Chapter 74 - Hunting the Venomous Tyrannosaur

The air hung thick with anticipation. Heavy as the humidity that clung to the Ancient Island of Glory.

Spark stood at the edge of the roaring waterfall. One that sprayed a fine mist on his tanned skin. The sheer force of the water crashing into the pool below vibrated through the earth.

This was their chosen arena... for an ambush.

Behind the thundering curtain of water, a small and damp cavern offered a convenient refuge. Serenade and Melody were already nestled within. Their magical lutes carefully positioned.

Their role was subtle. But crucial. Their songs would be the unseen currents. Harmonizing with the rhythm of the waterfall. Guiding the flow of battle. Weakening the monstrous target. Bolstering their allies.

They could focus on their craft without distraction. From there. Shielded by the liquid barrier

High above, Ivy and Scarlett took their positions. Perched precariously on the slick, moss-covered cliff face.

Ivy checked her grenade launcher. Meticulous as ever. An array of specialized alchemy grenades laid out beside her.

Scarlett, on the other hand, was a dark silhouette against the overcast sky. She adjusted her eldritch handgun. And prepared her swarms of gu-insects.

They would rain down death. From an angle the lumbering beast couldn't hope to counter.

Spark surveyed the setup. A grim satisfaction was tightening his jaw. Lilith materialized beside him. Her usual playful demeanor in private had been replaced by a focused intensity.

Her arcane handgun hummed softly in her left grip. She would be a ghost. A lightning bolt. Ready to dance around the beast. Striking where it least expected.

His plan was simple. Brutal, and effective. He would be the bait.

"Ready?" Spark asked in serious tone. Lilith gave a sharp nod.

He didn't waste time. His body swelled. Muscles were ripping and reforming beneath his clothes. Bones groaned. Then cracked. Reforming with explosive force. Black fur erupted across his skin. Scales shimmering like metal armors in some parts of his body.

His curved horn appeared. His hands elongated. Claws sharpening into wicked razors. Hair dissolved into thick mane.

In seconds, the towering man was gone. Replaced by the terrifying, immense form of his Draconic Werelion. His dark-grey eyes, now glowing with primal power, scanned the jungle.

The Venomous Tyrannosaur was a creature of habit. Spark had mapped its patrols. its favored basking spots. ts hunting grounds. He knew where it would be.

He moved with predatory grace. A silent, dark shadow through the dense undergrowth. The jungle's usual noises quieted at his approach. The air itself seemed to hold its breath. He wasn't hunting prey. He was challenging a king.

He found it. Just as predicted. The colossal reptilian beast lay sprawled in a sun-dappled clearing. Its emerald scales were absorbing the light. Its massive head was resting on a gnarled root. It was a picture of sleepy menace.

Spark didn't hesitate. He pulled the Power Rifle from his Technomind Space. The weapon still felt powerful. Even in his transformed hand.

He sighted quickly. Aiming for a killing blow. But he knew it wouldn't be that easy.

The rifle barked. A roar of superheated metal and concentrated energy that tore through the jungle's quiet.

The beam slammed into the Tyrannosaur's left cheek. Just below its eye. Flesh exploded outwards. Scales shattered. And a torrent of dark blood burst out.

The impact partially blinded the eye. Leaving a mangled crater of raw meat and splintered bone.

A shriek, ancient and full of pure, unadulterated rage. It ripped through the air. The ground trembled.

The Tyrannosaur was now a furious, one-eyed engine of destruction. It rose. Its mighty tail thrashing. Felling trees with casual power. It turned its mangled head. Its remaining eye was fixed on Spark. A burning ember of hatred.

Spark didn't wait. He stored the Power Rifle with a practiced flick of thought. Then pivoted and ran.

He moved like a shadow. While the monster was like a freight train. Crashing through the jungle.

Carefully. Precisely. He led the beast on a winding path that ended at the roaring waterfall. The jungle behind him splintered and cracked. As the Tyrannosaur's immense weight pulverized everything in its path.

The ground vibrated with each thunderous step of the enraged beast. Spark burst into the clearing. Veering sharply towards the waterfall.

The Tyrannosaur bellowed with fury. Lumbered after him. Its rage was overriding any sense of caution.

It stomped into the clearing. Its remaining eye scanning.

Then hell broke loose.

From high above, Ivy launched her first volley. Three alchemy grenades arced through the air. Trailing faint green smoke. They struck the Tyrannosaur's back with concussive force.

One exploded in a burst of corrosive acid that began to sizzle and eat at its scales. Another released a powerful paralysis agent. Causing the beast's rear legs to buckle momentarily. The third detonated with a thunderous roar. Sending shrapnel tearing into its flank.

Simultaneously, Scarlett's hand flew. Throwing a glass container. It broke on the beast's enormous head. And a cloud of buzzing, glittering insects erupted from it.

The gu-insects swarmed the Tyrannosaur. Targeting its remaining eye. Its nostrils. The raw wound on its cheek. They burrowed into its flesh. Seeking soft tissue. Causing agonizing irritation.

The beast roared. Shaking its head violently. Trying to dislodge the biting swarm.

From behind the waterfall, a hauntingly beautiful dual melody began. Serenade's voice, deep and resonant, intertwined with Melody's higher, clearer tones.

The song was audible but not clear enough to the ear. In the conventional sense. Due to the beast roar and the sound of the waterfall. But its effects were immediate.

A crushing weight settled on the Tyrannosaur. Its movements became subtly slower. Its roars were less potent. Its rage was tainted with a strange, dull ache. Its recovery rate, usually astounding, began to falter. Its regeneration was visibly sluggish.

Spark charged. He moved low, just like a black-furred missile. He slammed into the Tyrannosaur's front leg. His claws tore at the thick, scaly hide. Muscles and sinews were ripped.

The beast roared again. Off-balance. Its massive head swinging down to snap at him.

Lilith, like a flicker of light, was already in motion. She used [Spatial Blink] to teleport behind the Tyrannosaur. Materializing just as its head snapped down at the elusive Spark.

Her arcane handgun spat a crackling barrage of energy coated iron bullets. A concentrated barrage impacting the back of its knee.

The beast stumbled. Then turned. Spitting a dark, viscous stream of venom. The acid sizzled through the air. Melting rocks where it landed.

Lilith had used [Spatial Blink] again to evade. Reappearing on its other flank. Firing another barrage of shots. Then vanishing before the venom the monster spat could reach her.

She was a tormenting shadow. Never staying in one place. Her attacks were precise and impactful.

The battle raged on.

The Tyrannosaur was a living fortress. Despite the crippling effects of the songs, the gnawing insects, and the biting acid, it fought with a primal ferocity.

Its skin was thick. Its bones were dense. Spark's blows, even in his werelion form, were met with stubborn resistance.

Each claw swipe. Each powerful hammer-fist... They tore deep wounds. But the beast's immense regenerative capabilities were still terrifying. The wounds, though slowed by the Aurora's song, still attempted to knit themselves closed.

'It's tougher than we thought. Damn it!' Spark thought. Dodging a sweeping tail that pulverized a boulder. He charged again. Slamming into its chest. Trying to knock it off balance.

The Tyrannosaur's venom was its most dangerous weapon. It could spit the corrosive bile with frightening accuracy and range.

Spark had to constantly be on the move. His werelion agility was pushed to its limits. One splash on his exposed skin, even with his enhanced physiology, would be agonizing.

Lilith, with her [Lightning Speed] and [Spatial Blink], was a master of evasion. But she too had to be careful not to be caught in a larger spray.

Ivy and Scarlett maintained their relentless barrage from above. Ivy's grenades exploded with different effects. Explosive shrapnel. Sticky goo that hampered movement. Gases that caused coughing fits and blurred vision.

Scarlett's insects were a constant torment. Burrowing. Stinging. Creating a buzzing annoyance around its eye and ears... They disrupted its senses. Making it harder for the Tyrannosaur to target its attacks effectively.

Melody and Serenade's song grew more intense. The very air around the Tyrannosaur seemed to hum with discord.

Its movements became sluggish. Its roars weaker. Laced with a new urgency. The debilitating effects were undeniable. But the beast's sheer resilience was a testament to its power.

On the other hand, the song also energized Spark and Lilith. Making them faster and more vigilant.

Spark took advantage of every opening. He clawed. He slammed. He even bit. His muscles bunched and released with every strike. This beast had made him flee once. He wouldn't relent in his vengeance.

The battle became a brutal dance of attrition. Spark was the fulcrum of the fight. He drew its attention. Evading or taking the brunt of its attacks. Lilith harassed. Ivy and Scarlett helped causing damage from above. While Melody and Serenade kept the beast's very essence under siege.

Minutes bled into a timeless blur of impact and evasion. The ground around them was churned mud. Acidic scorch marks. And splintered trees.

Spark sensed the turning point. The beast was slowing significantly. Its venomous sprays were less frequent. Less accurate.

"Now, Ivy!" Spark roared. His voice echoing over the din.

Ivy launched her deadliest concoction. A grenade that pulsed with dark, unstable energy. It struck the Tyrannosaur's head. Erupting in a blinding flash and a thunderous boom. The beast staggered. Momentarily disoriented. Its senses were overwhelmed.

Scarlett unleashed a concentrated swarm of her most potent gu-insects. Directing them to burrow deep into the Tyrannosaur's injured part of the bodies. Severing critical nerves, disrupting blood flow.

Lilith seized the opportunity. She teleported directly onto the beast's back. She plunged her cursed dagger deep into its spine. Twisting the blade. Severing the connection between its brain and its powerful limbs.

She blinked away before it could retaliate. Leaving the dagger embedded.

The Tyrannosaur shrieked. A dying wail that tore at the air. It thrashed. Its body was convulsing. Its movements were uncoordinated and wild.

Spark moved. An unstoppable force. He leaped. propelled by his powerful legs, directly onto the back of the beast's head. Stepping on the embedded dagger.

He channeled all his brute strength. All his rage. All the cultivated power of his shifting form. All into a single, devastating strike.

He swung his arm. His claw dug into its mangled eye socket. Then ripped downwards. Tearing through its brain.

With a final, gargantuan shudder, the Venomous Tyrannosaur crashed to the earth. The impact shook the clearing. Sending tremors through the ground.

Its massive body went still. The silence, after hours of relentless battle, was deafening. Broken only by the continuous roar of the waterfall.

Spark returned to his human form. His body was aching. Sweat and blood were streaking his face. He was exhausted. But a fierce triumph burned in his eyes. He had conquered it.

"Go, quickly!" He commanded in hoarse voice. "Harvest."

His women moved with practiced efficiency.

Ivy dropped down from her position. Ignoring the still-steaming acid burns on the ground, she began to meticulously extract glands, venom sacs, and pristine scales.

Lilith did the same. Carefully harvested the Tyrannosaur's teeth and claws, powerful bone structures that could be repurposed.

Scarlett sent her gu-insects to every direction. She scanned the perimeter for signs of other encroaching beasts drawn by their fight.

Melody and Serenade, emerging from behind the waterfall, aided in collecting the most valuable organs.

They worked swiftly. Brutally efficient. The island was a dangerous place. And the corpse of a apex predator would soon attract scavengers. Both mundane and monstrous.

Within minutes, the most valuable components were secured in their spatial bags.

"Done." Lilith confirmed.

Spark nodded. "Back to base. Let's go."

They retreated into the dense jungle. Leaving behind the remaining mangled carcass of the Venomous Tyrannosaur. The silence settled back over the clearing. But the air still hummed with the afterimage of raw power and brutal victory.
