"Isn't calling him 'the baby' fine?" Charles smiled charmingly, wrapping one arm around Janice from behind. He held her gently, watching the little one who, having eaten and been fed, was now nestled in Janice's arms, blinking sleepily before drifting off.
"Ugh, I'm talking seriously here!" Janice pouted, giving him a playful pinch. She knew how much Charles cared about the baby; the name must have been decided long ago. Yet, since she hadn't asked, he hadn't mentioned it.
"Hm…" Charles leaned down to glance at her, then said, "Dad called just now."
"I know!" Janice nodded. The "Dad" he referred to was Derrick, of course.
Suddenly, it clicked. Charles had delayed this conversation all this time, subconsciously showing respect for Derrick. After all, their son was Derrick's grandson. Perhaps he had already accepted Derrick long ago, yet somewhere deep down, he still felt a lingering sense of debt to him.
