Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Axel POV

I know Echo too well, his favorite things to do are fighting and arguing, but I was surprised how easily Fenrir stopped him. It must be the mate bond.

"Damn... he is too cute to argue with," Echo said through our mind link.

"Are you talking about Fenrir?" I asked.

"Yeah, just look at him, he is like a big puppy," Echo said with a scoff. "Now, I have done more than enough, I will go back to sleep," Echo said with a yawn and let me take control again.

"Wait, are you leaving me with them?" I asked, but I didn't get an answer from Echo. I was still in Fenrir's arms, and I could feel his breaths. Is he asleep? I slowly moved, but I didn't get too far as Fenrir's grip only tightened.

"Don't move," he said. I tried to push him away, but he only tightened his grip around me.

"Fenrir, I need to go," I said, and he let out a low growl.

"No," he said.

"No? I'm not taking no for an answer," I said coldly, but my heart melted at the sight of him. I need to get away from him as soon as possible or I won't be able to control myself.

"You could at least try," he said.

"Not really," I said automatically.

"But you could try," he sighed into my neck. I shivered at the weird feeling.

"But I won't—" Before I could finish, Fenrir put a hand on my mouth and pulled his head away slightly so he could look into my eyes.

"I took your 'no' as an answer last time, so you should do that too now," he said with a slightly commanding tone. I opened my mouth but closed it after nothing came out. He chuckled and leaned closer until our noses brushed against each other. That sent sparks through my entire body, and I felt my face heat up.

"But if you won't take no for an answer, then I won't take your answer next time. So, choose your words carefully," he said with a big smile as he narrowed his eyes. I gulped down the thick air stuck in my mouth.

"You—" I felt hesitant to continue, but within a minute of thinking, I sighed and nodded slowly.

"Fine, I will stay," I said slowly. I could see his lips forming into a bigger smile than last time.

"Good answer," he said and leaned down to my neck again, resting his head there. I sighed and slowly closed my eyes, trying to relax, and that was the last thing I remember. Maybe I fell asleep, or I was lost in my thoughts.

—A few minutes later—

I opened my eyes when I felt Fenrir moving away from my neck and loosening his grip on me. I looked at him and noticed his eyes turning back to their original color that Alpha Lucian had. His forest green eyes shone beautifully.

"Alpha Lucian..." I said, and he looked down at me. His eyes narrowed with a hint of annoyance in them. I raised an eyebrow at this. He slowly sat up and looked at me, still annoyed.

"Alpha Lucian? Is there a problem?" I asked. Then he grabbed my chin forcefully and pulled me closer to him. I let out a low whine at this. My poor little chin...

"Oh, don't be a crybaby, Axel," Echo said in my mind.

"Don't call me that..." Alpha Lucian said, and danger followed his tone. I narrowed my eyes.

"Then—" I said until his grip on my chin only tightened. I grabbed his wrist and growled at him. I pushed his hand away and glared at him. "If you would let me continue something just once, then I could ask you how you would like me to call you," I said with a hint of irritation in my voice. His eyes widened a little; he didn't expect me to speak back like that. I huffed at this, but his surprised face didn't last long when he started to smile widely.

He hummed, "You should call me by my name or some nickname." He looked like a big puppy now that didn't get caught doing something bad.

I raised an eyebrow. "Nickname?" I asked, confused, and he hummed happily and nodded.

"I will think of something..." I said. "But don't get too excited about the idea of having a cute nickname," I told him, and he looked at me as if I was joking, but when he realized I wasn't, he let out a laugh.

"You are funny I need to give you that," he patted my hair. I looked at him and opened my mouth to say something, "You know, you are just as stubborn as Echo," I narrowed my eyes at him at his sentence. Lucian chuckled softly, his breath tickling my neck. "I guess it runs in the family," he said, his voice filled with warmth.

Then a knock distracted me from him. We looked at the door. I got up and went to the door. I opened it, and there was Emily smiling at me. I raised an eyebrow and let her in. I could feel Lucian's piercing gaze at me.

"Hey, Axy—" Lucian let out a growl at this, and Emily looked at him with widened eyes, but immediately bowed her head.

"Greetings, Alpha Lucian," Emily said. Lucian let out a scoff at this and looked away, not impressed with the scene. He was really like a puppy. I sighed and looked back at Emily.

"Don't mind him, Emily," I said as I waved my hand in the air, and once more, I could feel Lucian's sharp gaze on my back.

"So, what is it?" I asked Emily. She looked at me and put her smile back on.

"Doctor May is looking for you," she said.

"Is everything okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, she just wants to speak to you," she said, and she touched my nose, leaving her finger there as if waiting for something. Lucian growled at her, and Emily chuckled at this and smiled.

"You got a really jealous mate, Axy," she said before quickly leaving my room.
