Xavier stopped a few steps from Kylus and looked at him like he was studying damage on a machine he didn't intend to repair.
He let the silence drag long enough to make it uncomfortable.
Then he scoffed.
Kylus' jaw flexed. "What?"
Xavier's mouth tilted slightly. "You."
Kylus' eyes hardened. "You think this is funny?"
"You're standing there bleeding through your armor and still trying to posture," Xavier said. "You're acting like a spoiled kid who wasn't spanked in childhood."
The words hit.
Kylus surged forward out of pure instinct, rage overriding injury. His assistant caught him mid-step, bracing hard to hold him in place. He fought her grip for a second before pain dragged him back into his own body.
"I'll kill you," Kylus said, voice shaking with fury.
"Get in the line," Xavier replied.
Kylus' expression shifted then, anger thinning just enough for something heavier to surface.
