Chapter 5 - Heartache

Bella

The vision suddenly vanished, leaving me breathless and panicked. "Edward!" I cried out, my heart pounding in my chest as I sat up abruptly, clutching my blanket tightly. My eyes darted around the unfamiliar room, my anxiety growing. This wasn't my assigned room, adding to my confusion and fear. Edward would be furious. The mere thought of him sent shivers down my spine, my heart racing with dread.

I collapsed back onto the bed, my chest constricting with a sharp pain. Oh, God. Edward. I had been dreaming of him before he transformed into the Beast and Dark Edward. What was happening to me? I shouldn't feel sympathy for the monster who had imprisoned me, but I couldn't help it.

My heart ached for him. Ara and Edward had been deeply in love. Love... a concept I had never experienced, but could imagine the agony of losing. Did their deaths drive him to become The Beast? Why couldn't his father accept his son's happiness? Who cared if she wasn't of royal blood? Why did it matter?

A sudden noise outside the room startled me, causing me to jump out of bed and flee. I had to return to my room before Edward discovered I had defied his orders. I was only permitted to leave my room to serve him, and I couldn't risk his wrath.

As I sprinted out of the room, panic gripped me like a vice. My heart pounded in my chest, threatening to burst through my ribcage. The realization hit me like a ton of bricks - I was in the room next to Edward's. The man who had shown me no mercy the night before, the man who had sunk his teeth into my neck without a second thought. The fear of impending doom washed over me, leaving me gasping for air.

I stumbled into the kitchen, desperate to find some semblance of safety. If I could just act normal, maybe he would spare me. I couldn't even begin to explain how I had ended up in his chambers; all I could remember was the searing pain of his bite on my neck. My hand instinctively flew to the spot, but there was no wound, no blood.

As I pleaded with the chef to give me Edward's breakfast, a sinking feeling settled in the pit of my stomach. This day couldn't possibly get any worse, could it? I raced to the dining hall, hoping against hope that I could beg for mercy. But as I entered, my worst fears were realized - Edward sat at the table, shoveling food into his mouth with a look of pure malice in his eyes. My heart stopped as his gaze locked onto mine, and I knew in that moment that my fate was sealed.

I clasped my hands together tightly, my heart racing as I hurried towards him, throwing myself to the floor in front of King Edward. "Your Majesty, I beg for your forgiveness. I promise I will never be late again. Please, spare me. I--"

"Enough, Bella," he interrupted, his voice firm yet gentle as he reached down to lift me to my feet. His piercing gaze searched my face before he pulled me onto his lap, his arm wrapped protectively around my waist. With a tender touch, he brushed my hair away from my neck, tilting my head to expose the vulnerable skin. And then, without warning, he sank his teeth into me.

A soft moan escaped my lips as I surrendered to the overwhelming sensations coursing through me. I couldn't believe what was happening, yet I knew it was all too real. Waves of pleasure washed over me as he continued to drink, causing me to relax completely in his embrace. As I started to drift into a haze, my mind raced with questions. What was happening? Why now? It was clear that something had shifted, but I was powerless to understand the depths of the changes taking place.
