Chapter 29 - Chapter 28

"Is that so? Since you're not tired, how about we exercise a little?"

"No, I'm tired. I want to rest now. Good night, husband."

Rowan smiled at her and held her as they went to sleep.

A week later, Felix returned and went straight to see Rowan.

"Old Rowan, are you home?"

Rowan heard the voice and came out to open the door. When he saw who it was, he asked, "When did you get back? Did you solve everything?"

"I just got here. Fix me something to eat, I'm starving."

"Sit and wait a moment."

Rowan quickly went to the kitchen and made a bowl of noodles, bringing it out. "This is quick, eat this for now."

"Alright, I'll come over for dinner tonight."

"Alright."

After Felix finished the noodles, Rowan asked, "What happened at home?"

Hearing the question, Felix said, "My brother is seriously injured and still unconscious."

Upon hearing this news, Rowan's mood also turned heavy. "Why didn't you take a few more days off?"

"Old Rowan, I came back to pack up and hand over my work. I'm being transferred to the Kyoto Military District."

Hearing this, Rowan was surprised but still happy for him. "That's good, work hard when you get there, don't bring shame to our Southern Military District."

"Old Rowan, would you like to come with me? That's the real reason I came to your house. I'm being transferred there."

Hearing this, Rowan hesitated. The Kyoto Military District, a transfer there would mean a promotion.

Felix saw his hesitation and said, "Think it over. Discuss it with your wife. This transfer is happening. If we can get some support from my family, we'll be going."

"Of course, Old Rowan, I need to tell you, if you come with me, people will think we are on the same side, sharing both honor and risk, unlike now. So, think carefully."

"Alright, I understand."

Felix left after speaking.

Rowan asked Sienna, "Wife, do you think I should go?"

"Do you want to go?"

"I do. The Kyoto Military District, everyone wants to go there, and it's a promotion for me since it's a transfer. I'll still be a regiment commander, so it's a step up for me."

"Then go. What's there to hesitate about?"

"Wife, the army may seem fair, but it's not entirely so. I have no background, and being in the power center makes it easy to become cannon fodder."

"Go, we have nothing to lose. If worse comes to worst, we can go back home and farm. I'll protect you, don't worry."

Rowan, hearing this, rubbed her head and said, "Silly, if anyone needs protecting, it's me protecting you. I should be the one to make a better life for you."

"I'll take care of Felix's brother. This way, he'll owe you a favor, and getting you transferred to Kyoto will be quite a favor. You won't need to worry about being bullied. If anyone bothers you, I'll handle it."

"Alright, I understand."

In the evening, Felix came over for dinner and asked, "Old Rowan, have you decided? I can't wait much longer."

"I'll go."

"Good, I'll inform my grandfather right away."

Sienna looked at Felix and said, "Take good care of Rowan."

"Don't worry, sister-in-law, I will. He's my good brother."

After thinking for a moment, Sienna added, "I'll heal your brother."

Upon hearing this, Felix dropped his bowl and looked at Sienna. "Sister-in-law, can you say that again?"

"Take good care of Rowan, and I'll help you heal your brother. Didn't your brother say he's injured?"

"Yes."

"Don't worry, my medical skills are good. Even if his leg is broken, as long as the leg is still there, I can heal it."

Upon hearing this, Felix immediately said, "My older brother has a bullet fragment in his head. They won't dare to operate on him to remove it, so he's been in a coma."

"Ah, in his head, no wonder. The head is the most fragile part."

"Sister-in-law, do you have a way to treat it?"

"It should be fine, but I'm not sure about the equipment here. I'll need to take a look."

"Okay, thank you, sister-in-law."

Felix thought his trip back had been well worth it. Not only did he bring back Old Zhou, but he also found someone who could save his life.

"Wait, Ah Fei, don't get too excited. My wife, your sister-in-law, has never performed surgery."

"Ah?"

Upon hearing this, Felix was stunned. Was this hope that just disappeared? He had thought she was an expert based on her confident appearance, but it seemed like he was grasping at straws in his desperation.

Seeing Felix looking stunned, Rowan continued, "But you can let her take a look. Her medical skills are very good, so maybe she can help."

Hearing Rowan say this, Felix finally calmed down. Although it might not be effective, since Old Zhou said her medical skills were good, it was still worth a try.

Sienna looked at Rowan. If she could find the exact location, taking care of it wouldn't be a problem. She just worried that it was only a rough idea of the location since she couldn't scan, so she was hesitant to perform surgery directly.

But Rowan had a different thought. With a family like theirs, if they performed surgery on their grandson, Old Zhou would definitely investigate her thoroughly.

Even though he didn't understand medicine, Rowan knew that the brain was complex. If anything went wrong, they would be held responsible, and it could lead to disaster.

"Then, sister-in-law, when we get to Kyoto, let's go see my brother and see if you can do anything. Don't feel pressured; the military hospital in the capital already said they had no way to help, so just do your best."

Hearing this, Rowan added, "Yes, when we get to Kyoto, we should pay a visit, and your sister-in-law will take a look."

After a pause, Rowan continued, "Ah Fei, don't worry. If there's a way, your sister-in-law won't hide it from you."

"Mm-hmm, I won't."

"Alright, then thank you in advance, sister-in-law. It's getting late, so I'll head back."

"Okay, I won't walk you out."

After Felix left, Sienna said, "Hubby, don't you want me to help heal his brother?"

"It's not that, I just don't have 100% confidence. We don't need to try if the risk is too great. The brain is too complex, and so is the human heart."

"Mm?"

"Wife, they've moved me to Kyoto, and I'm very grateful to them. If the situation allows, I hope you can heal his brother. That way, I won't owe them anything. But if it doesn't work, that's fine, understand?"

"They moved me to Kyoto for two reasons: one, because we have a good relationship, and two, to keep us tied together. No matter how chaotic the situation is, they need capable soldiers. Their family can't afford any more instability. When the wall falls, everyone pushes."

"So, if you can heal him, do it. If the risk is too high, don't try. No matter how good the relationship, it's not worth a life. I'll find another way to repay the favor."
