Chapter 211 - Chapter 211: Who Could Refuse a Hippogriff

Avoiding the Dementors near Hogwarts, Link only flew a short circle over the Forbidden Forest and the Black Lake before landing with the beast group.

"Well done! Link!"

Upon seeing this, continuous cheers immediately rose from the crowd.

And Hagrid was grinning from ear to ear. He eagerly helped Link down from the horse, then turned to the crowd and said, "Who else wants to try?"

As soon as Hagrid said this, the crowd immediately exploded.

Everyone scrambled to raise their hands and rushed over toward Hagrid and the Hippogriffs, the atmosphere so enthusiastic that it was almost uncontrollable.

You know, Hippogriffs may be scary, but they're also majestic. If possible, who wouldn't want to ride one and fly around?

This was a totally different experience from flying on a broom.

Seeing this, Hagrid quickly stepped forward and shouted, "Students, please maintain order and manners! You'll scare the Hippogriffs like this, it's too dangerous!"

"Oh come on, Hagrid! Didn't Link just now get on without bowing? Don't scare us!"

A Hufflepuff in the crowd said carelessly, then rushed toward the beast group again with the others.

This gave the Hippogriffs quite a fright, they neighed in unease one after another.

Hagrid was even more panicked than the beasts; his big dirty face had gone pale with fright.

What he had said earlier wasn't nonsense, Hippogriffs are indeed very proud and dangerous creatures. The reason Link could ignore this rule and make the Hippogriffs act like affectionate puppies was purely because of Link's exceptional talent.

As for these ordinary students, Hagrid swore if they dared to treat Hippogriffs like puppies the way Link did, they were most likely going to get hurt.

Link, who had just dismounted not long ago, clicked his tongue in dissatisfaction when he saw the scene, and once again had to step out and roar angrily.

"Have you forgotten what I just told you? Everyone maintain order, one at a time! Whoever keeps messing around, get back to Hogwarts! Don't even think about riding the Hippogriffs again!"

Link stood at the front of the crowd shouting, then pointed to a Hufflepuff and a Gryffindor, saying, "You, and you! You two behaved well just now, go ride first! Be polite, remember to bow…"

Under Link's direction, the previously chaotic line finally returned to order.

Even the Gryffindors lined up obediently.

No helping it, Link was strong, what he said made sense, and he had just helped them heal injuries.

Unless they were complete idiots, no one would dare act ungrateful at this point.

Seeing Link maintaining order and even explaining knowledge about Hippogriffs to everyone, a smile appeared on Hagrid's face too.

Only, that smile was a bit bitter. Because he realized that Link was acting even more like a professor than he was.

This class today was essentially taught by Link.

If he were someone petty, he would surely develop resentment toward Link. But Hagrid, while his thinking around magical creatures may be rather odd, was overall still a simple and kind person.

Therefore, just as class ended, Hagrid grabbed Link, who was about to leave, and said excitedly, "Link, I'm really so grateful to you today! If it weren't for you, my first class would've been ruined! Hufflepuff gets 50 points!"

"Don't say that kind of thing, we're old friends, aren't we?" Link said cheerfully. He didn't care about house points at all.

Upon hearing this, Hagrid laughed awkwardly a few times, then suddenly changed the subject, "Link, I've realized I'm really not suited to be a professor. Can you come teach me how to be a professor after your afternoon class?"

Link thought for a moment. Considering he didn't really have anything important to do today, he nodded and said, "No problem!"

"Thank you so much!"

Hagrid excitedly stepped forward to hug Link, but before he could even touch Link, his body froze.

Nothing else, Link's 'Arkam Serpentine Auto-Defense Mechanism' had activated.

———

Link's afternoon class was History of Magic.

While Professor Binns lectured up front on his own, the students below were all excitedly discussing the morning's Care of Magical Creatures class.

No helping it, Hagrid's teaching method was too ridiculous.

Normally, professors like Kettleburn, when introducing dangerous magical creatures, would usually just let students take a look at the real thing and be done with it.

Some would even stick purely to theory, explaining with pictures.

Who else would directly let students handle them?

Especially when the subject was something as dangerous as Hippogriffs.

Of course, they didn't forget about Link either.

Link, sitting in the last row of the classroom, could hear people discussing him now and then.

Link didn't care much about this, his attention was completely focused on John beside him.

Because this guy, rarely, wasn't sleeping in History of Magic, instead, he was holding a book and studying seriously.

And though the cover of the book had been disguised by John, its inside was still Psychology of Love.

This made Link all the more certain that John had fallen in love.

Grinning, Link didn't do anything foolish to embarrass John in class. Instead, he quietly pulled out The Dark Forces, A Guide to Self-Protection and Basics of Defense Against the Dark Arts to read.

These two books were textbooks designated by Lupin this year.

Although with Link's current strength he couldn't really learn much from these books, their descriptions of strange stories and events were quite interesting, so Link always treated them as alternative novels.

After reading "light books" all afternoon, Link finally headed toward Hagrid's hut as per their agreement.

Though it was called a hut, that "small" was only true for Hagrid.

To Link, this wooden house was so spacious he could practically have a dance party inside.

Thanks to Professor Kettleburn, Link was actually very familiar with this place.

Because the three of them often skipped class to come here to barbecue. Of course, most of the barbecuing was done by Hagrid, and the other two just ate.

Link really liked this place.

Not only because of Hagrid's excellent barbecuing, but also because this cabin was decorated by Hagrid in a very traditional European hunter's lodge style.

It allowed Link to briefly immerse himself in an illusion of his previous life.

After all, in his past life, Link once longed for Hagrid's kind of life, one person, one small hut, one dog; outside the hut was a snowy forest, inside was a warm fireplace, and he lay under a blanket in a chair reading the newspaper, while the dog lay at his feet…

Taking a deep breath, the illusion in Link's mind gradually faded.

In his past life, he was powerless to control his fate and couldn't achieve those wild dreams, so in this life, he had to work hard to make them happen.

Thinking this, Link smiled and pushed open the wooden house door.

But as soon as he entered, Link immediately heard a hoarse and sorrowful weeping sound.
