Chapter 1 - A New Journey

*POV: ???/Leon Calrus*

*1st POV*

Waking up, I felt an odd feeling in my stomach, like I just ate expired sushi or something like that. Rubbing my temple, I noticed something was off with my vision, everything was a bit blurry, and I got off, dusting myself off, except I noticed I wasn't wearing my pajamas. No, instead, I was wearing black pants and piratey brown boots. That's when I saw that in fact wearing a white trench coat with a black undershirt.

Looking around, I saw a large black pirate hat with a large feather on it that would've been next to me whilst I was knocked out...on the beach. So freaking out a little bit I quickly picked it u noticing my now tannish skin and I darted my head back and forth also seeing my long...WHITE HAIR!

WHY DO I HAVE WHITE HAIR NOW? It was short and brown before now, and seeing a large body of water, I went over, taking a long look at myself in the water. I made sure to check every part of myself as I pulled my hair, making sure it wasn't some wig some asshole put on me to mess with me. That's when something appeared in front of my face, it was a blue screen.

I felt my now only one eye twitch and my mouth drop in sheer shock at that fact, I now knew what was happening. How the hell did this happen? I mean, I know there are a bunch of stories about this very subject, but still, how a...a...and when exactly, I mean, what world was I in?

That's when I looked up and my mouth went even wider down as I saw it, a massive old ship rising out of the water with various pieces of coral and fish dropped out of it. Thats when I remerbed the name the system screen showed me "Leon Calrus" it was the name of my DnD Monk character, a pirate trained in the ways of martial arts and in the way of the dragon, gifting him a ship he had to pay for as a way to spread his name far and wide.

The Drifting Moon, his ship that was destroyed by an Orc Warlord that took his arm, which, rolling up my sleeves saw that I had my right arm still intact, but my left one was now prosthetic.

"What the hell DnD Gods or whichever ones are real in this world!?"

That's when the blue screen came back, except it wasn't showing me my stats but instead something else entirely.

[Hello Host or shall I say Leon Calrus]

[I understand your confusion, but unfortunately, your last memory of going soundly to sleep was in fact a lie, something the god who killed you did to spare you the horror of what happened.]

I grabbed the screen and somehow began to spread it out cartoonishly.

"What the hell do you mean, tell me right now or I'm going to find a way to crack you permanently!"

[Well, Leon Calrus ;) You died via...pfttttt tub drowning]

I stopped moving for a couple of seconds as a loading screen went through my head, processing this new information.

"YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!"

[Unfortunately, though, we are not, and as this will be the last time we have any significant interaction, do you have any questions for me before I leave you to it?]

"What World am I in? How the hell do I steer that Ship? And where the hell is civilization!?"

[You are currently in the One Piece world, currently the one the host is familiar with. Luffy is currently on his way to Loguetown, which, in regards to your third question, you are currently near on a deserted island.]

[As for your second question, the ship will know where you want to go, for it is connected to you/your character in a way unknown to most.]

[On it are items key to your journey across these seas, where your choices are yours alone. Do you have any more questions?]

I just stood there for a long time before asking my last question.

"How...How do I get stronger?" I asked, knowing full well the dangers this world contained and knowing DnD had finite power/levels.

[It is simple, host, level up, and use the powers of this world to your advantage and live your own life.]

Then it closed itself, leaving me alone with my thoughts as my ship, The Drifting Moon, rose out of the water in all its glory. The water flowing off it rapidly alongside any remaining fish, well, the one lucky enough to get off of it before dying. Grabbing my hat, I saw the vast open ocean, the breeze of the sea, and the wonders contained within, the freedom that...that my old home didn't offer.

Sure, I wasn't interested in the One Piece, nor being King of the Pirates, but perhaps exploring the whole world didn't sound half bad. I mean, getting a whole crew, fulfilling my own and their dream along the way, sounded like a fun idea, one that I truly wanted to do. I could feel a smile form on my face involuntarily, but I openly welcomed it.

I spread my arms out, letting the wind blow into my white trench coat as I stared up at the vast open sky with the sun overhead. That's when I heard the creaking of the newly risen ship, and I looked down, seeing it move slowly towards shore, towards me, but I then noticed it getting bigger and bigger, faster as well.

So before it could crush me, I held onto my hat tightly and began running toward the small forest, and I saw my ship parked on the shore, ready for me to board. Seeing it ready to set sail as a large, patchy pirate flag with a large flowing white mane flowed in the wind. Seeing this I jumped onto the ship still pissed off that I was thrown into this world but glad I didn't remember how I died.

I mean, who would want that memory going through their head, and for right now, my best bet was to just get my bearings. Figure out my way in the world, but first I would need to get some Belly for myself, this world's weird version of currency, and as I jumped onto the ship I prayed to the dice gods of DnD to have left some starter treasure for me, something I could use to get my bearings.

Maybe repair the ship while I was at it, I mean, sure, it could float and steer itself pretty fine, but it took quite a bit for the ship to reach shore. That and just looking at it, you could tell the ship desperately needed repairs.

I mean, looking around the deck, a lot of the wood would need to be replaced, the whole ship scrubbed down, just for any form of safe storage, both for food and sleeping alongside other stuff.

As I sat on the deck, I decided to test out my new body. I could already tell I was pretty strong based on my stats, and was pretty agile based on my dexterity. That and my wisdom stat may be responsible for my calmer state. My unconscious mind realizing that panicking and screwing around wouldn't help me in this situation.

Getting up, I saw something gleaming in the corner of my eye next to the broken helm, and going toward it, I picked up a broken compass. The glass covering the inside of it was half destroyed, with a golden outline that still shone in the light. I smiled, swinging the chain back and forth, taking a good look at it as the blue screen appeared again.

[Item: Captain's Echo]

[Description: Whilst the minds of mortals may not remember, the sea will forever]

[Ability: Adv on Initiative, Charisma checks on those who have leaders, and will point in the direction it's wielder most desires]

"GWA HA HA HA HA!"

I let out a loud laugh into the ocean as I held my broken compass, looking at the horizon that lay ahead of me.

"Alright, Drifing Moon, next up the town of beginnings, Loguetown, and then the Grand Line!"

The ship then began to move backwards, as though it were a living creature, a mount responding to my commands as it did so, turning around ever so slowly, taking care not to scratch it anymore than it did so.

{I really hope I can get some food or something before I go on this journey proper.}
