Chapter 5 - The Church. (REWRITTEN)

After the whole introduction to the Supernatural 101 for Issei and all that good stuff, the club quickly dispersed, Lang Jin was also given a free lift to his house which he was grateful for, cause you know, he's got manners and shit.

It was a pretty uneventful morning, in school Lang Jin struggled a tad bit to stay awake during his lessons, good thing is that he knew most of the stuff thanks to his uncle cramming it inside of his head, he wasn't some genius, he knew enough to not have any problems at school.

The bell finally rung, now was Lang Jin's favorite time, free period.

"Hey Jin." he heard a soft voice, coming from his side. He stretched and groaned, before looking at the source of the voice, it was Akeno.

"Hello Akeno, what is it?"

"We are heading to the club, do you want to join us?"

Jin shrugged, nothing better to do anyways. "Sure, I'll tag along."

"Great!" Akeno turned on her heel an walked towards the door, Jin got up and followed her.

Walking down the hallway, the two drew eyes immediately.

"Hey look Jin and Akeno are walking together!"

"HUH?! When did they get so close?!"

"Nooo! Akeno and Jin... are going out together?! There goes my chance!" A girl sniffled.

"There, There... it's gonna be alright..." her friend consoled her, or at least tried to.

"They look great together though! It's like the beauty and the beast!"

"Wait... you're right!"

Hearing such things really made Jin feel awkward, and he blushed slightly as well. "Hey, uhh... Sorry about this Akeno." Jing sighed rubbing the back of his head.

Akeno giggled, "Don't worry about them~ They're quite the enthusiastic bunch."

Jin snorted, "That's one way to put it."

Jin observed Akeno, seeing how she was completely unbothered by everything the others said, Jin was amazed by that.

Many people often say that they don't care what others think or say about them, but almost always, that's a lie. Jin was well aware of that fact, his childhood circumstances before getting adopted... wasn't pretty, and that's where he learned that, those people who claim to be unbothered by others, are either extremely insecure people who try to mask their problems, or people who are confident in themselves.

Akeno was definitely the latter, the way she talked, the way she walked, it was all confidence.

"What a strong lady..." Jin muttered to himself, feeling a slight smile crawl up his lips.

"Did you say something?" Akeno asked curiously, tilting her head.

Jin smirked, "You're a strong lady, Akeno."

Akeno raised an eyebrow, but her lips curved into a smile. "I don't know where that came from, but thank you big boy~ Turns out you're not as shy as I first thought, how surprising~"

"That so? Do make sure to brace yourself." Jin smiled, looking Akeno in the eye. "There are more surprises to come~" he finished, mimicking her speech.

Akeno was surprised, she froze for a second, before letting out her beautiful laughter. "I'll be waiting then, big boy~"

"Man... even though I saw this building in all it's glory yesterday, I still can't get enough of it." Jin said, looking around like a kid in a candy store.

"Ufufu~ You like this building that much?" Akeno asked

"Yeah I do, I can't explain why... but I just really like it."

"I'm sure Rias will be happy to hear that~ She worked very hard on it." Akeno said. "Say... I'm curious about one thing." She suddenly spoke.

"What's up?"

"Are you free on this weekend?" She asked, turning around and looking at him intently.

Jin's heart skipped a beat, at the sudden question... was he getting hit on? Probably not... or... "Y-Yeah, I should be... why?"

"I was wondering... if you wanted to... s-spend some time with me." Akeno asked shyly, she was in front of Lang Jin, so he couldn't see her face.

Jin's heart almost stopped when he heard her words, "I-I uhm... s-sure, I'd love to spend time with you."

"G-Great! C-Call me when you're free!"

The two of the finally made it to the door, knocked and went inside.

"Hello everyone." Jin greeted them,

"Hi." Came Koneko's dry response.

"Greetings Jin, How has your day been?" Kiba greeted and questioned.

"It's been alright, a bit boring though." Jin said with a sigh.

Kiba chuckled, "Perhaps you should try going out of the classroom sometimes."

"I'll consider that." Jin said while smirking.

Jin then looked around, and saw Issei sitting with his back straightened, and a sad look on his face.

Then there was Rias, who looked really angry, probably at Issei.

"What's up with them?" Jin asked to no one in particular.

"Issei got very close to the Church, and Rias scolded him." Kiba explained.

"Now why would you do that Issei?" Jin questioned.

"T-There was a nun..." Issei was just about to explain, but he stopped when Jin raised his hand.

"You can't go after nuns man... that's just wrong." Jin said.

"N-No! I-I wasn't going after her! I was just... helping her get to the church." Issei explained.

"...Really?" Jin raised an eyebrow, "So then Rias, why're you angry?"

Rias just sighed deeply, and turned towards Jin "It's because he got close to the church... as you know, anything that is Holy is very dangerous to our kind, I was... worried about his safety."

Jin hummed, bringing his hand to his chin. "As far as I'm aware, that church is abandoned no? I've been there a couple times to check it out, but no one was there." Jin spoke.

"You're correct, it's been abandoned for quite some time, I'm curious why a nun would be there..." Akeno wondered, "Perhaps they're planning to renovate it?" She then questioned.

Jin pondered over that as well before coming to a solution, "I could go over and ask, also to check out what's going on."

Rias thought about it for a second or two, before nodding. "I'd be grateful if you did, be careful though."

"Of course, I'll head over right now." Jin said, turning around and leaving, but before he did.

Also, this was a pretty good excuse to ditch school, and luckily it worked.

He arrived at the church and went in without a care in the world.

Inside the church, there were a lot of priests, all who were looking at him with... unfriendly, gazes and there was one silver-haired guy who looked quite familiar, he seemed to be communicating with a short blonde-haired nun who also had pretty greenish eyes, though after seeing Lang Jin the priest turned all his attention towards him.

"Hello there, have you come to pray?" The priest questioned with a very obvious, and practiced fake smile.

Lang Jin looked around the place, studying the condition of the church and if there was anything strange.

But nothing looked out of place, everything was in order.

"No, this church has been abandoned for a while, so I decided to come see what was going on." Jin said, looking the white-haired man directly in the eye, before reaching out with his hand for a handshake. "Lang Jin." He introduced himself.

The priest shook his hand, "Freed Sellzen."

Jin nodded, before glancing at the blonde nun, who was staring at him in awe.

"And what about you Sister?"

The sudden question caught her a bit off guard, "U-Uhm, I am A-Asia Argento, it's a pleasure to meet you..." She introduced herself as well.

"The pleasure's all mine. Say...I'm a tad bit curious, about what you guys are doing here?"

"This church is going to be receiving more attention and plans to renovate it are being discussed, we're here to inspect it so that we don't miss anything." Freed explained with a smile.

Jin could smell... alcohol on his breath, this guy wasn't a model priest now was he?

The yellow-haired girl fidgeted behind him, she had a face full of guilt. Something was off here, Jin knew that but he couldn't quite put his finger on what exactly was wrong.

"Alright then, I'm glad this place is going to be taken care of. It would be a shame to leave this church like this." After saying that, he turned to leave.

"Perhaps, you ought to visit more often." Freed suggested.

Jin turned back to face him, "I'm not a godly man, so I'll pass on that offer."

The blonde nun who was silent twitched slightly.

"...A shame." The priest's smile of warmth, faltered for just a brief second.

"Farewell, Brother Freed." Jin said with a smile, as he walked to the door.

Walking down the hill Jin thought about what he had seen, there was that nagging feeling that something was wrong... very wrong, but he really couldn't figure that part out.

"Whatever... Rias will decide what to do with the information... but that Asia girl..." Jin's mind went back to her, "...She seems... very familiar, but I can't quite put my finger on it..."

"Eh whatever, if I can't remember then that's that."
