Time seemed to slow. The hall paused, and everyone froze. The dagger swayed in the air. Kallin stumbled backward. Nathan reached for him, while Damon's breath hitched.
He opened his mouth, but words seemed to be stuck in his throat. Abruptly, as it reached Kallin, the air stopped. Everyone blinked, and time paused.
A cold breeze brushed through the air, and then everything but the dagger moved. Who would have thought it all happened just as the seed of the White Fortress stepped into the Twin Kingdom? The breeze that came with him was enough to save his blood.
Staring at the dagger suspended in the air, a bitter laugh escaped Queen Elena's throat.
"So this is it?" she laughed even harder. "I've always tried. I did all I could, but I could never measure up to you, and in this last minute, you still saved your sister."
Murmurs erupted, and guards seemed to have regained themselves as they rushed toward Prince Kallin, but Nathan had already pushed him out of the way.
