Chapter 1 - ' The arrival.' Chapter 1

Two black SUVs with tinted windows crossed the borders of Moonlight pack territory at high speed. They rolled to a stop at the edge of the road, tires crunching over gravel, besides a two-floored, detached house near a square park.

Jungkook pressed his forehead against the cool window, watching the towering pine trees sway under the bruised twilight sky. His fingers clutched in the hem of his oversized, black hoodie, squeezing hard.

Nervous. He was dead nervous.

Barely breathing, palms sweaty, head spinning like he had been riding a rollercoaster for hours.

That was their last chance. Their last chance to feel safe after years of running, hiding, watching over their backs. All because of him. He was the reason for his family's ordeal and the unbearable burden weighing on his shoulders.

His dad Namjoon turned off the engine with a grin." We're here." His tone sounded steady and firm but he found himself trembling while taking a deep breath.

Jin, his papa, stirred in the passenger's seat, snapped around to give Jungkook a reassuring smile." It's going to be fine. Hobi is waiting for us."

Jin and Namjoon got out of the car, their eyes carefully scanning the premises." Everything seems to be in order." Namjoon stated firmly, signalling his mate to proceed.

" Hobi wouldn't have insisted on staying with him otherwise." Jin replied, his eyes moving swiftly, still observing the surroundings as he got out of the car.

" We can never be too careful, love. You know what's at stake. Our son's safety."Namjoon reminded him as if he needed it. He knew damn well the dangers and risks.

" Nobody can find us here. The Moonlight pack is heavily guarded and well protected from humans and werewolves."

" Let's hope so." Jin muttered. Sharing his doubts was pointless since the decision to hide there was mutual after Hobi's assurance about their safety.

Two more men stepped out of the second car, drawing closer. The dark haired Beta with a permanent cocky expression on his handsome face, opened the door and offered his hand to his brother, making an effort to smile. He was scared..scared to death but tried to conceal it behind his usual sassiness.

"No more looking over our shoulder Kook. This pack is strong. No one is getting past their borders easily." Jimin noted in a frail attempt to ease his younger brother as well as himself.

Jungkook swallowed hard, the lump in his throat made him gasp. He wanted to believe it but the years of running, hiding after the break-ins,the letters, the threats and the attempted kidnapping had drained him of trust and hope. The crisp mountain air hit his face as soon as his foot felt the ground, shivering and pulling his hoodie tighter around his body.

" I thought Hobi would be here to welcome us." Jimin whispered in his papa's ear.

" He texted me. He was called off in an emergency saying he'd come as soon as possible." Jin shuffled closer to the house, bent down scrabbling on the front door, under the rug, revealing a small key." Got it." He opened the iron door widely, making room for the rest to enter.

" How original! He couldn't even come!" Jimin's cynical remark made them smile slightly.

" Baby don't be rude! He's a doctor. Duty calls he runs." Yoongi glanced at his mate but Jimin was known for his sassiness and sharp tongue so his words didn't matter to him.

" Oh please! He hasn't seen us since.." he waved his hands dramatically." Forever and.." He blew a huff and then tilted his head from side to side. He was pissed off but not from Hobi's absence. That was merely rhe excuse. Jimin was scared.

They walked inside the house with their luggage and Jin made his way into the modern kitchen, situated at the back left side of the house, smiling in contempt. Namjoon headed straight to Hobi's magnificent library, filled with stocks of rare, ancient books, anticipating the nights he'd get the chance to read them.

Jimin and Yoongi climbed upstairs to their bedroom to unpack and half an hour later returned downstairs.

Jungkook flopped on the white couch, stretching his stiff legs and yawned. He was exhausted and his butt had numbed from sitting in the back seat of the car for hours unable to close his eyes, not even for a split second because each time he did,he saw rogues hunting them. Snatching him from his family..the constant nightmare that tormented him for the past eight years. He could hardly remember life before it. Those happy, joyful days of laughter and carefreeness! Where life was simple and filled with dreams and anticipation about the future.

" Finally!" A sweet voice was heard.

Jungkook swirled his head to the door to see Hobi jogging towards them with a beaming smile bright enough to rival the sun. But its warmth couldn't melt the ice in his veins.

Hobi pulled Jin and Namjoon into a tight hug then moved to Jimin and Yoongi.

" Sorry I couldn't be here. A difficult birth. We nearly lost the pup."

" We understand." Jin replied, throwing Jimin a death glare, warning him to tame his big mouth. Surprisingly,he obeyed, although he wasn't sure for how long. Words had the tendency of slipping out of Jimin's mouth more often than necessary.

" A doctor's duty is his patients."Namjoon noted and stood at the edge of the couch, next to his mate. His raging heart felt surprisingly calmer at that moment.

" Is everything alright?" Hobi asked, noticing the restless expressions on their faces combined to tiredness and Jin rushed to reply.

" A bit tired I guess but other than that.."

" You're safe now." Hobi whispered before shifting his attention to Jungkook and his expression softened." Hey Kook!"

Jungkook managed to nod." Hi, hyung."

Hobi let out a weak sigh as he hugged him." I know this isn't ideal but trust me. The Moonlight pack is the safest place to be right now. The most secure pack in the country. No rogue is getting near you here."

' No rogue except the one who's already in my head.' Jungkook thought bitterly but didn't utter a word.

They all sat on the couches next to their mates and Hobi took a seat beside Jungkook." I've missed you guys. It's been absolutely crazy here. The job,the hospital, the responsibilities.." he let out an exasperated sigh.

Namjoon tapped his back." Being a doctor is a full time job Hobi. Anyway thank you for taking us in. We're grateful to you and Alpha Kim. It must have been hard persuading them to accept us into their pack."

Hobi smiled." Alpha and Luna are exquisite people. Always understanding and compassionate. When I explained the circumstances they didn't hesitate for a moment and gave me permission to invite you here."

" When will we get the chance to meet them?" Jin asked, crossing his legs." Thank them properly."

" Soon. I'll arrange a meeting as soon as you settle in. They're very anxious to meet you."

" So are we." Namjoon confirmed, nodding."It's a huge risk for their pack to accept us knowing.."

" True but they're used to offering help to those who need it." Hobi turned to Jimin and Yoongi."Did you have a nice ride coming here? Our territory is hard to reach."

Jimin was having a hard time controlling his tongue and his chest rose with a tight breath of annoyance ." It was a bumpy ride and haven't you people ever heard of concrete roads? We couldn't see anything from the dust."

Hobi burst out laughing." Sorry.. I'll tell Alpha to fix them."

" And you weren't here to welcome us! " Jimin drawled in pique, cocking his head to the right.

" An Omega was in labour and I had to go. I did text Jin."

" Don't mind him Hobi!" Jin chimed in." He becomes sassier by the minute."

Jimin rolled his hazelnut eyes." If you have any complaints, address the manufacturer." He pointed his head to Jin.

" Brat!" Jin exclaimed, huffing." I don't know how you put up with him Yoongi!"

" With significant effort, hyung!"

"Oh really?" Jimin twitted in bits, raising a brow." You're no walk in the park Min. When you don't eat,you sleep. And when you don't sleep, you stare at nothing with profound laziness! " He threw back at him.

" Have you any idea how tiring it is to do nothing? It's exhausting!" Yoongi mumbled, sighing.

"I bet! " Jimin barked." I've never seen a person getting tired from sitting."

Hobi was wreathed in smiles. He had missed the noisiness and bickering of his family. Those delightfully disturbing moments of absolute chaos. It was a nice change! He massaged his neck that after hours of working nonstop was stiff and aching.

Jin prepared something quick and they sat around the round table having dinner between chatting, laughing and feeling as if a part of their weight had been lifted from their shoulders. Jungkook was the only one whose mind was troubled and the knot in his throat wouldn't permit food to go to his stomach. He was stirring his food, eyes stark and bleak, smiling from time to time so as not to spoil the mood.

Realising he had no strength left to endure the family's joyful time,he excused himself and went up to his room at the end of the hallway.

The moment he stepped in the vanilla scent lingering in the air smashed his nostrils. He noticed the aromatic candles on the modern, sleek, white desk by the huge window and a faint smile laced his lips.

He remembered.

Jungkook's preference for redolent candles excluding his scent. Vanilla and honey rain. His fingers trailed gently over the different shaped objects. Ever since he was a small pup,he was in the habit of collecting candles and Hobi hadn't forgotten. His luggage was set on his bed and he sluggishly plodded his feet to that side, opening it and started unpacking. He didn't know for long..they were accustomed to packing in a hurry and escaping.

" Let's hope this time it will last longer." he muttered to himself. His gaze dangled around the room. Modern, minimalist with cozy, earthy touches. A low, king-sized bed with smooth cream linen sheets, pilled with oversized knit blankets. The closet had sliding walnut doors, slightly ajar to reveal the oversized hoodies and soft sweatpants he used to wear to hide his frame.

He sluggishly opened his luggage, hung his clothes inside the closet, his leather bound journal and sketchbook on the desk. The scent diffuser, used to calm his nerves and a family photo were spread on the dresser, under the shiny mirror along with his healing kit filled with herbal balms, bandages, salves, antidotes, needles and splints.Jungkook despite his fragile appearance was an exceptional healer.. among other things..

The silver dagger, he always carried, was placed under the linen pillow..just in case and his salt lamp on the nightstand, casting a soft, pink glow to the room. Once everything was in order he sat on the plush, ivory armchair by the window decorated in sheer, cream coloured curtains and loittered outside.

The guilt he always carried was casted upon him like a heavy weight,he was unable to endure. Eight years of relentless suffering, constant running and hiding like fugitives had tested his patience and made him edgy. A simple shout or an unexpected, sudden voice would make his heart ready to burst out of his chest and explode, often giving him panic attacks.

His family, once the most wealthy and powerful in Seoul, was now doomed to running like common criminals and that shadow haunted his dreams. Their lives had become a never ending battle for survival, forcing them to abandon one place after the other when discovered. Jungkook tried to shrug off the feeling of accountability crashing his chest but it seemed impossible.

His parents were forced to relinquish their careers and home in Seoul. His brother and hyung had to give up on their dreams of creating a family..all because of him. He was the reason behind their misery. Sometimes he wished the Moon Goddess would take his life, offering him peace and spare him the ordeal of watching his loved ones being tortured.

Unfortunately,he was still breathing.

He folded his knees on the comfy armchair, hugging them and laboured breaths escaped his pink, succulent lips but no tear vented on his cheeks. He had spent years of weeping and crying and wondering why him? This entire situation was an obstacle for him to find his mate. He was twenty heading to twenty one but mateless. He yearned to find his mate..his Alpha, knowing their bond would be a shield and grant him protection.

His wolf Gguk was desperately craving for his mate. His other half to feel complete. Jungkook understood his need but reality was hard for both of them. He had slim chances of finding his mate since they were on the run and had to come to terms with the possibility of being mateless all his life.

Dawn found him still by the window observing the bright sun stripes rising lazily over the horizon, removing the dark shadows and casting light on the vast forest. Only then did he lay under the covers, cradling and allowing himself to sleep.

__________

Downstairs,in the study Namjoon,Hobi and Yoongi were having a late night drink. Namjoon, with eyes glowing from excitement, was strolling around the room, admiring the rare book collection. As an intellectual bookworm himself being surrounded by such knowledge, made his heart leap in joy and despite their adventurous way of living he always enjoyed reading a good book.

Although he was missing the frequent visits to Art galleries, museums and exhibitions,he had managed to adjust to the new order of things and their new reality. Namjoon's priority was the welfare of his family.

" They let you cross the borders easily?" Hobi asked, cramming down one of Jin's fruit tarts, which he brought along and placed on the wooden coffee table.

They were now sitting on the leather, beige couch." After ten hours of driving nonstop,we were thoroughly searched and scanned, asked all sorts of questions.. yeah they let us!" Namjoon responded, grabbing an old book from the small table by the couch.

" They have certain rules and they're extremely strict and cautious when dealing with strangers crossing their borders." He paused, hesitated whether or not to continue but since they were here it was only fair to tell them. " The situation between the East and the West packs has deteriorated during the last two weeks. There have been some attacks on our border and have lost a few good warriors."

Yoongi stirred in his seat, perched at the edge of the couch, leaving his glass of whiskey on the coffee table in a loud thug. His guts were warning him about coming to this faraway, forgotten place. He could smell trouble a mile away." And you didn't bother telling us? If a war between the packs breaks out we're in the middle..and we can't afford it."

" One of the reasons we came was your personal assurance for our safety. Getting involved in a war is not ideal for us,being in the crossfire is unacceptable Hobi." Namjoon reprimanded him in a strict, firm tone.

Hobi sighed deeply." I wasn't aware of the situation when I invited you here. Last time we spoke,a month ago, none of these was a fact. It was sudden and unexpected. Our Alpha and Luna and especially their son Taehyung, are highly skillful and vigorous to handle the situation when and if we come to that. The pack is powerful and has valuable allies so there's no need to panic. " Hobi assured them, trying to sound certain and convincing.

The truth was no one could predict if a war was approaching but they were preparing and training for every possible scenario. Alpha Kim wished to maintain peace amongst the packs and was working hard on ensuring it.

"I told you coming here was a bad idea, didn't I?" Yoongi snarled, ruffling his hair with both hands." Did you listen? No!"

" We had no other choice. I had to make the best decision for us." Namjoon defended himself.

" Well.. good job! " He gave him a thumbs up."Now we'll get involved in somebody else's fucken war."

" Did you have a better idea?"

" Damn right I did! We should have killed the bastard and get this over with!"

" We're civilised Yoongi. Not avengers seeking for blood and revenge. You can't go around murdering people like common killers." Namjoon contradicted him strictly. Even though the thought had crossed his mind a million times, having the same impulse.

" Even when our loved ones are in danger? When their lives are threatened? Fuck moral values Nam! Fuck the freaking laws! We seek justice and peace for our family. A way to end this constant battle. The hiding and running and watching over our shoulder, afraid to breathe and live. We could have easily wiped him from the face of the earth and sent him to hell to meet his maker!" Yoongi lashed out, banging his hand on the table, stirring the glasses.

" That's not how to operate." Namjoon knew convincing him was impossible. Not when he carried the same doubts and thoughts.

" Apparently,we have surrendered to fate. We keep praying, hoping and wishing for a fucken miracle! And I'm telling you Namjoon it would have been a lot easier to slit his throat and watch him die!" He abruptly stood up, marching towards the door." I'm going to bed." He slammed the door behind him and stalked off.

The room fell into a suffocating hush. No one spoke, only the weight of unspoken words and unshed emotions lingered. Namjoon felt uneasy, the burden thundering his soul was consuming." I know he's right. Killing him would save us."

" Then why didn't you? Kill him?" Hobi asked, crossing one leg over another.

" When we decided to live in the human world and raise our sons there,we became part of it. We had to obey their laws and killing bears consequences. We had to let go of our upbringing and the way we solve our differences. We couldn't go around murdering people."

" He's not human Namjoon. He's a rogue."

" A very powerful rogue with connections to the police, government officials and don't forget who his father was. I've tried everything from getting a restriction order, filling a lawsuit, taking him to court..he always got away with it. Managed to overcome obstacles and walk away scot-free. Just a pat on the back and the reassurance he wouldn't do it again."

" Those rogues who escape punishment from established laws need to be reminded that there's an unspoken rule between us. We eliminate threats the only way we were taught. By killing them."

" I refuse to turn into a monster for him."

" You're seeking justice and since you can't find it in the human laws..you do what you have to do." As a doctor his job was to save lives not take them. In this case,he occasionally found himself reconsidering his values and beliefs as a last resort.

" Perhaps you're right." He lurched back, leaning against the backrest and stretching his legs." I feel helpless. Weak. Hiding in the shadows. Putting our lives on hold. The things my boys are missing. I have failed as a father Hobi. I'm incapable of keeping them safe." His breathing ragged and choked.

Hobi patted his back reassuringly. He couldn't understand or put himself into his shoes but he realised how stressful and strenuous it must have been for him to carry this burden for years." You've done the best you could. Nobody knows what the future has installed for us but as long as you stay here, you're safe."

" I hope so..I sincerely hope so." A deep, heavy sigh left his mouth.

" Come on. It's late and you need rest." He stood up, signalling the older to follow him. " Tomorrow I'll show you around the city and introduce you to the pack."

" The Kim's?"

" You'll meet them soon enough." He paused again." Our leaders are extraordinary people but their son.. Taehyung.. he's..mmmm..how should I put it?"

" Difficult? Spoilt?"

" More of a profound unpleasant specimen. A man of unparalleled boorishness."

Namjoon furrowed his brows." Meaning..?"

" An asshole. He's a fucken asshole."

Namjoon didn't like the sound of that!

_________

The next morning, stomachs full and spirits high, the family was given a tour of the city by Hobi. Each corner of the Pack's territory unfolded like a mystical storybook came to life.

The city rose from the earth like a kingdom carved from shadows and gold. A metropolis where wild instincts and modern cunning collided. Towering obsidian spires twisted skyward, their surfaces etched with glowing runes. The streets were wide, paved with dark volcanic stone worn smooth by centuries of paw and foot, lit not only by lampposts but by bioluminescent vines that curled along the buildings casting a cadging ever shifting glow.

Oddly luxurious stores and restaurants, haze smoked taverns, market stalls lined in the central square selling everything from enchanted daggers,axes,silver-tipped arrows,lust-inducing pheromone oils,'moon madness ' tonics, wolfbane antidotes to spiced blood sausages and haunches of elk.

The scent of iron, pine and smoked meat lingered thickly, mixed with the sweetness of night-blooming jasmine. All too warped beyond their comprehension, gothic like a rejected Tim Burton movie. Jungkook thought that the city reeked of challenges, death and power, contradicting his upbringing in the modern, civilised world he had spent the first twelve years of his life.

At the city's heart,on a towering foothill, the Alpha's estate. A fortress of black marble veined with gold. Its gates were flanked by armored warrior Alphas and Betas.

Hobi,as the Pack's doctor, was highly respected by everyone in the community and was joyfully greeted while strolling through the city's streets. The newcomers were dealt with stone cold indifference, numbed smiles and bizarre looks.

They sat at the end of the main street, opposite a park bustling with children's laughter, at a cozy, small cafe owned by an Omega. She was the only one who greeted them with kindness and showed them hospitality. They had coffee and brownies, chatting about the impression the city had made on them.

" So..what do you think so far?" Hobi asked them, taking a sip of his creamy coffee.

" It's certainly eccentric." Namjoon responded.

" Completely opposite from modern Seoul." Jin added, munching his chocolate fudge brownie.

" Things work at a different pace here." Hobi started explaining." We've got traditional armoury mixed with the latest technology. Modern hospital but also alchemists and hags. Some of the wolves here have no trust in doctors and a preference for old remedies and spells. I was faced with scepticism when I first arrived but I gradually gained their trust and respect. They're good people."

" We're used to an utterly different way of living." Jimin chimed in." Do they have movies here? Arcades? Bowling? Beauty spas?"

Hobi cracked a smile." There's a cinema on the other side of the road." He pointed his hand at the end of the street behind the park." We've got a sports centre, a crochet club for the women and a training camp for the soldiers. A spa? Mmmm" he scratched his head." There's a natural swamp by the river..you can use it for face masks, body wraps, hair treatment."

" Oh! That's super exciting! A whole swamp all to myself! " Jimin clapped his hands, pulled a face, and rolled his eyes." And I've always dreamt of learning the secrets of crochet!" He gazed at Yoongi." I'm knitting you a sweater."

"Leave me out of this. Sweaters are itchy."

"I need a muse to visualise my wonderful creation." Jimin continued the teasing.

" Find another ginea pig,love."

" You're not supportive! Bruhhh!"

" Jimin quit nagging!" Jin warned his sassy brat." We didn't come here for the sights or the recreations. You'll find something to do."

" Yeah? Like what?" Jimin folded his arms on his chest.

" There's also a shooting range at the training camp." Hobi replied, choking a laugh.

Jin turned to his son." See? That's a great way to channel your energy to something constructive."

" Are you sure, honey?" Namjoon asked, cocking his head." Jimin? With a gun? In his hands? We're all sitting targets!"

Jin made it into a vivid picture and shook his head in horror, gulping hard at the disturbing prospect." Bad idea! We keep Jimin away from guns, knives, arrows, daggers and anything sharp and pointy!"

" How about you lock me up in a dungeon and throw away the key?"Jimin jeered, scoffing. He grabbed his coffee and gulped half of it down then crossed one leg over the other and kept mumbling." Come to think about it, shooting isn't a bad idea. Who knows? I might find it amusing to shoot someone right between the eyes."

Jungkook was the only two who hadn't said a word. Alongside Yoongi who was still pissed he didn't get the chance to kill that bastard and end this never ending adventure, tapping his fingers on the table and his foot on the ground.

Jungkook's mind was troubled, confused and for some unknown reason his heart was pounding in his chest. He was holding his kit on his lap, hoping he'd get the opportunity to gather more herbs and plants.

" Hyung?" He whirled around towards Hobi."Could you take me to the forest later? I need to search for herbs."

Hobi caressed his shiny, black hair."After we finish our coffee. There's an exceptionally unique variety of herbs and plants in the soil. But we aren't allowed to go deep into the woods. It's forbidden."

" Why?"

Hobi had no intention of scaring him by revealing about the attacks so he found a less intimidating excuse." The forest is vast and wild and certain parts unreachable so our leaders have forbidden us from entering too deep. You'll find everything you need at the woodland edge by the riverbank."

For the first time Jungkook's dark, green eyes sparkled with anticipation and excitement as a smile formed in his pink, succulent lips." I can't wait, hyung!"

" It's good to see you smile! You should do it more often." Hobi threaded his fingers through Jungkook's hair.

The Omega nodded and kept smiling. He then turned his gaze on the kids at the playground, running carefree, laughing, playing, eyes nostalgic and deeply melancholic. He had forgotten how it was to be a child. He had grown up overnight. The dreams and hopes for the future were crushed by a cruel reality that left him broken and scared.

He found comfort in helping people every chance he got.Jungkook possessed unique healing powers, profound knowledge of ancient remedies combined with modern methods and gentle hands. A little pup,no more than seven, had tripped and fallen on the dirty, muddy side of the park, next to the playground, over some thick, rosy bushes while playing hide and seek. His palms and knees were scratched and bleeding from the thorns.

Jungkook didn't hesitate for a moment. He rushed by his side, knelt in front of the weeping boy and opened his kit, whispering gentle reassurances to the pup. He removed the thorns, cleaned his wounds with devotion and practiced ease, which stunned the crowd gathered around him. He then pressed a poultice of crushed yarrow and lavender to his skin.

" Does it hurt?" he asked the boy softly.

Soonin sniffled, shook his head and the crying stopped." No..it smells nice." he replied shyly.

Jungkook smiled brightly, wrapping bandages around the wounds." Great! You'll be running again tomorrow. What's your name, pup?"

" Soojin…yours?"

" Jungkook."

The boy beamed and all of the sudden,he threw his little arms around Jungkook's neck."Thank you,Omega Jungkook."

The boy, probably an Alpha, had picked up his scent, realising his rank. Jungkook's family also appeared, smiling proudly, along with the boy's mother,a Beta who thanked him for his help.

Just like that the cold smiles turned to warm ones. Their odd, distant gazes shifted to thankfulness. An admiration,a silent respect for the gorgeous,Omega healer. As more people approached them that admiration grew stronger and bigger.

The invitations kept piling up. Namjoon was invited to the old library packed with rare books,Jin to the women's club and that sparked his idea for a cooking club to share his knowledge.Yoongi to the training camp and Jimin to the sports club..Jimin hated sports but kept his big mouth shut so as not to appear disrespectful. Jungkook was approached by some 'wannabe ' hags offering to show him around the premises to gather herbs.

That alone lifted his spirit up!

___________

Jungkook was restless, conflicted, simmering with an unconscious fear for the unknown. The full moon ,silver and glowing peeping through the window, painting the walls in silver streams felt like an omen. His wolf Gquk was agitated but he didn't understand why. Tomorrow his family would meet the Alpha and Luna of the pack for the first time. A formal introduction arranged by Hobi.

His wolf couldn't stop pacing inside his head. Jungkook in spite of his upbringing in the modern city was familiar with the protocol. Every expected bow. Every carefully crafted word not to reveal more than he should.

His fingers snatched and twisted against his sheets restless. He rolled to the side of the bed, fisted the pillow under his head and sighed.

" It's just a meeting…nothing could go wrong." he lisped to himself in absolute silence. Gquk surged up,claws raking his insides. His skin burnt like he had a high fever. A hive of wasps in his skull, raised a storm behind his eyes. Each thought a sting. Each memory a wingbeat against his temples.

A premonition of danger.

He hated feeling helpless and powerless. Being born an Omega in a world of Alphas and Betas, where personalities and characters were measured by ranks, was a situation unfamiliar, with him having spent all his life amongst humans.

Because they didn't care. paid no attention to ranks. However, werewolves thought of Omegas as weak, pathetic creatures, torturing and mistreating them, denying them the chance to prove their capabilities.

His biggest fear at the moment was how the pack and its leaders and council would receive him. With scepticism? Defiance? Hostility? As a threat if they knew…?

He drew up, reached out his hand, grabbed his kit, opened it and held a small vial of lavender oil. He dribbled a few drops on his palm and massaged his temples to calm his nerves and raging heart.

Kim Taehyung.

The next leader of the pack.

Jungkook had heard the whispers cutting through like silver blades. Contrary to his parents, the True blood Alpha and heir was apparently notorious amongst all packs.

A shudder recked him. Unwanted. Unprovoked. Unintentional. That name, sharp enough to induce and not suture wounds, commanded authority, overbearance and bloodlust.

He discarded the unsettling thoughts badgering his troubled mind and laid on the soft mattress under the linen sheets. He spent an hour twisting and turning in bed and when he finally dozed off his dreams were haunted not by the rogue threatening his existence but of a fierce black furred wolf with sharp fags and shinny golden, firy eyes…
