Chapter 16 - Chapter 14 - Young One's

Gahu paced through the white and sterile hallways. At his side was a older man with greying hair and beard, his body already shriveled up from age. Dressed in a the DHC uniform, with specialized red pauldrons.

Gahu glanced at the old man as they kept moving, his eyes stern.

"So how are the new recruits performing Overseer? The previous group I mean, I heard they're preceding the expactations of their trainers and may be ready to complete the trial sooner than most-but I would like to hear from you."

The overseer gave a slight smile and put his arms behind his back, looking directly forward.

"You have heard correctly Commander Choshi, the new recruits have been outstanding and the new batch looks promising also, they're all young folk willing to join the cause and fight, and the younger one's appear to be stronger, taller, faster and have better reaction time than our generations...kids really are the future"

Gahu nods, the expression on his face unchanging as he look back to the hallway.

"The kids were always the future of humanity, we can only get better with each generation...long as we tend to the new generations properly. And I am glad to hear that, the demonic activities have been getting more frequent, and I assume you've heard the news about the expeditions that were sent out against Subject TI"

The Overseer nods slightly and gives a light sigh.

"I have heard of those yes, they've been all over the news and the young one's have been talking about it alot too...it is truly a tragedy, I know how fond Gokkumon was of that demon. And now its out and he's forced to send out hunting parties after her...knowing that they'll all fail."

Gahu looks back to the Overseer again, a bit of surprise in his eyes.

"You know of Gokkumon's dealings with her? He has told you?"

The Overseer chuckles slightly.

"He hasn't exactly told me, but I was there when he brought her in...and you could tell from his eyes about how much he cared about keeping the Demon child safe, and I can sort of understand why."

Gahu smiles slightly and lets out a sigh of relief.

"It makes me glad that we're not the only one's who understand Gokkumon's views, besides he is right. Were the treatment of the Subject more proper, and we were not sending our men into meat grinders...the situation would be much more better than it currently is."

The two came at a stop infront of a wooden double door, from inside loud chatter of a crowd could be heard.

Gahu looked down to the Overseer again and nodded.

"Well, we'll talk about this some other day Overseer..maybe we can arrange for a cup of coffee or something one day"

The Overseer gave a gentle smile as he looked up to Gahu and gave a quick nod.

"Perhaps one day we shall Commander, now we have more important matters to deal with"

Soon the two would walk through the doors, revealing a grand theatre like room, the room was filled with people of all ages, with mostly younger teenagers. As the two walked into the room the eyes turned to them, everyone staring at the two in awe.

The two walked in a split between the seats to the stage where a microphone stood. Both could hear the audible talking among the one's sitting. Some speaking about how scary Gahu looked, some noting the high position and power of these two, but most commenting about how legendary Gahu is.

Eventually the two came up to the stage, Gahu took the microphone and looked to the room, a cold and stern look on his face as he scanned the room, he cleared his throat away from the microphone and spoke.

"Recruits of the Demon Hunting Company, young and old alike. I welcome you all here on your first day among our ranks. While none of you will yet go out on missions, all of you will go into proper training in this same facility. Each of you will be assigned into a team of six, with one from each team being a dedicated trainer who has been field tested and will serve as a guide and teacher to you."

He'd gesture to the Overseer.

"This here is Kouze Yoshiaki, the Overseer of this training facility. He will make sure that all trainers perform well. When it comes to the training itself, expect three years of difficult training, to ensure that all of you are ready to make the cut as Demon Hunters, you will spend all time with your team to ensure you're able to cooperate and work well with commanders and allies alike, special details about the training itself will be given to you by the trainers, at the end of the three year training you and your team will go through a trial, this trial is dangerous and could cause your death, we of course have ensured that this does not happen but we cannot promise that, for you will face off against a Demon of a Lower Class, your team will either eliminate this demon or not and you will not be able to join the ranks. You may leave the training whenever you need to, but you shall never return. In any case, I welcome you all to the Demon Hunting Company again, and I wish you all the best of luck in your training, and I thank you greatly for wishing to join our ranks, humanity thanks you for your bravery, courage and boldness."

Gahu gave the entire room a deep bow, kept it for a short while and raised his head again.

"But now I shall let your Overseer speak and welcome you to the Facility, thank you new recruits."

Gahu gestured the Overseer and invited him to the microphone, stepping away and walked down the stage and out of the room as the Overseer began to give a speech to the new recruits.

Outside as Gahu closed the door behind himself the sounds silencing as he did. He rubbed his face in his hands and gave a deep sigh.

As he stood there, a woman with long pink hair would approach him, a big grin on her face. She was dressed in a large black cloak and long black skirt and had a red long cape and what seemed to be a Large Metal collar with Green lights across it, her eyes glowing bright red.

"Giving speeches now Commander? I never took you much for a person to give speeches, I am sure the new recruits are grateful that such a high ranking DHC member came to speak to them personally"

Gahu looked to the woman, and glared at her the look on his face changing to a bit more of a serious look.

"It is my duty as Number Two to inspire the lesser ranks, better question is...what is the High Raven doing here? I didn't know the commitee allowed you to go out of your designated facility"

The High Raven leaned against a wall and smirked a little.

"Well I guess they changed their mind, didn't they? Considering this thing hasn't gone off I am not doing anything wrong!"

She said and pointed to the metal collar around her neck.

"But to answer your question-its simple, the committee has requested the recruiting of more Ravens into our ranks, seems like they're finally bending their will and see the great potential in us!"

Gahu shook his head and looked away from the High Raven.

"I wouldn't place my bets on that, the committee is still very wary of you and I don't think they'll allow anything more than what was..besides most of the Old Guard still don't agree on us working with the Project Raven Group, and neither do I...we'd only get in your way"

The High Raven chuckled a little and shrugged.

"Well I guess there is some truth in that, but I can imagine that you Hunters would make a great cannon fodder for us while we deal with the bigger threats."

Gahu shook his head again and started walking, trying to ignore the High Raven.

"If you'd be able to deal with them, none of you are still field tested and we can't rely solely on your strength, some of you are younger than us hunters and lack the expirience"

The High Raven quickly pursued Gahu as she pushed herself off of the wall. With a big smile she looked at the back of Gahu.

"I don't mean to be rude or disrespectful...but how much help was the expirience to you when you needed to deal with the White Haired Child that already managed to kill a good chunk of your best men?"

Gahu sighed heavily and continued walking.

"That is an entirely different thing, even you must admit that she emits powers higher than any common demon."

The High Raven caught up with Gahu and walked by his side, looking up with her arms crossed, taking playful and large steps.

"I do agree that she is quite the scary exception. But she is not the only one you'll be facing, you know it....I know it, everyone knows that humans can barely match the weaker of the demons, let alone the higher class demons and that is where the Raven Group comes in! To deal with things that you humans cannot, but I won't bother you no longer with this, I have business to attend to anyways and I'm already running late so...see you later Commander Gahu!"

She'd turn on her heel and gave a wave to Gahu.

Gahu would give a bit of a wave also.

"Good luck with your business Uraziel...and don't give the recruiters a headache..."

She'd laugh out loud while still walking and called out one last time.

"No promises on that! I gotta give you humans a bit of a run for the money!"

Gahu would let out a gentle smile as he continued walking, making his way to the entrance. And as soon as he stepped out he pulled out a cigarette out of his coat, put it into his mouth and lit it.

"The Ravens will be a piece of work one day..."

He muttered to himself and set out again, walking towards his car.
