Chapter 9: The Final Trial
BOOM!
The massive rock golem swung its stone fist and slammed Aaron straight in the chest.
"Ahh!" Aaron cried out, flying backward and crashing into the dungeon wall, dust and stone crumbling around him.
"Aaron!" Finley yelled, eyes wide with worry. But he didn't panic—he kicked into action.
Using his 123 IQ, Finley quickly crafted a bomb from the gear and scraps they'd collected during earlier trials. He ran up behind the golem and placed it on its back.
"Aaron! I need you to hit the lever!" Finley called out.
Clutching his chest in pain, Aaron gritted his teeth and ran forward. He jumped toward the control lever near the ancient wall—but missed, landing hard on the ground.
He looked up, breathing hard. "Dang it…"
Then his eyes flicked to his backpack.
"Gotcha," Aaron said, pulling out a mini energy ball.
He aimed carefully—and threw.
BOOM!
The ball hit the lever, triggering the bomb. The golem glowed bright for a moment—then exploded into glowing shards of stone and light.
The dungeon rumbled… then went still.
They'd done it.
Aaron stood slowly, still holding his chest. "Let's never do that again."
Finley chuckled. "We're gonna have to."
To be continued…
