Chapter 5 - Entrance Exam 3

Oliver and Leon stood some distance apart while staring at each other.

Oliver's brows were contorted into a frown as he stared at Leon who crossed his arm across his chest as he stared back with a mocking sneer.

"What a shame to your family's name..." Leon sneered.

Oliver frowned while the people watching them with trepidation watching as two youngsters from two powerful families from different regions were facing off.

One was a druid, while the other was a barbarian in beast skin.

"Say whatever you want to say...." Oliver said through gritted teeth.

"Let's fight, whoever loses, forfeits all of their points!!!" Leon said with a grin as he cracked his knuckles and his neck.

Oliver paused before he looked at the people he had been trying to intimidate, his lips curved into a sneer, he looked back Leon.

"Leon, are you trying to play hero again??"

Hearing this, Leon's brow twitched slightly before he laughed.

"What do you mean, Ollie...are you scared?"

"Tch...bring it on you, muscle brain compared to before, I am awakened now" Oliver growled as he hated being called by such feminine nickname.

"Sure" Leon said as he flashed an appeared in front of Oliver throwing his fist at him.

Meanwhile

The crown python collapsed to the ground, it's eyes glaring at the teenager it had underestimated as its prey. A glint of unwillingness flash through its eyes before it dimmed.

The teenager whom we all know, Caesar collapsed to the ground on his butt as he gasped for air, his previous clean self was already covered in blood, most of them were his, as his enhanced healing was kicking and the scars he had received were closing up.

The healing was painful still as it felt like ants were biting into the wounds.

Caesar glanced at the sword that was laying down at the side, it had already become a piece of scrap metal, it won't even be able to pierce or make a slice.

[Congratulations, on your first kill, you have earned a hundred points increase in your attributes]

[Congratulations, you have awakened the sword proficiency skill]

[Ascendance skill has caused your reward to increase by five.]

[Attributes]

Strength - 50>200

Agility - 80>230

Vitality - 60>210

Spirit - 100>250

Luck - ???>???

Charm - 50>200

"I already levelled up to mid adept after a single fight, this skill is just too overpowered" Caesar grinned as he clenched and unclenched his fists. The average attributes points of a mid adept is 200.

Even as a mid adept, he was already strong enough.

He checked out his new skill.

[Sword proficiency - a master of the sword(upgradeable), can be increased from regular practice with the sword.]

"Time to blaze through this stage!!" Caesar stood up and hopped twice before jumping of the cliff with a shout.

As he descended he looked at the rankings and noticed that he was ranked 99th, he saw Xenovia' s rank at third and when he saw their points he was puzzled at how fast they had accumulated their points when the test just began.

His happiness from levelling up were just suddenly dashed, because they could get these points without reaching mid adept realm.

Just as he landed, the ranking list appeared in front of him and he saw his rank rise from 99 to 70, with a total of 60 points. He was not the only one with 60 points, he was just the last person with sixty points, nine people above him had sixty points.

The rankings were so absurd that the first ten ranked had different three digit points, while ranking down, most had the same number of points and lower.

Meanwhile, somewhere else, within the lawless hollow, a temple was erected, it was not easily seen as it was hidden within a mountain and its entrance was guarded by a behemoth.

Inside the temple, a huge statue was erected in the middle, its height reaching the roof of the temple which was much unseen. The statue was that of a person whose palms were placed before it, whether it was male or female was unknown, as its head and eye area were covered with a piece of cloth, it was in a cloak, from under the nose to the chin were nowhere to be see, as it looked like it had been broken off.

In front of the statue was a small altar, surrounding this altar were three cloaked figures, who had covered their heads and eyes the same way as the statue. Their cloaks had different patterns, a star, a black sunflower, a red cloud.

"So anyone understands how the infernal codex was able to leave the confines of the temple?" the cloaked figure with a star pattern on its cloak asked, from the voice, you did know she was a woman.

"My subordinates had informed me of this matter, the behemoth had been in a battle with a couple of people, so it had been a diversion..." the figure with a flower patterned cloak began but was interrupted by the red cloud patterned cloaked figure.

"What we should be worrying about is the fact of the infernal codex falling into the wrong hands instead of the fated one?"

Hearing this, the other two fell into a strange silence.

"Do not tell me, you both wanted to use the codex yourselves..."

"Tch, don't act like you never thought of it..." the figure with flower patterned cloak sneered.

"Instead of waiting for a fated person, since the power is in our grasp, why can't we use it to elevate ourselves, instead of waiting on someone who might not even be strong enough to accompany us in our cause" the figure wearing the star patterned cloak reasoned.

"Our cause?...Is it not whatever the fated one chooses, whether good or bad..." the cloud patterned cloaked figure retorted.

"Second brother, you are too uptight -", the star patterned cloaked woman looked towards the cloud patterned cloaked man, "-what if we are the fated one?"

"What the-" the cloud patterned cloaked man wanted to say something before shaking his head with a sigh, "-whatever, at least the codex isn't in the temple anymore..."

Saying his words, he turned around and walked out of the temple, the remaining two looking in his direction.

As soon as he got out of the temple, he reached beside the behemoth and paused. The monster looked down at him with its large eyes. He removed the covering on his head, which revealed his face, it was a face one would easily recall, white hair, dark pupils, a scar across his right eye and across the side of his lips.

"Behemoth, are you sure the fated one appeared here??" the man looked up at the behemoth who grinned.

"Of course, just like you, I'm here waiting for the fated one-"the behemoth looked forward, "-so when I felt him, I had to allow him steal-, I mean take his inheritance"

"You felt him?" the man was puzzled.

"You remember what the foreman had said..."the behemoth said stealing a glance at the man whose eyes widened as they mouthed the same words together.

"...Once you meet the fated or those around the fated, you will know"
