Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

Cassidy's POV

Striding through the stairs and listening to the men talk about how they had been deprived of food, I could see the confusion that swept through his face.

I came here to get rid of my problems and not get into other problems so as a result of that, I didn't want to get involved in their issues.

As I took up the apron and started cooking, Lyon didn't say a word and strode back to the living room.

Once I was done, I ushered him into the dining room. At first, Lyon was reluctant, staring at the bowl of oatmeal and bacon before him as I had just served him some poison.

I went ahead to take a scoop, and he was certain that I had swallowed it; he finally began to eat.

"Did you think that I would poison you?"

"No, but I still have no definite idea regarding why you are here and wanted this marriage"

"I already told you, I don't know what else you want to hear from me"

"You don't have to tell me anything; time will tell," he muttered, and his entire attention was on the meal that he was carefully eating, and from the look on his face, no doubt that he was obviously enjoying it.

But that didn't take long as the door swung open and it was the queen standing before us. All the guards immediately stop attention. I also rose to my feet in respect.

She walks over to where I stood as her gaze trails through me from head to toe. "When I heard that you were getting married today, I thought that must be the best joke I have ever heard, because there is no way that anyone would want to get married to a disabled that murdered his mother and father!"

She paused and then stared at me like she was expecting me to react to this, but I remained silent, my head buried to the ground knowing fully well that her face was the last thing that I wanted to see.

"But here I am, an unfortunate girl, my son's left who seems looking for a way out since she was rejected by my son"

"With all due respect Ma, I was not rejected by your son, rather I was the one that rejected him"

My words seemed like a blow to her gut, she gritted her teeth, no doubt that she was thinking about an action to take towards me, but immediately drew back.

"I see that you have a sharp wit, good for you because you are going to be needing it a lot here"

She expressed and turned around, about to step out of there but Lyon called out to her again.

"Mother! Are you going to be attending my wedding?" He was so calm, but I knew that he was dangerous. No man would be so calm even when he had just been humiliated before his bride, except the one that had everything all planned out.

She came to a halt, turned around, and with a smile, she responded. "Of course!" A devious smirk spread through her lips as she did, she took one last look at her before walking away.

"Cassidy, whatever you do in this pack, you need to stay away from her and please, don't get on her bad side"

I nodded my head, knowing fully well that I had no intention of obeying that.

When we arrived at the hall, I was stunned to see my Father present; my eyes scanned around for his wife or Brielle, but they were not there, and the only other people present for my wedding were the elders.

"Cassy!" Dad called me softly as he walked up to where I was standing alone, his eyes staring at me with concern.

"Are you sure about this?"

"I don't know, but I am fully certain that it is much more better than to remain back at home, been bullied, and yet you do nothing but stand there and watch them"

He nodded his head and then held both my hands. "I understand that it wasn't easy for you at home, but trust me when I say that it's not going to be easy here not to mention that you married the wrong son making you an enemy to the queen, she is going to pick on you more than your stepmother ever did and the one you are getting married is not capable of protecting you"

"That is not true Dad, he protected me earlier yesterday didn't he, you would be surprised at how capable he is"

"I know that I have failed you so much, but Cassy, you have a strong wolf, that would be your shield and whatever you do, I wish you sincere happiness"

"Thanks, Dad." I gently gave him a hug, and then he escorted me inside, where Lyon was already at the altar.

The pack's priest commences the marital ritual. Lyon used to be a very powerful Alpha before his death, but the entire place was empty, just a few people present as it made me understood that people only regard you when you are successful and ditch you when you are not.

Once the ritual was over, we went straight into the initiation of vows, I had my gaze glued to him all through the vow but he maintained a blank expression.

"By the power vested on my as the royal priest of ancient crest pack, I now proclaim the both of you Husband and wife!"

He announced and a loud applaud filled the air, I squatted down And then titled forward as Lyon and I went ahead to kiss, but he made sure it was so brief like I was toxic.

But now, I was finally in, with the powers that I needed and I am going to rewrite my fate with this chance given to me by the moon goddess, I will make them all pay and they wouldn't see what is coming.
