Chapter 3 - 3

"Stop staring! What are you all doing? Hurry and pull them out!"

Captain Shan, full name Shan Dashan, was the captain of Red Bull Brigade in Huaihua Village.

When he came in and saw it was his youngest daughter, with a man on top of her, he went crazy. He rushed forward, kicked the man off her, and took off his own coat to cover his daughter.

He shouted at the stunned men and women nearby.

A few men quickly grabbed Malvin and Shun. One of them even took the chance to secretly grope Trina.

Both Malvin and Shun, completely naked, started acting shamelessly with the men who held them, hugging and touching them.

Captain Shan, seeing this, handed his struggling daughter to a few women, turned around, and told the men to drag the two scoundrels outside.

He was furious. His daughter's reputation was ruined.

He had known about the plan. Brian was just 21, already a deputy regimental commander in the army, with a bright future. They had planned to ruin Freya's reputation so his daughter could take her place. But things went completely wrong, his daughter ended up being the one assaulted.

Not far from the broken-down house was a big river, about two meters deep in some parts. Occasionally, fish could be seen, and some people had drowned there before.

"Throw them in the river. Let them clear their heads," Shan ordered angrily once they reached the riverside.

"Alright! I'll beat the hell out of him! How dare he touch me!"

Two strong men responded loudly. With evil grins, they shoved off Malvin and Shun, who were still clinging to them, and kicked them hard into the river.

As they splashed and struggled, yelling "Help!" a few local thugs kept poking at them with sticks to stop them from climbing out.

It was too dark, and they didn't notice that soon only one voice was shouting for help. They kept laughing and making noise. When no one was yelling anymore, they slowly went into the water to pull them out.

"Ah! No, no breath. Shun is dead!" One man checked Shun's body and cautiously felt for breathing.

Terrified, the man fell back and screamed.

The other men stopped laughing. They backed away in fear, hoping Shun wasn't really dead, or they were all in deep trouble.

"Dongzi, go get Doctor Zhou. Be quick and don't alert anyone!"

"Captain, you told us to throw them in. This isn't our fault!" said one trembling man, a relative of Shan.

"Yeah, Shan, I only came because you told me. You have to take responsibility!" said another strong man.

"I don't care! I'm going home. Captain, deal with it yourself!" said the man who had groped Trina earlier.

"That's right, Captain, we're all family. How can you let my husband take the blame alone?"

A woman who had been hiding came out, stood in front of her husband, and pointed at Shan angrily.

The young men, now panicking, started blaming Shan and pulled their wives, trying to leave.

"Stop! No one is leaving. If he's really dead, no one is getting away."

Captain felt a chill in his heart. Even though he wished those two troublemakers were dead, they couldn't die at his hands.

Old was actually named Ren. He was the only barefoot doctor in the village, with medical skills passed down through generations. He had saved many villagers and had a good reputation.

"What are you standing there for? Go get Old!" Shan turned and anxiously urged his nephew.

"Okay, Uncle. I'm going now."

Dong, Shan's real nephew, quickly responded and ran back to the village to find him.

He hadn't helped push anyone into the river, so he wasn't too scared.

After waiting about four or five minutes, people were getting annoyed by the mosquito bites. A few women finally came out, dragging the constantly twisting Trina with them.

Several men looked at Trina's seductive, twisting movements and saw the red flush on her face. They immediately forgot their fear and remembered the indecent scene they saw in the house earlier. Their minds started to wander.

They couldn't help but feel jealous. How could those two losers get such a great opportunity for free?

Before Freya came, Trina was the prettiest girl in the village. She was many boys' dream girl and the daughter of the Captain. Even the male educated youths chased after her.

But sadly, Trina had high standards and didn't like any of them.

Shun drowned? That was unexpected.

Interesting.

Freya rubbed her soft little chin thoughtfully. She had to stir things up more.

She quickly entered her space, secretly regretting that she couldn't see outside once inside. Otherwise, she wouldn't have to sit in the grass feeding mosquitoes.

But it was already great that her space came with her. She should be grateful.

In her space, Freya found a Black Wuchang costume and mask she had collected from a haunted house during the apocalypse.

Once dressed, she left the space and rushed toward Shun's house.

She stood at the entrance, speechless, looking at the three shabby mud-brick rooms. There wasn't even a courtyard wall.

"Great, can't climb walls," Freya mumbled regretfully. It had been years since she last snuck over a wall.

A month before the apocalypse, she'd been fighting over territory with her brothers and others. She accidentally injured her wrist and got a scar.

One night, the scar started to burn, and then the space appeared out of nowhere. She believed it was a sign from the heavens before the end of the world.

But for a poor girl like her, abandoned by her birth mother at three, nearly assaulted by her drunk foster father at eight, and forced to run away after cutting him with a kitchen knife, how could she afford to stock supplies?

By chance, her wealthy biological father's wife and child went on a trip abroad, and their plane crashed. They all died.

Back when the old man was young and had an heir, he secretly got a vasectomy so he wouldn't leave any future messes. That meant he couldn't have more children.

Of course, the old man wasn't willing to let his fortune go to distant relatives. Someone then reminded him that he might have left behind a child from the past without knowing.
