Chapter 173 - Trying Trial Part 1

With great rush I stepped into the magic hall's library.

I immediately went to search for the depository manager.

"Sharine, I want you to bring all the maps we have which covers the Great Katcha Lake."

The old plump woman promptly bowed.

"Right away, my lady."

My three pupils who were working on the grimoire simulations in the library looked to me in confusion.

"What's the matter, Serafina?"

 Yuxia asked.

I turned to them and gestured to the depository manager who was pulling long scrolls of maps from a large shelf.

"Put away the simulations for now. Help Sharine with the maps. The raid team will be having a meeting here shortly."

The three wildlings frowned at each other upon the instruction.

Yuxia suddenly raised an eyebrow.

"You just returned from the twelfth floor. It's about the third Quintal Trial, isn't it? You've discovered something about the fifteenth floor!"

Vallerynne and Matrias gasped at his assumption. They had learned just how precious information regarding an upcoming Quintal Trial really was.

I nodded to the 4-star elementalist.

"Now that you know, quickly help Sharine compiling the maps."

The three pupils immediately hurried to aid the old plump woman carrying the scrolls she had pulled out from the shelf.

I then enchanted several of the library's long tables using telekinesis and joined them together, forming a wide platform.

"Lay the maps there."

I pointed to the connected tables.

Sharine and the three wildlings promptly laid the scrolls on the platform and rolled each one open.

As they were rolling out the scrolls, I used telekinesis to arrange rows of chairs along one side of the platform. Enough for all participants of the upcoming meeting.

All of the maps were finally unrolled, allowing me to see just how complete our map collection really was.

The Great Katcha Lake was the largest body of freshwater in the continent.

The lake was located on the southern march of Tsatu and surrounded by twelve regions. There were at least sixteen cities placed on the shores of Katcha.

Because of those geographical facts, there were over 39 maps laid on the wide platform in front of me.

Miss Caramille delivered as always. I expected no less from the woman.

Sharine also did really well to document the maps and memorize their filings. I did not have to wait long for her to retrieve the scrolls that I wanted.

With all the maps laid before me, I began searching for the ones I needed.

Using telekinesis, I first organized the maps according to their regions around the lake.

The northern shore, eastern, southern, and western.

Yuxia and the other mages watched me arranging the maps curiously.

Soon, members of the raid team started to arrive. Starting from Party 1.

Upon their arrival, I gestured to the rows of chairs I had arranged earlier.

"All of you, take a seat. We'll begin momentarily."

They nodded to me and started sitting on the rows of chairs by the side of the platform.

I kept on scanning the scrolls of maps.

Now I began to eliminate the ones I did not need. Piling them on one part of the platform.

The rest of the raid team members arrived. My comrades had relayed my message to assemble.

Trudy as well as the chief gatherer and the chief crafter had arrived as well. I also requested their presence for this meeting.

They watched me shifting the dozens of maps, piling most of them to a corner until finally only six maps were left on the platform.

"Earlier today, Party 1 cleared the twelfth floor."

I began the meeting, turning to the raid team, the supporter chiefs and the combat instructor.

I continued.

"It was a subjugation mission. Our objective was to kill thirteen soldiers standing against us."

Sharp gasps and soft murmurs erupted among the meeting participants.

"So Shanny was telling the truth. We now have to fight fellow humans in the trials."

Zecht stated with a troubled gaze. Honey-haired Harl next to him was pale as snow.

I nodded to the Party 2 leader.

"Don't bother trying to negotiate with them. We tried to talk with one soldier after the rest were killed, but the man eventually committed a suicide assault. It seemed their only purpose is to kill us, nothing else."

The murmurs grew louder.

I was certain some did not believe me straight away back then.

They simply had to experience the trial firsthand to know there was no compromise against the enemies.

I went on.

"But we fortunately managed to pry one useful term from the soldier: Jherendal."

Norn formed a frown.

"Jherendal. I don't know any city with that name."

Vallerynne shook her head.

"It's not a city. It is the name of a county in the southeastern part of the empire."

She, being a noble, certainly would know about the name.

I nodded to her.

"The Jherendal Household is one of the ruling houses in the Khandera region. The Jherendal rules solely in the grand port city of Tsuchi along the eastern shore of the Great Katcha Lake."

I enchanted the six maps I singled out on the platform and made them hover in front of the meeting participants.

Five of the maps showed the terrains around Tsuchi. Each was as wide as the magic hall's research table.

The sixth map was as long as Jonah's height both in width and length. It was the map of Tsuchi itself.

"That is one big city."

Arian commented, eyeing the large map.

Darius nodded.

"It's bigger than Loro and even Seraphold. Possibly combined!"

Jonah turned to me.

"Fina, are you certain the third Quintal Trial will take place in Tsuchi?"

The shepherd's question turned the whole library silent.
