Kurt Vince is a normal high schooler in India, 16 years old, standing at 5 ft 7 inches. His skin bronze-tanned, typical of many Indians, with an average build.
A sparse beard clung to his chin, clearly not groomed properly, with patches where facial hair had yet to grow. A few dark spots marked his cheeks—likely due to puberty, though people often assumed otherwise and his hair was curly and messy.
Basically, he is by looks, what many would label ugly.
Kurt is from a middle-class family that had known poverty during their early years. His mother and father works hard to keep the family just above the poverty line and have somehow managed to enroll him in a government school.

Kurt looked at his watch. It was time for him to go home. He got up from his chair, arranged his books and was on his way out of the library. Then suddenly.
"This is a first. Seeing you leave so early.", a women spoke with a smile on her face.
Kurt looked towards where the voice came from.
His eyes met those of a middle aged women who was sitting in her chair with papers scattered all around her desk.
She was Liza , the school librarian.
Liza had worn her usual school uniform meant for teachers, her hair tied in a ponytail and a pink googles lingered in her face. She emitted a mature charm which often invoked gazes from people.
"I plan to go home tonight." Kurt replied in a monotonous manner.
He did not stay at his home and stayed in the school's hostel. But today he had to go home.
Liza was an upright women. She had her pride in her beauty and liked guys with ambition. Someone like Kurt was her type. But she herself was quite timid.
"Sigh, if only only he was a bit older.. But once he grows.. Yes that would be nice", Lisa murmured to herself.
Kurt was about to leave which made Liza come out of her thoughts. She hurriedly said, " Oh.. Good night Kurt, and Happy new year."
"Good night mam, Happy new year to you too." Kurt replied with a smile.
Liza was left alone in the library. It was the night of new year and no other student were there.
"You could just call me by my name.." Liza murmured to herself again.
Kurt left the school library and looked at the time. 5 minutes had passed.

Tomorrow was The New Year, a day worth celebrating with his family and it was the only day of the year where he slacked off.
Kurt left the school and made his way towards the railway station which was a half an hour walk. He was looking forward to the delicacies his mom would make tonight.
"Will it be Mutton curry or Will it be Butter chicken, Ahhh i cant wait."
" Maybe is should bring some drinks on the way. Yes that would be perfect."
" Hmm.. Maybe some snacks as well."
" But maybe dad had probably already brought them..."
Kurt was talking to himself in his thoughts. He did not realize how he had already reached the station.
He checked his watch.

"Damn, i have reached the station and all i was thinking the whole time was about food."
He sighed at himself and got on the train 15 minutes prior in time. The train would run at 17:00. He found a comfortable place around the left corner where no one was sitting and waited for the train to depart.
It would take three hours for the train to reach his village, so he decided to listen to a podcast of Joe Rogan which he had planned to listen when he had free time.
The train departed at time.

One hour had passed and everything was going fine.
When suddenly..
A voice echoed in his mind, like the wind passing towards the solitary horizon.

Kurt shook where he sat. His mind wavering in confusion.
"What the fuck? Is this a dream? Was this the renowned almighty System from the novels. Have my dream finally come true to be a protagonist of a novel?" He looked around as if to find answers.
The voice however was not finished.
