raising her staff to point at the boss.

Then suddenly, the staff stretched at supersonic speed, launching like a high speed rocket.

The boss, who didn't have time to dodge, brought out his defense at the last minute. {Armed defense} Energy flowed from his left hand to his right forehand to form a translucent shield as he braced himself for the impact.

"BOOOOM!" The attack hit him head on, but the speed was more than enough to still launch him off at high speed.

He was launched like a cannonball. Arm feeling numb due to the sudden strike. But he was still unconscious, and afraid of what will happen when separated from the others.

{Fathom arm} At the mentioning of the spell, an energy based demon like arm manifested over the left arm, in which he used it to anchor himself to the ground.

The drag was long and taxing but he was soon able to stop. He just got up when he saw the woman still Smiling, which gave him a chill on his spine. He looked around and saw kunais surrounding him with each having a tag hanged on the handle.

"Oh Shi....." "BOOOOM!" X 10

He didn't get to finish cursing as he was enveloped by multiple explosions.

"BOSS!" The sensor thug screamed as everyone was looking at the explosions in shock. Not believing what happened.

"So boys," they were broken out of their trance as the woman who called out was still in the same pose, the staff slowly retreating to it original length, "are we going to stand around here all day?" She spun the staff over her before going to her combat pose. Legs bent, and left arm at the front being in parallel position as the staff at her back. "Or are we going to fight?"
