Boom, boom, boom!
A fierce meteorite shower continuously hammered down, and in an instant, the mausoleum building on the surface of the Great Underground Tomb of Nazarick was completely destroyed. Not only that, the impact force of the meteorites even penetrated the soil, creating a gigantic hole that led directly to the first floor of Nazarick.
Although a path had been created, the Church of Destiny's army did not use it as a point of breakthrough for their attack, nor did they summon angels as a vanguard. The first row of magicians in the military formation slowly knelt, placing their hands on the ground.
The next second, at the commander's order, the magicians began to chant the magic [Great Earth Shatter]. Horrifying cracks tore through the earth, finally converging into a massive chasm that stretched for over a hundred meters. Seen from the air, the chasm looked like a scar left by a hot knife slicing through butter, completely splitting open the top of Nazarick's first floor!
As the lair was exposed, the Great Underground Tomb of Nazarick's automatic defense system was activated, and a large number of low-tier Undead appeared, rushing towards the Church of Destiny's military formation.
The expression of the military formation's commander became serious. He raised a magic banner that strengthened allies, using amplification magic to shout, "Magic Artillery!"
Buzz, buzz, buzz!
Instantly, the entire sky was filled with vast magic circles. Then, beams of magical energy the size of pillars of light rained down. The low-tier Undead from Nazarick were utterly annihilated before they could even get out of the 'basin'. The excessive energy explosions also continuously bombarded the first floor, creating explosion after explosion.
Kael, hovering above the military formation, silently watched the destruction of the Great Underground Tomb of Nazarick below. His mind wasn't focused on the destruction. He had led the Church of Destiny's army here not out of anger over the destruction of the cities and the massacre of civilians in the two countries. This was a ploy, a strategy to make Ainz and the others panic, forcing them to abandon their attacks on human cities and rush back to protect their base. A strategy similar to 'besieging Wei to save Zhao'.
In a situation where it was impossible to quickly reinforce the attacked cities, this method was the most effective course of action. This was because, for Ainz and his companions, not even a hundred human cities would be worth a single brick from the Great Underground Tomb of Nazarick.
But... why were they destroying human cities? Was it merely to vent their tyrannical urges, or did they have another intention?
Kael hadn't found the answer yet, but he felt the latter possibility was more likely. Although most of Nazarick's NPCs were cruel to humans and would certainly not miss an opportunity for violence, they weren't mindless beasts that had lost control.
Hmm... Whatever it is, let's draw those people back first.
Setting aside his mixed thoughts, Kael took out the [Ultimate Magic Tome] from his backpack and joined in the bombardment of Nazarick.
Ainz's Minion
In the northeast of the Re-Estize Kingdom, the city of Re-Borolor, a once bustling city was now a city of the dead. Corpses were scattered everywhere, and the sky was filled with the smell of blood. In the city's open square, the reinforced 'Death Spiral' ritual array absorbed negative energy from the entire city.
Shalltear, one of the Great Tomb's Guardians, was in charge of guarding this ritual. She was idly filing her nails with a small file, grumbling softly. "I wonder what Ainz-sama is doing. That damn Albedo, she really monopolized the very good job of guarding Ainz-sama!"
Shalltear could have perfectly protected Ainz-sama, but now she was assigned to this remote city, having to ensure this fragile human magician stayed alive. She was told to be on the lookout for people from the Church of Destiny, but now she was hoping someone would come to cause trouble. She needed an outlet.
Whoosh!
As if nature heard her wish, Shalltear suddenly sensed something. She looked up at the gloomy sky. Her eyes caught a white figure that had appeared from nowhere, diving towards the ritual magic circle at high speed.
"Ha, just in time!"
Shalltear immediately became excited. She activated [Instant Armament] to don her armor and weapon. She stomped her foot, creating a large hole in the ground, and shot into the sky.
As the two approached, the attacker's appearance became clear. It was a humanoid warrior wearing a full white-gold plate armor, with four weapons—a sword, a katana, a great axe, and a war hammer—hanging around it. Such a figure was surely the integrated armor remotely controlled by the Platinum Dragon Lord in the original work, the legendary adventurer who had once joined the 'Thirteen Heroes' team—The Silver Knight.
"Take this!" Shalltear smirked and swung her spear, thrusting with full force into the platinum armor's chest.
Although the armor was hollow inside, its movements were very agile. It grabbed its katana with its left hand and a spear with its right, crossing them to block Shalltear's attack.
"You're not bad!" Shalltear praised, her attack having failed. She continued to thrust with her spear, leaving a blur of afterimages that enveloped her opponent's body.
The platinum armor did not choose to continue the close-range fight. After defending for a moment, it used the momentum to retreat, widening the distance between them. Shalltear stopped, staring at the platinum armor's right shoulder in surprise.
"Are you... an Undead, or actually a Golem?" she asked.
The reason she asked was because she had managed to create a large hole in the armor's shoulder with her spear. But, strangely, this 'human' wasn't bleeding, and no biological tissue like flesh and blood was visible. This situation was similar to a Golem, but among the Undead, there were also possession types. Shalltear was unsure.
