Chapter 3 - Get Rid Of Him

'Good guy!'

Lucien couldn't help but twitch the corner of his mouth. This guy didn't even last two times before he was declared insolvent.

Fortunately, he managed to gain another point of Intelligence and the Alchemy Talent from him.

'So, trying to farm didn't seem to work.'

Lucien thought after coming out of the refreshing feeling once again. Honestly, he was beginning to like this feeling.

However, with the simple test now, he realized that he couldn't just farm a single person.

'I need to find someone else. Maybe, that guy Glen?'

"Okay, that's all, Sir Lucien. Now I should go. You can believe in me and wait for good news after a month."

Devan's sudden voice brought Lucien's attention back when he saw him standing from his seat, ready to leave.

From the way he tossed the coin pouch up and down, he seemed quite excited.

Unfortunately, just before he could put it away, though, Lucien suddenly snatched it without warning.

"Hey, what do you mean?"

Devan's face darkened as he watched Lucien tuck the pouch at his side, right alongside three others.

"What do I mean?"

Lucien looked at the angry look on the middle-aged man and felt a little funny.

"I suddenly decided not to give you money. You don't seem reliable."

He spoke like a typical dandy whose words were never meant to be taken seriously.

Inside, though, he was surprised that the system showed no sign of reclaiming the reward he had just received.

"Sir, are you joking? You already gave it to me just now. What kind of Nobel goes back in his words?"

Devan didn't like his joke, as his voice unconsciously turned cold. His middle-aged face twisted in annoyance, hatred clear in his expression.

Losing wealth already in your hands was crushing.

It was like finally getting a kiss from your girlfriend, only for her to pull away at the last second.

"Oh? The kind that is right in front of you. What are you going to do?"

Getting morally kidnapped for taking back his own money? This was a new experience even for Lucien.

"As a scion of a Noble house, you've lowered your dignity for this amount of money? Heh... seems the rumors are true. The Goldveil family bought their nobility with gold and truly has no honor."

To his surprise, though, Devan didn't stop at all.

Instead, he angrily pointed his finger while cursing him and his family. Lucien even saw his faintly glowing hand signalling the use of mana as if ready to attack.

'Is he crazy?'

No matter what, a noble was still a noble. They held a distinguished status and had to be respected.

Just by saying those words right now, Devan deserved to be killed without mercy. Not to mention the use of mana.

'It seems losing 2 points of intelligence in a row made him stupid.'

Lucien could only think like this.

"Kid, why don't you give me that pouch? Let's end this nicely. You don't want to lose the reputation of your family here, do you?"

Devan seemed to have really gone mad as he raised his hand swirling with mana and warned. His eyes were cold while faint momentum pressed down trying to intimidate.

Although he was only at the apprentice level, since Lucien was someone devoid of mana, it wasn't hard for him to beat him up.

"Welp, it cannot be helped then."

Seeing his behavior, Lucien finally sighed. Now, he was sure it must be the impact of his system that made Devan do such a stupid thing.

Unfortunately, he didn't seem able to see other people's status otherwise, he could confirm.

Still, knowing the cause didn't mean he'd be patient.

He was fed up with being looked down upon. That had been the case in his previous life.

Now, after transmigrating into a fantasy world as the rich heir of a noble house, if he still lowered his head, he might as well die again, drowning in spit.

So, he just casually lifted his arm and gave an order,

"Garrick, get rid of him!"

"Yes, Lord!"

As soon as he gave the order, the closed door of the chamber automatically opened, followed by the cold male voice in compliance.

Then, Lucien saw a tall man with broad, muscular shoulders and a strong, defined frame encased in dark armor. His fierce presence, paired with cold, emotionless eyes visible through the angular slits of the helm, radiated an intimidating aura.

Garrick was the knight hired by his mother for his safety. He was at the peak of the Invoker realm.

It was a piece of cake to subdue someone who was at an apprentice level.

"Swish!"

And just as he thought, as soon as Garrick arrived, he suddenly appeared beside Devan in the blink of an eye.

Despite the weight of his heavy armor, his movements were eerily silent—each step precise, making not a single sound.

'Is this how you use mana?'

Lucien could see faintly glowing mana around Garrick's leg when he appeared behind Devan.

Although there were multiple classes in this world, at the end of the day, mana was the essence. What differed was how you used it.

For example, knights channeled mana through their resonating life cores, while mages relied on their mana cores instead.

"What? What... are you doing? Let me go."

The silence in the chamber was finally shattered by Devan's scream as Garrick seized him by the neck and lifted him like a chicken.

"Stop! I said Stop!"

He screamed at the top of his lungs, struggling to break free, but he couldn't budge as the grip around his neck was like a steel vice, unrelenting and cold.

"Thud!"

Garrick didn't care about his cry, though, nor did he care about the crowd that gathered outside due to his scream. Instead, he just lifted him and threw him outside the room like garbage with no dignity.

"You are lucky that we are in the Golden Hearth. Otherwise..."

He then coldly warned with murderous intent before swiftly returning to Lucien's side, who was walking out of the VIP lounge.

"S-Sir Lucien, y-you're too much! If you didn't want to give me money, you could've just said so!"

Devan finally came back to his senses after being thrashed outside so embarrassingly. Yet, he still didn't forget to complain as he brushed off the dust and ran away in a hurry.

"Hey, Isn't that Alchemist Devan?"

"Wow, did you hear that? Lucien didn't give money to him."

"How is this possible? Isn't he an Alchemist?"

"Alchemist, my foot. He can't even get into the Alchemist Guild."

"Pathetic! He couldn't manage to get money from Lucien. What's he going to do with his life?"

"Haha... no wonder he ran away in a hurry. He can't show his face anymore."

The Golden Hearth Inn was a famous restaurant in Bellenford Capital in the Edoria Kingdom. It seemed to be related to some duke.

Hence, most people coming here were all from nobility or at least had some connection.

They were fully aware of Lucien and his prodigal habits.

As long as someone showed little promise that his talent could be increased, Lucien would give any amount of gold he had.

So, it was quite a shock to see someone running away now. Some people even looked at Lucien to see if something had changed.

"What are you staring at? Go on, and mind your own business."

Lucien, of course, heard everything, making him speechless.

"Hey, what happened here?"

Just when Lucien was annoyed and was about to leave the inn, a sweet voice filled with curiosity came from afar.
