You begin searching for the perfect opportunity to eliminate Danzo once and for all. Unfortunately, the old man—hardened by years of espionage—is far too cautious. Even when hypnotizing you, he keeps three to four elite Root shinobi with jōnin-level strength between you and him at all times.
What's worse, Danzo always takes you along as his personal bodyguard on any outings. You no longer receive field assignments; at most, you get sent on menial C-rank or even D-rank missions near the village.
Your growth grinds to a halt.
Danzo even begins limiting your access to the Flame of the Infested.
Over the course of this year, all you manage to do is observe Danzo in action and exchange for a few Wind Release jutsu—enough to make some progress in that area, at least.
[Year Four]
Perhaps it's because you've been acting obedient ever since returning to Root—playing the role of Danzo's most loyal and lethal blade.
Danzo, overconfident in his control over you thanks to Kotoamatsukami, mistakenly believes he holds the sheath to your sword.
As time passes, his vigilance wanes.
Then, one day—right after he finishes another round of Kotoamatsukami—you suddenly lash out. With a swift move, you snatch Shisui's Mangekyō Sharingan from him, and using the strength granted by Ultra-Added-Weight Rock Technique, you slam a devastating kick into Danzo's gut, sending him crashing into the stone door.
Without hesitation, you unleash wind blades with a sweeping kick, instantly killing the Root shinobi who were standing guard nearby.
Danzo—old, weakened, and lacking a transplanted Sharingan watch—can't react fast enough to activate Izanagi the moment he loses Shisui's eye.
Your kick fractures his spine.
Danzo collapses to the ground. As you fend off the remaining Root guards, he frantically begins weaving hand signs to open the stone chamber's gate.
But he underestimates your taijutsu.
For years, you've hidden your true Ocular Power. You've also concealed the immense physical enhancements gained from absorbing the blood of countless shinobi.
With the added boost from Ultra-Added-Weight Rock Technique, you're unstoppable at close range. The Root shinobi guarding him don't last a single exchange.
Realizing he can't open the door in time, Danzo switches tactics. He begins unsealing the restraints inside your body.
If he completely lifts the internal seal suppressing the Flame of the Infested, the fire will erupt uncontrollably and consume you from within. You'll die from your own power—and he'll simply reclaim Shisui's Mangekyō afterward.
But Danzo miscalculates again.
Although he strictly limited your access to the Flame of the Infested, you've been slowly infusing trace amounts of that flame into your bloodstream using your ocular jutsu.
It's only a tiny quantity—but enough for you to temporarily resist the power that shares its origin with the Flame.
With a single hand seal, emerald-green flames appear out of nowhere and engulf Danzo's body, draining what little chakra he has left.
As his chakra runs dry, the low-temperature flame forcibly converts his body and spiritual energy into chakra for its own consumption.
Under the searing torment of the Flame of the Infested, Danzo's body visibly begins to shrivel.
"Even if you kill me, you'll never escape!"
Only now does Danzo remember the Reverse Four Symbols Sealing, but it's already too late. His chakra is depleted—the moment he tries to activate the seal, the flame devours it completely...
The man once feared as the shadow of the shinobi world—a cunning war hawk of Konoha—dies a pitiful, silent death inside this hidden chamber.
...
After using your self-developed hand seals to draw the Flame of the Infested back into your body, you feel your chakra leaking at an alarming rate—without the Reverse Four Symbols Seal to suppress it.
Thankfully, you had already adapted by blending some of the flame into your blood. Combined with the Flame Sealing, you manage—just barely—to contain the inferno within you once more.
To recover your strength and chakra, you consume every last drop of blood from Danzo and the fallen Root shinobi.
You don't rush to leave.
Before entering the chamber, Danzo had all your weapons confiscated and stored in another chamber on the far end of Root's complex to ensure his safety.
You scavenge a short blade and a pouch of shuriken from the bodies. Fortunately, Danzo also carried two small sealing scrolls. You retrieve intelligence materials from one and seal Shisui's Mangekyō inside.
Drawing Danzo's personal blade, you head to a familiar spot in the wall—one you've studied countless times—the weak point of the barrier.
With a sudden thrust—
Clang!
The stone chamber's barrier trembles, then flickers out momentarily. You immediately use Earth Style to dive into the breach.
Navigating through the narrow stone crevices dug beneath Root's underground structure, you move swiftly using your memory as a guide.
You're close.
Another hand seal and once again, the Flame of the Infested melts through the chakra-imbued barrier.
This flame is particularly effective against chakra-based targets—but when it comes to non-chakra objects like stone or wood, it's even weaker than ordinary fire.
You use that trait to your advantage—silently burning a small hole in the Root storage chamber's barrier without alerting anyone. Slipping inside, you deftly avoid the layered traps and head straight for your target:
—The Sealing Scroll of Techniques!
As a massive organization with influence across the shinobi world, Root has its own version of the Sealing Scroll—containing forbidden and secret techniques gathered from across the lands.
This is the key to Root's ability to mass-produce expendable shinobi with at least chūnin-level power.
Though its contents differ somewhat from the Hokage's scroll, it's still a Sealing Scroll—nothing to scoff at.
You quickly disarm the mechanisms, retrieve the scroll, and begin flipping through it. With the help of your Three-Tomoe Sharingan, you copy down a large number of jutsu and secret arts.
Shadow Clone Jutsu—obtained!
This is a critical part of your plan.
You summon two shadow clones. One immediately uses Earth Style to return to Danzo's chamber.
The other carries the Sealing Scroll of Techniques on its back.
You dive back into the rock, waiting for the right moment.
Soon enough, the clone that returned to the chamber violently bursts through the door, engaging the stationed Root shinobi in a loud, chaotic battle—deliberately drawing attention to itself to lure the bulk of Root's forces.
Listening to the sounds of the fight, you judge the timing to be just right. You signal the clone holding the scroll to trigger the traps on purpose.
Ryoma Aburame leads several Root shinobi charging into the jutsu storage room, launching a fierce assault on the clone with the scroll.
Faced with a swarm of insects, the clone begins to falter.
At that moment, you burst from the rock wall and form a one-handed seal.
Fire Style: Basic Combustion Jutsu!
The emerald flames appear out of thin air, instantly engulfing the insects and Ryoma Aburame himself—like an emerald version of Amaterasu.
Under your precise control, the evolved Fire Style infused with insect-based chakra and hints of Wood Style—the true Flame of the Infested—crushes Ryoma's resistance.
You and your clone swiftly eliminate the second-in-command of Root.
