Chapter 189-190 – The Queen's Trap

[MC POV]

"Huh… Huh…"

I flopped down on the bed and took a deep breath.

After having sex in the garden, we returned to the princess's room and continued to fuck until we were exhausted. The princess was also stretching her exhausted limbs and catching her breath.

"…Dayke."

She addressed me as the princess of the kingdom, and I replied in my usual polite tone.

"Yes, princess."

"Do you still… still want to get revenge on Momma?"

"…Yes."

It might not have been the answer she expected, but I couldn't lie any longer. In response to my honest answer, her voice grew even softer.

"How are you going to get revenge? Are you going to hurt Momma?"

I had no intention of resorting to violence. The queen feared sexual corruption more than physical pain. Besides, I felt my heart would weaken if I ever saw her blood.

"No."

"So… Are you planning to do things similar to what you did to me and Kiella?"

"…"

I couldn't bring myself to say 'yes' out loud. Saying it would be the same as admitting I planned to fuck her mother. But my intentions seemed clear to the princess.

"I see… For now, everything you said today is sincere. If you want to, you can bully me anytime."

She fell silent, lost in thought, but then spoke again moments later.

"I think I need to think about it more… about Momma."

With a heavy expression, the princess looked out her window and suddenly stood up.

"Oh my, the sun is about to rise! How did it get this late?"

I wanted to persuade her to stay, but unfortunately, I had to leave before morning.

After tidying up her room, I exchanged greetings with the princess and hurried back to my own.

[MC POV]

Before leaving the bedroom to head to the Supreme Court Justice's office, I turned on my phone.

I wanted to check if there had been any change in the princess's status after last night's encounter.

'She's still at the giving-up stage.'

From the moment the princess first appeared in the corruption status after our initial encounter, she had been in a phase of giving up rather than resisting.

She hadn't moved on to submission yet, probably because she was torn between her mother, the queen, and me.

'I planned to persuade the princess tonight…'

Today, I intended to explore the area near the queen's office or bedroom.

While searching different places, I couldn't find a way to approach the queen, so I decided to take a bolder approach. But it didn't go smoothly from the start.

"Dayke…?"

After speaking with Kiella and leaving her office, I was secretly heading toward the queen's bedroom when I ran into a maid.

She glanced at the direction I was going and sounded troubled.

"Sorry, but this is the queen's private area… What are you doing here?"

"Oh, I got lost while walking and thinking about something else."

"If you're looking for an office, I can guide you."

I was worried that refusing might make me seem suspicious, so I nodded.

"Oh, yes. Thank you."

"I… have some urgent work to finish. Could you help me? Then I can show you around the office quickly."

For some reason, her timid tone and expression made it seem like something important was happening.

If the maid became suspicious, the queen might find out I was wandering the castle. So I decided to cooperate.

"Yes, I'll help. Just tell me what to do."

What she asked for wasn't as big a deal as I thought. I just had to go into a nearby room used as a storage area and clean up the mess.

There were many scattered items, including some heavy ones, so it would have been hard for her to do alone.

I finished organizing the room.

"If you go this way and turn right… Ah, I guess the aide will know from here. Sorry to bother you."

After giving me directions, the maid lowered her head, then urgently waved her hands.

"No need to apologize. Thanks to you, I'm back on track. Let's go in then."

"Hey, Dayke!"

"Yes?"

"…Sorry."

She bowed deeply and then hurried away as if running. Her sudden, contextless apology confused me, but I followed her guidance.

It would look strange to stray from her, so I entered the workroom.

She eventually returned to her original spot.

I wanted to resume searching quickly but decided to hold back. If I ran into that maid again in a similar place, I'd have no excuse.

I waited for about two hours, wondering when it would be best to leave.

Just as I was about to stand up, I thought it was safe to go.

Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump!

"Open this door!"

The sound of loud knocking and shouting filled the room.

It was unusual to hear such a loud knock on the Supreme Court Justice's door. Kiella and I exchanged surprised glances.

"If you don't come out, I'll open it myself!"

The person who entered with a harsh warning was completely unexpected.

"…Agnes?"

"Dayke. The queen is calling for you. Come with me."

Agnes was accompanied by her vice-leader, Rize, and other members.

Kiella sensed something was wrong and asked,

"What are you doing in my office?"

"I'm sorry, Chief Justice. The queen ordered me to bring this person here immediately."

Her cold, businesslike tone made it seem like she had forgotten our relationship.

"And she said to bring the Supreme Court Justice as well."

"Me?"

"Yeah. What are you doing, Dayke? Wake up!"

Without understanding what was happening, I obeyed and started walking down the hallway.

A group of fully armed knights surrounded me, their faces stern. Kiella followed at a distance.

"…Dayke."

Agnes closed the gap between us and whispered.

Her tone was back to normal.

"I had no choice. The maids passing by were watching. Please understand. I can't see clearly right now, so I need to figure out what's going on. Why is the queen looking for you?"

"Well, I don't know. Doesn't Agnes know?"

"We suddenly received orders to arrest you. We just followed them. Do you have any idea why?"

I tried to remember, but nothing came to mind. She nodded slowly.

"What on earth is the queen thinking? We must stay alert in case an armed conflict breaks out."

I arrived at the throne room with unresolved questions.

"There you are, beast. Kiella, come this way."

The queen looked down at me from her throne, with Kiella standing beside her on command.

The guards stood side by side, exuding an intimidating presence, and knights surrounded me. Even the servants and maids watched me with frightened expressions.

It felt like I had been labeled a traitor.

"Dayke. You know why you were brought here, right?"

"…No. I don't."

The queen looked at me like I was an insect and snorted with laughter.

"Ha! It's frightening how shameless you are. Lilda?"

At her call, the maid—the one the princess referred to as chief maid—brought someone in.

"Uh?"

For a moment, confusion spread across my face.

The elf the maid brought was the same one who had guided me a few hours earlier. Even stranger, her hair was tangled, and her clothes were torn in several places.

"Now, tell me. What did you do to her?"

When the queen asked, the maid—looking more worn out than before—answered with tears in her eyes.

"He dragged me to a warehouse and… fucked me."

The maids watching grew agitated.

Only then did my questions find their answers.

'The queen and that witch made it all up. They planned to frame me as a criminal and exile me.'

That maid must have been forced by the queen to lie. It was clear the apology she gave when we parted was connected to this situation.

"Huh, huh…"

"It's pitiful to see you cry so sadly… but I'll make him pay for his sins."

The room fell silent at the maid's cries.

I knew those tears weren't from the pain of what she claimed happened. They were tears of guilt for telling a lie.

Agnes, Rize, and Kiella must have realized this was all staged. Because no one knew better than them that I would never harm an innocent elf.

Now, the only ones fooled by the queen's scheme were the guards and maids. But why did the queen go through such trouble?

The reason was obvious: to convince her own daughter.

She hated being despised by her daughter as much as she hated me.

It was clear she was trying to give the princess a reason to side with her.

'Then what should I do now?'

It would have helped if an elf had seen me sincerely assisting her maid. But unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

Agnes, Rize, and Kiella couldn't openly support me in front of the queen.

I understood the queen's intentions quickly, but the problem was that I had no solution.

"It's not too late. If you admit your guilt, we'll just kick you out of the kingdom."

'Originally, I would have received a danger warning, but I turned off my phone…'

Even if I regretted it, nothing would change.

I had to buy time by insisting on my innocence.

"I didn't do anything. I just helped that elf clean the warehouse."

"It wasn't cleaning, it was fuck. If you're innocent, where's your evidence? Does any elf here know where that man was three hours ago?"

"…"

The throne room fell cold and silent, as if doused in ice water.

The queen had gathered knights and maids to show how serious this was, and her plan was working perfectly.

"I guess it's none other than that poor elf. So how will you prove your innocence, Dayke?"

"I'm innocent. That elf is lying."

The maid who met my gaze flinched and looked away.

The queen's tone remained confident.

"Are you just trying to threaten her? Don't you understand whose words carry more weight—an elf's or a human's?"

I racked my brain but found no solution.

In the end, should I join forces with the knights and use force to suppress them?

Even if I survived this crisis, powerful magicians would soon come after me.

"It seems you still won't admit it. Then, I'll give you a chance."

"…A chance?"

"Kiella."

"Yes, Queen."

"As Supreme Court Justice, interrogate the accuser yourself. In a fair, private place where no one can see."

"All right."

At Kiella's response, the queen's eyes shifted back to me.

"But if you don't confess, I'll have to believe you're truly innocent and dismiss this incident. How does that sound, Dayke?"

"…Thank you."

"There's no need to thank me. I'm afraid Iril will cry and cause a scene if I don't get a clear confession."

This time, I saw clearly through her words.

It was an obvious tactic to break me and force a false confession through Kiella.

Perhaps she had planned this from the start to sway the princess. But Kiella, whom I trusted, hadn't lost her will to defy me.

"So, make sure Kiella extracts a confession from the accuser. A shameless person who doesn't feel guilt deserves punishment."

"Yes. I will show the accuser that no one can escape the judgment of the law."

I exchanged a secret glance with Kiella—an unspoken signal only we understood.

The queen smiled confidently, unaware of our silent communication.

Looking at her like that, I made up my mind. I would repay her for all the karma I had accumulated so far, plus everything from today.
