Chapter 139 (Pointing at the cat) Transform for me!
"I really didn't expect Joey to be so strong; he's actually suppressing Yugi," Sheppard exclaimed, looking at the (Red-Eyes Black Dragon) with 2400 ATK and the (Flame Swordsman) with 2500 ATK on Joey's Field. "In just one Turn, he completely reversed the situation. Now, Yugi is the one in trouble."
"After all, Joey's best skill is always a desperate Counterattack," Chumley said. "'Just a lucky Duelist' was merely a joke among us; that guy's Dueling prowess is actually quite formidable."
Hearing Chumley's acknowledgment of Joey, Mai Valentine beside him couldn't help but add, "Exactly! Joey is someone who can defeat me. If he only relied on luck, wouldn't that be demeaning me as well?"
Watching Joey Summon two powerful Monsters with over 2000 ATK in a single Turn after getting serious, even Yugi, who stood opposite him, showed a relieved smile. He couldn't help but recall a long time ago, the Joey whose Deck was filled with nothing but (Normal Monster)s, without a single Spell Card, and who would loudly exclaim in surprise over a 1500 ATK (Dark King of the Abyss).
'You've grown so much, Joey.'
'The experiences in Duelist Kingdom have brought about many changes in you. You're no longer the person you once were. If Kaiba were to see the person you are now, he would surely acknowledge you, wouldn't he?'
Thinking this, Yugi placed his finger on his Deck, and Drew a Card: "My Turn!"
'Then, in return for you getting serious, I'll go all out from now on!'
"This intense Battle has really consumed a lot of our cards, Joey. In that case, I Activate the Spell Card, (Card of Sanctity)! Both players' hands are replenished to six cards!"
[Joey: Hand 0 → 6]
[Yugi: Hand 0 → 6]
Drawing his hand, Joey looked at the rather splendid cards in his hand, but he couldn't bring himself to be happy. From Yugi's expression, he could tell that Yugi had also Drawn some excellent cards.
'Although I don't have any Spell or Trap Cards Set on my Field, I have two high ATK Monsters as a wall, and my Life Points are so much higher than Yugi's. He definitely can't defeat me in one Turn.'
'But why do I feel so uneasy? Yugi hasn't even started his Summon yet.'
Yugi didn't have the ability to read minds, so he naturally didn't know the unease in Joey's heart at that moment. He played a Spell Card: "Being Destroyed earlier was an unavoidable move, but now the conditions are met, it's time to return to the Field! I Activate the Spell Card (Monster Reborn), to Revive (Dark Magician Girl), who was sent to the Graveyard earlier after a mutual destruction with (Panther Warrior)!"
"Chumi-mi~" Letting out an indecipherable but cute sound, (Dark Magician Girl) was Revived onto Yugi's Field. The short magic wand in her hand spun twice around her fingertips, but she almost dropped it, picking it up hurriedly. Clearly, when it came to the skill of spinning a magic wand, she hadn't quite mastered it from Yugi's (Dark Magician) yet.
"Hehe, Yugi, although (Dark Magician Girl)'s ATK is quite good, she alone can't defeat any of the Monsters on my Field~"
Yugi responded to Joey with a smile, revealing a card in his Hand: "Of course, I know that, Joey."
"But do you know? (Dark Magician Girl) has a teacher, you know?"
A Spell Card depicting a rainbow gem was played by Yugi. In front of (Dark Magician Girl) on the Field, an identical seven-colored gem slowly emerged, radiating extremely potent magical energy.
"I Activate the Spell Card, (Sage's Stone)." Yugi pointed at the gem on the Field. "It can only be Activated when (Dark Magician Girl) is present on my Field. I Special Summon (Dark Magician) from my Deck! Come forth! My strongest partner,"
"Black Magician!!!"
The (Sage's Stone), lauded in alchemy as the "Fifth Element," "Red Elixir," "Great Miracle," and "Great Creation," suddenly cracked open, and a tsunami-like surge of magical energy swept across the entire Field. With the (Sage's Stone) shattering into dust as its core, a profound magic circle was constructed on Yugi's Field. Amidst a dazzling light, (Dark Magician), clad in a black and purple wizard's robe and wielding a staff as tall as himself, descended!
[(Dark Magician)][ATK2500]
Witnessing the appearance of Yugi's Ace Monster from his Deck—(Dark Magician)—Joey felt no fear, only boiling excitement: "You actually Summoned a powerful Monster like (Dark Magician) using only two cards from your Hand? You're something else, Yugi. When you get serious, you're truly hard to deal with."
"But, with just (Dark Magician) and (Dark Magician Girl), you can't defeat my Monsters!"
"Heh heh, I wonder about that?" Yugi smiled, delivering his famous line.
"I Activate the Spell Card, (Trap Booster)! By discarding one card from my hand, I can Activate a (Trap Card) directly from my hand!"
Joey was startled: "You don't need to Set it to Activate a (Trap Card)?!"
Chumley on the Spectator Stands was equally startled: 'What the hell, isn't that Zane's card?!'
"The (Trap Card) I'm Activating from my Hand is this one, (DNA Surgery)!" Yugi Sent a card to the Graveyard and played the (Trap Card) from his Hand. "This card's effect is that after declaring one Type, all Monsters on the Field become the declared Type."
"I choose Warrior-Type!"
A red scanning light curtain appeared on Yugi's Field, swiftly sweeping from the Back Row to the Monster Zone. It passed over (Dark Magician Girl) and (Dark Magician) without stopping, continuing forward across Joey's (Red-Eyes Black Dragon) and (Flame Swordsman) on the Field. Only then did the red light curtain finally vanish behind Joey's Back Row.
The light curtain disappeared, but the Monsters on the Field began to change. After (Dark Magician) loudly declared "There can be only one answer!", he directly snapped his emerald staff with his knee, pulled out a door-sized greatsword from his four-dimensional butt, and slung it over his shoulder, becoming a perfectly standard "mage" proficient in close combat.
(Dark Magician Girl) followed suit, tossing her wand into the air. When she caught it on its way down, it had transformed into two small daggers. She even playfully licked one of the daggers, saying things like, "My daggers are coated with deadly poison!" and "Don't get burned by my sharp blades!"
(Flame Swordsman), being a Warrior-Type himself, remained entirely unchanged.
Compared to (Dark Magician) and his apprentice merely swapping weapons, the other Monster on Joey's Field—(Red-Eyes Black Dragon)—was the one that underwent the most significant transformation.
Its colossal, dark body miniaturized to half a person's height, its sturdy dragon scales transformed into skimpy armor covering white skin. Though its dragon wings and dragon horns remained, they were much more rounded than the sharp features of its dragon form. With a pair of large red eyes, the "Red-Eyes Black Dragon Girl" looked at (Dark Magician) and his apprentice on Yugi's Field, tilting her head.
(Red-Eyes Black Dragon): (OvO)?
(Author's note: I just checked, and since this book started updating, it has received a total of 26,300 points in reader donations, which is more than I expected. Based on my initial thought of adding an extra chapter for every 5000 points, I currently owe 5 chapters. I'll slowly pay them back, hehe.)
