While we were having lunch in the student council, brother started his interview.
"First of all, Katsuragi-kun and Suzune. Congratulations. Class A has retained the most points after the first month in this school's history."
"Thank you."
Katsuragi nodded.
I shrugged.
"So, what do you all think of this school now? Starting from Ichinose."
"Hmm, it's certainly a surprise that this school functions this way. Well, as long as the competition between classes is healthy, it's all good."
Katsuragi nodded and said, "I heard that the school provides a lot of freedom to students. And that it is trying to emulate real world."
I said, "Well, it IS somewhat of a real representation of Japanese society. But it isn't really looking for fixing the rot in it which has slowed down our economy for decades and makes our country with one of the most depressed population.
Our companies are really inefficient. People can't easily change companies like in other countries. So companies continue being bad. After Toyota, and SONY for cameras, we don't have a single company that is the best in the world anymore.
And the politicians continue wasting tax money on this crap so that their and their rich friends' children can form good connections to actually hard working people in artificially created difficult times.
I don't think this school will last long once a new party that isn't in cahoots with the ruling and main opposition party emerges, and exposes this wastage of tax money.
It's a symbol of Japan's stagnation and its stubborn refusal to be more dynamic.
So, I am going to change this school to my best of ability. So that it starts justifying the amount of money wasted on it.
It has nice infrastructure and vibes, so I wouldn't want it shutting down and be surrounded by controversy and protests."
Nagumo grinned, "President, isn't your sister more like me than you!? I also think that instead of the way it is, the school should be based on meritocracy."
Brother looked at me, and I just started eating my lunch again as I looked at him.
Honestly, he doesn't live a life and just does as what is expected from him. Him being able to perform on expectations of others is another matter. Once he fails at something that he is good at, he will start crumbling.
School and adult life are completely different.
"Interesting."
Stop trying to act mysterious dude. As if you don't know me and what I am aiming to do.
You are embarrassing me.
"Alright. If you guys were to join the Student Council, what position you want to be in right now, and later?"
Ichinose answered, "Any position will be good right now. Maybe by the end of second year, Student Council President? I was Student Council President in middle school, so I think I will be able to handle it."
Katsuragi answered, "Secretary right now. And later, Student Council President by the end of second year."
I answered, "Vice President right now, and President by the end of this year."
Nagumo's smile faltered, "Woah woah Suzune-"
"Horikita."
"Ahem! Horikita, it's good that you want to be Vice-President, but I am currently holding that position. And shouldn't you think about trying for the President position by the end of second year, just like Ichinose and Katsuragi?"
"Is there a rule that there can only be one Vice-President?"
Brother said, "There is only a rule for President, and the Vice-President has the power to bring one student into the Student Council even if rejected by the President. There are no other rules for members and positions besides these two.
But, there have only been a single Vice-President in every iteration of Student Council. Why should an exception be made for you?"
"Alright. I will give you the reason soon enough. But since Vice-President Nagumo is clearly a direct competitor against it, and is a one year senior, I will like to have a guarantee that he wouldn't interfere with the affairs of first years."
Nagumo interrupted, "No no no. Since you want a position like mine, shouldn't you compete with me? I thought that we both supported meritocracy."
"If Japan allowed foreign companies of USA right after WW2 to compete with Japanese companies, Japan would have never reached the height it reached. Competition and Protectionism go hand in hand and are necessary for a country's growth, and a fair competition."
Brother considered both of our words, and came to the conclusion.
"Alright. Nagumo, and by extension entirety of Second Years and Third years will not interfere with First Years this semester. Nagumo, don't get in her way this semester."
I shrugged, "Wouldn't Vice-President like it better if another Vice-President is competing against him on more equal terms, instead of an ordinary first year girl who has been in this school for just a month?"
Nagumo nodded.
"Fine. But if you fail to give the Student Council a reason to make you a Vice-President by the end of Summer Break, after the first semester, you will have to become my Secretary."
"That's fine by me."
Honestly, I should have gotten this in written, but it will be better without it. So that Nagumo will push Ichinose towards me.
The lunch break was about to be over in 10 minutes.
Brother then said, "Alright. I have already considered everyone's application over the month. You all are very capable students. But after the interview, I have come to the decision.
None of you are fit for the Student Council, yet. So I am rejecting your applications.
You are free to apply again as many times as you want. And I will re-evaluate it seriously everytime. My decision may change on re-evaluation.
Thank you for your time."
I nodded and stormed off the Student Council, pretending to be angry that my brother rejected my application.
But it's just a way for Nagumo to give space to approach Ichinose and pull her towards me.
Honestly, brother is fair in rejecting my application. Since I showed clearly that my stance is against the school's existence itself.
I messaged Kushida to meet me after school. I am going to use her before expelling her. Though I wonder if Ayanokoji will be able to stop her from getting expelled.
Meet my here if you don't want me to expose what you did in Middle School.
Alright. Class B and D are done. Class A will support me. And I have just the perfect thing to have Class C support me.
If all four classes of first year support me, brother will have no choice but to make me second Vice-President.
