Chapter 11 - Pilot ~ Part 11

Abby had done with the surgery, she was tired but there was a small smile on her face as she walked back into the room where she'd been most of the time checking the kids vitals. "Hi, Ab. How's the Chancellor doing?" Cece asked her as she saw her come in and caught up to her. "Ask me again if he makes it through the night." Abby replied softly, still slightly worried that the surgery wouldn't pull him through. She stood in front of the screens, staring at all the kids vitals. "Who else did we lose?" She asked, briefly glancing over her shoulder hearing the doors open, not thinking anything of Kane walking in as she turned back to the screens. "Murphy and Mbege, both named John." A guy beside Abby said. He pulled up their stats and their screens were dark, the red message of transmission terminated flashing across the dark space.

Kane crossed his arms across his chest as he glanced at the screen. "Neither was injured during landing." Kane said. Abby turned around, a look of concern on her face as the guy sat down continued. "I concur, something else killed these two. One second they were fine, and the next, bang." He said. Abby's brows furrowed slightly. "Then it isn't radiation." She said obviously, her eyes snapped to Kane when he spoke. "Come on, Abby. Wishful thinking isn't good science." Kane said smugly.

"It's not wishful thinking. One second, fine, the next, bang, isn't how exposure to radiation presents." She shot back, staring at Kane for a moment in disbelief before she shifted back to look at the screens. "Well, it could be if there was enough of it." Kane pressed on. Abby sighed quietly and rolled her eyes at Kane's comment. She breathed in slightly, her neck tensing before she turned around the Kane, starting to get pissed off. "If there was anything enough of it, they would all be dead." She spat back. She stared at Kane for a moment before turning back around, her eyes immediately locking onto her daughters vitals on the screen, thankful that her tile hadn't turned dark yet. "Please let me be right." She whispered quietly.

The group continued to walk their way to Mount Weather, they were getting closer. "Hey, you know what I'd like to know?" Finn said. Octavia was now at the front of the group, leading the group down a hill, mostly surrounded just by trees and dirt now. Finn was behind her, then Jasper, Monty and Clarke at the back. "Why send us down today after 97 years?" He called out looking back at Clarke. "What changed?" Octavia at the front frowned for a moment as she walked. "Who cares? I'm just glad they did. I woke up rotting in a cell, and now I'm spinning in a forest." She said, grabbing onto a tree and spinning herself around it, she flashed a smile to Finn but he walked straight past her and she stopped and sighed, watching the others pass her.

"Maybe they found something on a satellite, you know, like an old weather satellite or..." Monty said but got cut off by Clarke. "It wasn't a satellite. The Ark is dying." She said quietly but the rest heard. They stopped walking and slowly and turned around to look at her, all their faces dropped. Clarke kept on walking, going past the four of them, her hands still gripping her backpack straps. "At the current population level, there's roughly 3 months left of life support, maybe 4 now that we're gone." She said.

Finn frowned but started to walk beside Clarke. "So that was the secret they locked you up to keep, why they kept you in solitary, floated your old man?" Finn asked. Clarke looked at him, her tongue pressing into her cheek for a moment but she answered him. "My father was the engineer who discovered the flaw." She took a slight breath in, shrugging her shoulders. "He thought the people had a right to know. The council disagreed. My mother disagreed. They were afraid it would cause a panic." She said as she glanced to Finn who was shaking his head, the others listening quietly behind them. "We were gonna go public, anyway, when Wells..." She trailed off slightly. "What?" Finn asked. "Turned in your dad?" Finn said. Clarke pressed her lips together slightly, her lips licking them for a moment as she walked faster.

"Anyways, the Guard showed up before we could. That's why today." Clarke said, answering Finn's earlier question. "That's why it was worth the risk. Even if we all die, at least they bought themselves more time." Monty piped up from the back. "They're gonna kill more people, aren't they?" He asked. Clarke was silent, not wanting to think about having to answer, though her head whipped around hearing what Octavia said. "Good. After what they did to me, I say, float them all." She said and walked ahead of the group. Jasper followed her quickly. "You don't mean that." He mumbled to her.

Finn stared at Clarke for a few seconds. "We have to warn them." He said. Clarke looked back to Finn, her eyes studying his for a moment. "That's what my father said." She said gently. She took a few steps back before turning around, her shoulder bumping into something and she looked up to see she'd walked into Jasper. "Oh, damn, I love Earth." Jasper said with a huge grin on his face.

Octavia was stood a little ahead of the group, on the edge of a massive rock. She bent over slightly, pushing down her blue trousers, showing off her toned legs, pretty much her ass too not entirely hidden by the black underwear she wore. The group looked at her, Jasper and Clarke's mouth dropping wife open seeing Octavia step out of the trousers. Finn had a small smile on his first and Monty just looked confused. Jasper let out a small chuckle before watching Octavia.

Octavia lifted her hand, tucking some hair behind her ear and walked to the edge of the rock, now just in her black panties and her red vest top. "Octavia, what the hell are you doing?" Clarke asked as she stepped forward. Octavia turned around and smiled at Clarke for a moment but didn't answer her. She turned back and jumped off the edge of the rock. Clarke's mouth dropped open, in shock or awe she wasn't sure. She rushed out hearing a slight splash and walked to the edge of the rocky surface before grinning. "Octavia..." Monty called out, the girl was in a large body of water, her head half above the water though it was clear she was smirking. Clarke was just happy they'd found some sort of water. "I can't swim." Monty said.

Octavia smirked some, her hair now wet slicked back behind her. "I know, but we can stand." She smirked and stood up with a soft laugh, Finn grinning at that. Clarke frowned, the crease between her bows coming back. "Wait. There's not supposed to be a river here." Clarke said concerned. "Well, there is. So take off your damn clothes." Finn said with a smirk as he began to take his shoes off.

Jasper was doing the same and he couldn't help the smile, he glanced to Octavia then back down but quickly looked back up, the smile having fallen from his face. He frowned and put his foot down taking a few steps forward as he looked at the river.

"Octavia, get out of the water."
