Chapter 10: The Battle for Power
The stock price of Global Tech had soared like a rising star, drawing the attention of investors across Wall Street. Analysts were calling it the next big tech giant. But Jack knew better. Beneath the glittering surface was a carefully crafted lie—an illusion that was about to shatter.
He took a deep breath and spoke into the phone. "Kevin, notify everyone—we're selling all our long options on Global Tech, and buying heavy puts. Move fast, stay under the radar."
Kevin's voice came back tense. "Jack, are we really doing this? Right now, Global Tech is flying high. Shorting it is risky!"
"I know the risk," Jack replied firmly. "But we have no choice. The bubble will burst eventually—and if we don't act now, Richard will keep getting away with it. Trust me, Kevin. This time, we win."
Under Jack's command, Kevin and their secret short-selling alliance sprang into action. They moved like silent hunters in the market's shadows—patient, calculating, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Meanwhile, Richard sat in his office, smugly watching Global Tech's stock climb higher. He believed the bubble would keep growing, that he could ride it to untold profits—and perhaps even seize full control of Wall Street itself.
"Ha! Jack, you pathetic loser—do you really think you can stop me?" Richard sneered at his screen. "You'll soon learn who the real winner is!"
But he had no idea—Jack's plan was already in motion.
Over the next few days, Jack closely monitored the stock's movements. He noticed a shift—more and more investors were cashing out, sensing danger.
"This is it!" A sharp glint flashed in Jack's eyes as he called Kevin again. "Now's the time. Start dumping shares heavily. And leak some negative news—slowly, subtly. We don't want the whole market to crash at once."
Kevin acted immediately. Using his connections in the financial world, he discreetly spread rumors about Global Tech's technological fraud. The information spread like wildfire, sowing panic among investors.
The stock began to fall—but only slightly. Richard dismissed it as normal fluctuation and didn't take it seriously.
Jack remained vigilant. He knew the bubble wouldn't collapse completely without one final push.
He thought of Alicia.
"Isabella, I need you to contact Alicia," Jack said. "I have to meet her."
Isabella hesitated. "Are you sure? She must be going through a lot right now."
"I know," Jack replied. "But this might be our last chance. Only if Alicia comes forward and testifies against her father can we truly bring Richard down."
With a sigh, Isabella nodded. "Alright. I'll call her."
Soon, Alicia arrived at their location. Her face was pale, her eyes filled with exhaustion and grief.
"Alicia," Jack said gently, "I know how hard this is for you. But I need your help."
She looked up at him. "What do you want me to do?"
"I need you to come forward," Jack said. "Testify about your father's crimes—about how he helped Richard commit them. I know it's painful, but only this way can we finally defeat Richard and protect the innocent."
Alicia fell silent. Her heart was torn between love and duty. She loved her father deeply—but she couldn't ignore what he had done.
"I… I need time to decide," she whispered.
Jack nodded. "Take your time. But please, make your choice quickly. We're running out of it."
After Alicia left, Jack felt heavier than ever. He knew her decision would determine everything.
Back at his office, Richard began to sense something wrong. The stock was falling faster than expected, and whispers of scandal were spreading like poison.
"What the hell is going on?" Richard barked. "Find out who's behind this—now!"
His men launched an investigation and quickly traced the source to Jack and Kevin.
"It's Jack, sir!" one of his men reported. "He's shorting Global Tech and spreading false rumors about us!"
"Jack!" Richard exploded in rage. "That useless bastard! I'll make him pay!"
Richard immediately ordered his team into action. He flooded the media with positive statements about Global Tech, trying to stabilize the stock. At the same time, he dispatched people to track Jack's whereabouts—preparing for revenge.
Unseen by the public, a silent war for power had begun on Wall Street. Two former partners—Jack and Richard—were now locked in a battle of wits and willpower, each determined to destroy the other.
Then, unexpectedly, Jack's phone rang.
"Jack, I've made my decision," Alicia said, her voice trembling. "I'm going to testify. I'm going to expose my father."
A wave of relief washed over Jack. He knew—he had just won half the war.
"Alicia," he said softly into the receiver, "thank you. You've made the right choice."
With Alicia's support, Jack finalized his plan. He immediately contacted the media and released her testimony to the public.
The impact was immediate and devastating.
Panic erupted on Wall Street. Investors rushed to sell their Global Tech shares, triggering a catastrophic freefall in the stock price.
Inside Richard's office, chaos reigned. He stared at the plummeting numbers on his screen, his face drained of color—like a dying man watching his life vanish before his eyes.
"No… this can't be happening…" he muttered, dazed. "How could I lose to Jack… that worthless fool…"
The Global Tech bubble had burst entirely. Richard lost billions overnight. Worse still, regulatory agencies launched investigations, and legal consequences loomed on the horizon.
His empire was crumbling.
And from the shadows, Jack watched coldly.
He knew this was only the beginning.
Next, he would uncover the truth—the real mastermind behind Richard.
The true battle for power had only just begun.
