WebNovels

Chapter 4 - High risk: Sspend or die trying

"Where did you get all this money from, uncle?"

The little girl giggled, roaming around Solomon with a smile on her face.

Solomon's face, that had been cold for a very long time, was also smiling—not cold at all.

"You really wouldn't spare showing off to a little kid, huh?" the system said, but Solomon ignored its presence and spent time with his niece.

"Uncle, I feel like you are a protagonist in a webnovel—the secretly rich hero with a system."

Solomon's eye twitched, his hand stopping the action of rubbing her hair for a moment.

The system reacted, "Is your niece a sorcerer?"

"She's just 14. She enjoys webnovels very much," for the first time, Solomon settled down and answered the system.

"Do you want cake?"

"Yee!" his niece nodded as he asked.

Solomon smiled, bringing out an extra pack of pastries for her.

"Thank you!" Laura jumped in appreciation, taking all the packs for herself.

"Solomon!"

A shout came from his door. Solomon flinched for a moment, kept himself calm. Not long after, his grandma walked in along with his aunt and sister.

"Brother, since when did you start doing dirty business?" his sister Clara, with a fine healthy figure and long white hair like him, said, giving him a bombastic side-eye.

"Which dirty business?"

Solomon glanced at his elder sister,

Not showing any reaction to her fierce irony.

"Grandson, yes, you better tell us where you got all this money that you are using to solve our family problems slowly."

Solomon wanted to look at his grandmother and say, "I get more cashback by spending more on you."

"I got a fortune,"

He shrugged, crossing his legs.

It's not dirty money."

"I'll lose my fortune if I say," Solomon shook his head, being calm the whole time. His grandmother, sister, and aunty were forced to trust him on this.

"Well Solomon, I just hope you are not into something shady."

"Of course I'm not."

Solomon pushed his aunty that reeked of perfume.

"How dare you push me away, Clara the Diva?"

"You make me uncomfortable."

"Well, has Cassy made you afraid of women? Is that why…"

"Maybe."

"That Cassy… I always sensed something off about her," his grandmother said, taking a seat beside him.

Solomon finally talked after being silent for a long time.

"Don't talk about Cassy, grandmother. Don't call her name in front of me."

He closed his eyes, not wanting to talk about any other matter again. His grandmother glanced at him and sensed that her talking about Cassy had reminded him of something and had gotten him in a very bad mood.

Solomon didn't know what his grandmother was thinking. He was just silent for a long time until the system rang in his mind.

"Host, you have not checked the manual that I gave to you. Many people would be happy to go through that manual. Why have you not gone through it?"

The system sounded very at peace talking to Solomon. Solomon closed his eyes and only said in a calm voice,

"I have already gone through the manual."

The system was very shocked hearing the words Solomon said. When did he check the manual? When did he go through the manual? The host was always going fishy like a fish in the sea—very secretive. The system, that is SSS rank, couldn't track him down. Because of that, it couldn't control the host. People are willing to submit anything for the power of money, themselves, and everything. But the host—he was controlling it, as if he was the one giving it money and not the other way around.

With the system bringing on the topic of the manual, Solomon's mind trailed back to what he read.

The world is controlled by bankers' Guild. These people are the high-level elite. They are in between the A class and the SSS class. They rule the fate of all the lower class — the E class, the F class. These people are like the leaders, the presidents. They control the dirty economy. The money of the world — they use it to control people's life and fate, and most of these people, it's not a clean business.

His eyes focused on one more detail that showed credit, and this was a very shady side. Every day, the people of the low class — they are found dead from strange accidents and every other event. The strange flag was that most of these people were about to gain a huge fortune before misfortune happened to them. For instance, there was a victim, a girl, who was about to win a 10,000 lottery, but then she suddenly died all of a sudden…

What he found out ended there, and he gained no more information. And then there are the defaults. Before him, there were other system users and other ex-rich. They are no longer rich, and some have gone crazy.

And some of them are more dirty than the banker Guild. They mostly help them carry out the dirty activities. And here, there was the free agent — just like himself.

He found out that most of the people from the upper class had systems, but their system was different. It was a shady system. He was a different type of person. He was by luck that he got a system, and he doesn't know why he got the system. Although the system says that he is lucky, he doesn't believe that that is the only deal concerning this.

so he has read through the system rules and everything. The system was giving random missions to help him gain income, and once he spent those incomes, he'd get cashback. It was just like a chicken in a pie for him, something that would help him have a good life.

But he doesn't believe that things are so easy. At the same time, if it's money, he is going to get it with the system's help, but one thing that life has taught him — you can never gain anything for free no matter how easy it appears, even if it's a cheat or your breakaway.

The system alarm rang in his mind.

"Host, you have not spent any money for a very long period of time. Alert! Alert! All your income will disappear if you don't spend money and gain instant cashback. The system is here to make you rich!"

The system was always here to threaten him, always giving him high stakes that could make him break down.

It was like a devil that offers you something big and also takes something huge away from you. Solomon sighed, thinking of how to spend his money. In the middle of his thought, his eyes glanced at his auntie Clara, who was now busy gossiping with his grandma about her other lover. His sister had gone out to take care of the newborn baby.

"Auntie Clara, can you follow me outside for a moment?" Solomon turned to Clara and said, giving her a signal not to let his grandmother know.

Clara raised an eyebrow, looking at him as if to ask Solomon, What was the matter?

Solomon walked out of the room, and Clara stepped outside also.

"Auntie, I feel that your clothes are very old. Look at this dress — it has a hole in the butt. You need a new outfit. And the perfume you are using, it's so stinky. You need something good. A beauty like you needs very expensive products on you." Solomon immediately threw Clara with flattery, looking at her, making sure to show her all the flaws that he was looking at on her body.

Shade of pink—Clara's face turned a shade of pink with embarrassment. She couldn't help but immediately drag Solomon's ear, scolding him, "I am your auntie! How dare you talk to me like that, you little brat! And honestly, is it true? Does my dress have a hole on the butt?"

Solomon smirked as his auntie was listening to all the nonsense he was saying. "Yes, Auntie, your dress does have a hole showing your butt."

"Nephew, you are saying that I need new clothes and new perfume. Can you afford that?" She looked at Solomon with a single eye. Although her nephew had gotten some money these days, she thought it was just a little cash—it wasn't that much money.

Solomon chuckled and said to her, "Let's get there, Auntie, before you will see everything."

The system watched from the sideline at how Solomon deceived his auntie so he could use her to complete his mission.

"Damn, host! You are very smart," the assistant exclaimed. It had never gotten a mighty host like this host throughout its system years. Yes, it was a top-level system, but yet the host was making it feel like trash at times—it did not even like it.

Solomon took gradual steps into the mall

with his Auntie Clara walking beside him, still in awe, not fully believing that Solomon could afford what he said he would. Maybe he was just fooling around, and after the sellers chased them out, he would come back to his senses.

"Solomon, what are you doing here?" Cassy's voice came from behind them.

Solomon turned to see Cassy standing, wearing a tight pink dress that showed her curves, but that didn't matter to Solomon because he wasn't with her because of her body. He had fallen in love with her just because he liked her, and he truly wanted to be with her. But she had to go ahead and cheat on him. Solomon's expression was neutrally calm—not cold, not showing any reaction—and Clara immediately recognized Cassy. She studied her from head to toe

The salesgirl collected the card and swiped it on her machine to see if Solomon was just a fluke. When the machine made a ping and her approval sign appeared, her eyes widened as she turned to Solomon.

"You really are rich," she said in shock. Clara stared in disbelief. Solomon wasn't lying all along; he really did have money.

"Park all the dresses from the front row to the last row here," Solomon said to the still person. He had asked them to take all the dresses that Clara had been looking at since the time she had come.

The salesgirl didn't hesitate in giving the others to her colleagues because she was very sure that the amount on that card could buy all of the dresses.

The action was carried out in no time. Clara stood there, her mind spinning, on cloud nine. Was this for real? She was not looking at Solomon the same way she would look at any of her lovers.

"Nephew, now I really want to be your girlfriend. Will you take your auntie as your girlfriend?" she said, throwing her body onto Solomon, clinging to him.

Solomon held her hand, making her stop clinging to him. "Thank God you still are aware that you are my auntie. I don't do any taboo stuff," was the nonchalant response Solomon gave to her.

Clara acted like she wasn't listening to Solomon but instead smiled wider. "You know that I'm the last-born of my family. I'm not too old for you, dear, and it's a secret. No one in the family will know. You can date me, dear Solomon."

"Sorry, Aunt Clara, my heart is still broken from Cassy. I cannot get into any relationship now, even if it's a hidden one," Solomon cleared his throat. "Aunt Clara, I know you're much more of a player than Cassy. It's a problem for me. I can't be with you."

Solomon dismissed Clara in every way.

All the rejection that Solomon was giving her was just entering Clara's ears right here and coming out of the other. She couldn't help but look at her nephew and notice him more. He was extra handsome, extra tall, and extra rich. Could she have her nephew for herself since he had already broken up with his cheating ex?
