Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The First Battle of the War

The figure before Kaito was shrouded in a dark mist, his violet eyes glinting with malice. He stood tall and imposing, his presence radiating a terrifying aura. Dark Duel Spirits swirled around him, whispering names of forbidden cards and rituals. The air itself felt heavy, as if it was pressing down on the group.

"You dare to come here?" the duelist mocked, his voice laced with an unsettling confidence. "You think you can stop me? You are nothing compared to the power I command. You are only pawns in a game that has already been decided."

Kaito's hand instinctively tightened around his Duel Disk. This was it—the true battle he had been preparing for, though he never imagined it would begin this way. The Duel Spirit realm was not a place for simple duels. This was where ancient forces, long forgotten, had been slumbering, waiting for the right moment to strike.

"Who are you?" Kaito demanded, his voice steady but filled with resolve.

The duelist's lips curled into a sinister grin. "I am the one who will reshape the world. I am the one who has awakened the Sigils and unleashed the primal powers that lie dormant within this realm. I am the Herald of the Spirit War."

Kaito felt a chill run down his spine. The Sigils—the powerful artifacts that had been sealed away by Duel Academy. This was what had been awakened by Kael's actions. This was what was threatening everything Kaito and his friends held dear.

"What do you want?" Jaden spoke up, his voice uncharacteristically serious. His hand rested on his Duel Disk, ready to fight.

The duelist's eyes flickered to Jaden. "What do I want? To tear down this false world, of course. To free the Duel Spirits from their shackles and let them rule once more. The Duelists of your world are weak, trapped in their limited vision of what dueling is. It is time for the true power to rise."

"Then you'll have to go through us," Kaito said firmly, stepping forward, his gaze never leaving the dark duelist. He felt the weight of his Blue-Eyes deck at his side, the familiar power of the dragon calling to him. But he also knew that this fight would not be like any other.

The duelist's grin widened. "Very well. If you seek to stop me, then let us begin. But be warned, this battle will be your last."

Without another word, the duelist raised his Duel Disk, and the dark energy around him surged. Kaito immediately summoned his own Duel Disk, and the air crackled with the intensity of the moment. The battle was about to begin.

First Turn:

The duelist went first, drawing a card with a flourish. "I summon the first of my servants. Behold, the dark beast that serves me—Chaos Sorcerer!" He slammed the card down onto his Duel Disk, and a towering, shadowy figure appeared before him, its eyes glowing with an eerie violet light.

Kaito narrowed his eyes. Chaos Sorcerer was a formidable monster, capable of banishing any card on the field. He had to be careful—this duelist knew what he was doing.

"My turn," Kaito said, drawing a card. He surveyed his hand quickly. This was no ordinary duel. He needed to focus, to play carefully. He needed to summon his dragons and protect them from whatever dark powers the duelist could unleash.

"I summon The White Stone of Legend, in defense mode," Kaito said, placing the card on the field. "And I end my turn."

The duelist smirked. "How quaint. You're relying on such weak creatures to protect you? You'll regret that."

He then moved to his next phase, summoning another dark spirit. "I summon Necrovalley, and with its power, all of my monsters gain strength! Chaos Sorcerer, attack the White Stone of Legend!"

The chaos beast lunged forward, its magic-infused claws tearing through the air toward Kaito's defenseless stone. But before it could land a blow, Kaito shouted, "I activate the trap Mirror Force!"

A wall of shimmering light materialized around Kaito's side of the field, and the attack was reflected back at Chaos Sorcerer. The dark monster was torn apart by its own power, dissipating into the shadows from which it came.

"Impressive," the duelist sneered, but his tone showed no sign of fear. "But this is only the beginning."

Second Turn:

Kaito's hand tightened around his cards. He knew that this was a battle of wits as much as strength. He needed to push forward now, before the duelist could summon anything else to tip the scales.

"I summon Blue-Eyes White Dragon in attack mode!" Kaito declared, slamming the card onto his Duel Disk. A massive, powerful dragon materialized on his side of the field, its roar shaking the very ground beneath them.

Jaden raised an eyebrow. "Whoa, talk about a heavy hitter."

The duelist's smile faltered for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure. "A mere dragon won't be enough to save you."

Kaito's eyes burned with determination. "Blue-Eyes, attack his Necrovalley monster!"

The dragon unleashed its devastating white lightning, cutting through the shadowy creatures surrounding the duelist. But the duelist didn't flinch. He didn't need to.

"I activate my trap card, Dark Renewal!" The duelist's trap ensnared Kaito's Blue-Eyes in shadowy tendrils. "Now, I sacrifice your Blue-Eyes to summon Dark Magician of Chaos from my graveyard!"

Kaito cursed under his breath. The Dark Magician of Chaos was one of the most powerful spellcasters in existence, and now it stood on the duelist's side of the field.

Third Turn:

Kaito couldn't back down now. He drew his next card, feeling a sense of urgency. This was it—he had to end this duel before the duelist could summon even more dark forces.

"I summon The White Stone of Ancients," Kaito said, placing the card on the field. "And now, I activate its effect to add Blue-Eyes White Dragon back to my hand!"

The duelist's eyes narrowed. "You think a mere summoning will stop me?"

Kaito raised his Duel Disk high, summoning the final monster that would give him the edge he needed. "I play Polymerization, fusing my Blue-Eyes White Dragon and The White Stone of Legend to summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!"

The colossal beast roared into existence, its three heads snapping at the air. The power of the Ultimate Dragon was unmatched, and it dwarfed the Dark Magician of Chaos.

"Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, attack the Dark Magician of Chaos with Ultimate Burst!" Kaito shouted.

The Ultimate Dragon unleashed its terrifying triple blast of energy, incinerating the Dark Magician of Chaos and reducing the duelist's life points.

The duelist staggered back, his expression one of disbelief. "No... this cannot be..."

Kaito smiled grimly. "It's over. The Spirit War is just beginning—but you won't be part of it."

The duelist's figure flickered, his form dissipating into shadows. "This... isn't the end... the war has just begun…"

As the duelist's presence vanished, the energy around the ruins began to settle, but the air remained thick with foreboding. Kaito and his friends exchanged looks of determination.

"We've won this battle," Kaito said, "but the war is far from over."
