Chapter 45 - Chapter 44

Sienna was at home counting her little stash of money. She was too bored. Rowan was out on a mission, and she didn't really know the other wives in the military housing.

Knock knock knock

"Sister-in-law, are you home? Sister-in-law?"

Sienna quickly put down her money and went to open the door. She saw a young soldier outside, and before she could ask anything, the soldier said, "Sister-in-law, Captain Rowan is hurt. He's at the hospital now."

Hearing that, Sienna went out immediately. "Which hospital? Take me there."

"Oh, okay, okay."

When Sienna arrived at the hospital, Rowan had already finished surgery and was in a hospital room.

Sienna walked into the room and saw a girl sitting by the bed. Felix was standing on the side, and the scene looked a little warm and cozy.

Felix heard the door open and looked up. When he saw Sienna, he quickly said, "Sister-in-law, you're here."

Sienna glanced at Felix and quickly went to check Rowan's condition. She saw that he wasn't in danger anymore, but he had lost a lot of blood.

Sienna asked, "Tell me, what happened?"

"Sister-in-law, I'm sorry. Rowan got hurt while trying to protect us."

Right after Felix finished speaking, the girl at the bedside said, "It's all my fault. I was too weak. Rowan got hurt trying to save me. Please don't blame Felix."

Sienna looked at the girl and asked, "Felix, who is she? Why is she sitting by the bed? Is she your wife?"

"Sister-in-law, she…"

Felix had just started to talk when the girl interrupted him and said, "Sister, I'm the one who was rescued. Felix is a man, and he doesn't know how to take care of people, so I asked him to bring me. Also, Rowan saved my life. It's only right for me to take care of him."

"Oh, I see. Then leave. I'll take care of my own man."

As soon as Sienna said that, the girl started crying. "Sister, did I do something wrong? Please don't make me leave. I just want to stay until Rowan wakes up. I promise I won't bother him."

Felix saw her crying so sadly and said, "Sister-in-law, please let her stay. She's really been worried about Rowan. She stayed here before you came and helped a lot on our way back."

The young soldier who brought Sienna looked at Felix in shock. He thought to himself, "Is Deputy Felix stupid or what?"

After hearing Felix's words, Sienna understood what her mother had said before—men are blind and clueless. Since Felix was Rowan's brother, she decided to help him out a little.

Sienna turned to the young soldier and said, "Can you go to the family compound and bring Grandpa Tang to the hospital?"

"Oh, yes, sister-in-law."

Felix asked, "Sister-in-law, why are you calling my grandpa?"

Sienna gave him a pitying look and didn't answer. How could someone be this hopeless at his age?

Sienna asked another question. "Where are the people who hurt Rowan?"

Felix didn't respond right away, so Sienna grew impatient and said, "I'm talking to you. Are you mute?"

"Sister-in-law, they're in the mountains of the neighboring province."

"Has it been handled?"

"I think so. After we rescued the girl and saw Rowan was hurt, I brought him straight to the hospital. I haven't contacted the others yet."

"Alright, then go contact them now and come back to report to me."

"Oh, okay."

Felix left to make the call. Sienna turned to the girl and said, "You can leave now."

"Sister, please don't send me away. Let me stay and take care of Rowan."

Sienna heard this and walked over to slap her across the face. "You're really asking for it, aren't you? He has a wife to take care of him. He doesn't need you."

She then ignored the girl, sitting down by the hospital bed, waiting for news from Felix.

Felix quickly returned. He entered the room and said, "Sister-in-law, a few others have escaped into the mountains. Our people are already searching for them."

Then he noticed the girl's face and immediately asked, "Comrade, what happened to you? Who hit you?"

The girl timidly said, "No, it's my fault. I made my sister unhappy. I really wanted to help take care of Brother Rowan. My sister doesn't seem like someone who can take care of others."

Felix thought for a moment. It seemed like it was always Old Zhou taking care of his sister-in-law. Even when they had meals, Old Zhou was the one cooking.

"Sister-in-law, how about letting her stay? She's just trying to help."

Before Sienna could reply, Old Tang entered. Sienna called out, "Grandpa Tang."

Felix quickly called out, "Grandpa."

The girl also said, "Grandpa Tang, hello."

Grandpa Tang looked at the group and asked, "Sienna, did you need something?"

Earlier, he had asked one of the soldiers, but the soldier said nothing, though his face showed concern.

"Sienna, Felix might be a little blind, and I'm worried he'll cause problems, so I called you here to talk."

Grandpa Tang became a bit nervous and asked, "What? What's going on? Is there a way to save her?"

"There is, but I don't think I can save her. It might be better if you do it."

Grandpa Tang asked, "Sienna, what do you think I should do?"

"Just beat him up. If that doesn't work, beat him a few more times."

"Eh?"

"My mother said: If Rowan ever feels sorry for some woman and wants to help her, or thinks someone is weak and needs comfort, then he needs to be beaten. He's blind in his heart and eyes. If this isn't fixed, he's no good."

Hearing this, Grandpa Tang glanced at Rowan and thought, this kid is even more miserable than I am.

"Sienna, that doesn't really apply to Felix. He's single and doesn't need this kind of treatment."

"Ah, I see. This girl wants to stay and take care of Rowan. I don't agree. Felix said she took care of him before I came, but I don't believe she can really do it."

Grandpa Tang looked at Felix and said, "Sienna, I think you're right. This really needs to be treated. It's getting serious."

Grandpa Tang took off his shoes and started hitting Felix.

"Are you out of your mind? He's not blind in his eyes or his heart, but I'll teach you a lesson today."

After Grandpa Tang hit Felix, Sienna said, "Grandpa, please send me to their mission area."

"Ah, Sienna, their mission is already complete. The rest isn't their responsibility."

"I know, but since they hurt my people, they can't just leave alive."

Seeing the look on Sienna's face, Grandpa Tang said, "Okay, you go to the airport. I'll arrange things for you."

"Thank you."

Sienna turned and looked at Rowan, saying to Felix, "Take care of him. I'll be back soon."

After saying that, Sienna left.
